Oh, I am quite interested in this. I have some figured maple but with yellowish tint. I want to whiten it and apply blue dye. Do you think the bleaching method would remove the figuring?

The bleach will make the maple more pale and the figuring remains the same. The figuring (flame maple, curly maple) comes from the wood fibers changing their direction, which is not affected by bleach.
