  • Step by step guide on how to build a 2 cylinder LEGO engine with accurately timed valves. It features a 360 crank configuration so both pistons move up and down together but fire at different times.
    Unlike gravity assisted valves, this engine will still work when held upside down because the valves are spring loaded.
    This engine was purpose built for my tractor MOC, but could be installed in other vehicles, or simply presented as a display model.
    If you want to support the channel or want the PDF instructions you can find them here: rebrickable.co...
    Disclaimer: The PDF will have a more consistent usage of parts, especially when it comes to colors. For the real build I used parts that I had available and some of the colors are a bit random.

    This is my first ever build guide, so please let me know what you think and where I should improve!
    I decided to add no music as everyone's taste is different and I usually tend to mute it anyway. If you have any problems or questions regarding the build, don't hesitate to ask!
    Thank you for the support!

      I think you did it fine good lighting too did not go fast and music is distracting

      Thanks! I was a bit worried about the lighting as I relied a lot on natural light and there were a few clouds affecting some of the shots

    Hi! I'm a great fan of this engine, and I'm curious if it's possible to increase the amount of cylinders by just adding more parts. Much love, I adore the build

      Hey! Thank you so much, it really means a lot!
      Yes, you can definitely add more cylinders! I’m currently working on a 4 cylinder version actually. The only tricky part is getting the timing of the valves right and firing order right. Lego is quite limited in terms of building-angles for the crankshaft, so an accurate 5 cylinder engine wouldn’t be possible.
      Of course you could also ignore the firing order and valve timing if you want, then the limit is dependent on the length of the axle holding the valves :)

    • @maximefeyten5774
      @maximefeyten5774  2 года назад

      This is a 360 config. mostly because it's a lot smoother :) This was used in some old John Deere tractors if I'm not mistaken.
      With a 180 config. there's a point where the electric motor has to push up 2 valves at the same time which resulted in jerky driving, that's why I went for 360 instead :)
