- This is a world record run i've done 10 years ago of the best, imo, light gun shooter ever created - VIRTUA COP on the SEGA SATURN!
I remember the twingalaxies record for Sega Saturn on NORMAL was 14 mil.and something, and this run beats it with roughly 1.2 million, and is also on HARDEST, where enemies are much faster and you have to be extremely quick if your goal is scoreattacking!
This was done on a PAL SEGA SATURN with a light gun without any kind of autofire. The video was recorded on a VHS, so the quality is not that good, for which i apologize.
It's "ranking mode" in the video, and the only difference between this and "arcade mode" is that at the end it gives you statistics and a rank in japanese, which, to this day, I haven't understand what it means.
I play on hardest mode, which is unlocked after beating the game once, and score the highest points i have seen on the Sega Saturn version. The arcade version counter stops at 9,999,999 pts. and it was fixed in the Saturn version, as you can see, otherwise, I would've counterstopped it too.

Nice man. I remember I visited my cousins in the states and they had a sega saturn (back when I only had a SNES at home, so Saturn was freaking amazing). I got to their place from the airport and right away I wanted to play lol. Played this game all night, then finally went to sleep. It's crazy that you got this world record ages ago and recorded it on VHS, that's awesome.

I can assure you, I have used a regular (cheap, not original) light gun pistol, without anything like autofire, or something like that, if that's what you are implying. It didn't even have that option, as far as I remember.
When you play for countless hours you learn to tap the trigger super fast.

Man, scoring high in this game is really challenging. The score resets each time you continue. I need to play this more and take a break from House of the Dead. Luckily, I own it for the Saturn _and_ a lightgun :)

But yea the arcade version score was “clocked” 99999999 in the first year.
Pretty sure it was on gamesmaster :p
I see now that the arcade verson counter stops at 9,999,999 pts. not 99,999,999 pts. The Saturn version doesn't have that problem, as you can see. So, this is the Saturn version world record. If I was playing the arcade version, I would've counter stopped it too.
edgarector ahh this is the PAL version, so it’s over 10% slower than the Japan and USA versions (and arcade)
You should try the full speed NTSC versions, would be more of a challenge as they’re faster than PAL.
Which has the better bonus, justice shot or triple shot ?
@@elijahmodnar1 Triple shot all the way. Bullseye, or Justice Shot, gives a flat 5000 pts, while a perfect triple shot gives 1000 + 2000 + 3000 pts. However, it is EXTREMELY hard to do a perfect triple shot, but even if it's not perfecf, it's still better. The timing has to be incredibly tight. You can't just shoot preemptively where the enemy would appear, you would only score 500 pts. You have to start shooting 1/6 of the second when the enemy appears for a perfect triple shot. The game knows what it's doing.
Of course, for a triple shot you have to start from the legs to torso. There are some instances where you can't see the full body of your enemy. Then, it's impossible to do a triple shot, so Bullseye should be tried. Also, there are some enemies, that you can't score a Bullseye on, no matter what.

Are you doing this on a Sega Saturn with a Sega Saturn controller? I played this game religiously when I was a kid but I don't remember the cursor getting across the screen as fast as it seems to do for you. That was a while ago though so I could be wrong.
Oh wait, never mind. I just saw in your description that you were using a light gun. That explains how you could get from one side of the screen to the other so quickly. I had to play this game with a controller, lol.

The chopper only appears if you play the stages in order 1,2 and 3.I don't know about the arcade version but I am sure it should be there too.AM2 team made the original as well as the saturn port,as far as I know.Going for a score attack you have to go for the chopper for the extra points.

Oh ok, that explains it. I always went easy then hard then medium since the medium boss is the hardest with a controller. Definitely one of my favorite games for my Saturn when I was a kid.
Seems like automatic is the most useful pickup gun here, the rest doesn't make sense
It is definitely the most useful, but the other have their uses too.Magnum pierces through cover,shotgun has wider range,rifle fires in bursts of 3,machinegun fires 30 bullets without reloading.All of them have uses throughout the game.
After all that.... "8" ... Wow that's a harsh ranking (I came here hoping you'd prove you're able to get first, and couldn't even do it with 15 million?)

FurryCheetah 2000 It is not an original light gun I played with,I simply couldn't find one,but I haven't used any autofire or slowdown or any tool assisstance, if that's what you imply!These things disgust me to no end!This was played on a real Sega Saturn PAL system on my TV and recorded via VHS. It took me many attempts,of course!Watching it now I see quite a lot of mistakes,actually!

I wasn't playing with an original lightgun. It was some kind of cheap knock off, but it was doing great.

@@j.e.8442 No. This is ranking mode, so, the only thing you get in the end is some kind of rank in japanese. And that's literally the only difference between regular and ranking mode. I still don't know what each rank means. This is it. It's an arcade game, you are not meant to unlock anything. It's a port of a coin op arcade title.
