TO ALL TOURISTS COMING TO SINGAPORE. 1) Visit Katong, Little India, Arab Street, Chinatown to learn about different ethnic groups in Singapore. Confirm plus chop very "asia" at these places. Try out unique local food at each area (e.g. Katong Laksa, Roti Prata, Roti John). 2) Visit various museums (e.g. ACM, war museums) to learn about Singapore's history and what shaped today's Singaporean culture. The SCCC exhibition about Singaporean Chinese is actually quite interesting, and you will learn about different sub chinese dialect groups. 3) Visit Pulau Ubin, Kranji Marshes, Clementi Forest, Hort Park, MacRitchie, basically the whole center patch of Singapore if you want something natural. 4) Sign up for southern islands hop (Lazarus/St John Island, Kusu Island and I think NPark may have some other rarer southern islands tour). 5) Visit Smith Marine Floating Restaurant to experience Kelong life. 6) Experience water sports (e.g. Kayaking, Dragonboat - very asian thing) at Kallang basin. 7) Cycle around Singapore and visit HDB estates (unique to Singapore) and see unique things about Singapore urban planning, or ride through our industrial estate to visit the iconic lamp post #1. If you are at older HDB estates look out for boys playing special football at void deck. Alternatively play some games at Street Soccer court. 8) Go beyond just Chicken Rice, Satay and Chilli Crab. There are other nice local dishes such as Lor Mee, White Bee Hoon, Changi Village Chicken Cutlet Horfun, Hainanese Pork Chop, Bak Chor Mee with tomato sauce (unique to Singapore), Cereal Prawn, To make it more fun, try a Singapore vs Malaysia food itinerary and let the Malaysian know that we have better Hokkien Mee, Laksa, and Bak Kut Teh. Our Nanyang Coffee is also unique. 9) Learn how to speak singlish properly (it's not just adding lah to every sentence). 10) Watch some mediacorp drama while your RUclips is geographically in Singapore location! Don't forget about other touristy places such as Sentosa, Zoo, new bird park and etc. You can also try crossing the world busiest land border at Woodlands.
@@limsk9839 the thing is i only met those kind of rude ppl in Singapore. not in anywhere else. deal with it you guys are grumpy and sad. 😂 . you guys pretends to be proud of your country but inside , theres alot of sad and depressed people and you need to release your frustation to other people. its ok. i get it. i understand. 😂😂😂
These are such nice recommendations! I’ve been to so many tourist spots in Singapore, and it seems that there’s so much more to explore. There’s some that I haven’t heard of and I want to check these out the next time I go there.
She said locals are rude, apparently just from her experience from 1 taxi driver. And I have issues with her saying "RESORT to hawker centre", why does she have to RESORT to hawker centre? What's wrong with our hawker centers? Our hawker centers are AMAZING
She is a poor blogger! She chose to stay at a 5 star hotel and then grumble about it!! Sheesh..please do not return! We will be richer without an ignoramus like you😂😂😂😂
I’m a Korean and I love love Singapore. Singapore actually has so many beautiful nature attractions. There are so much more than just shopping and eating. Do some research girl!! I can’t believe she didn’t even check out national museum, national art gallery - didn’t even attempt to learn Singapore history while being here and yet complain 🤦🏻♀️

True. A Google search about hidden gems in Singapore would show many articles about not commonly known architecture, historic landmarks, gardens, eateries etc Btw nice Idia profile picture
@@ellie1508 Now this comment sound more like a list of things-to-do, not many other Singaporeans commenting WILD WILD WET, SENTOSA, MBS, KARAOKE, I genuinely feel bad for them
Maybe it was the taxi driver's attitude. Maybe it was hers. Most of the times I took a taxi from Changi Airport, the drivers offered to help, but I always said "Its ok, I can do it." In fact, many of them rushed out of their taxi once they drove into the lot, to open the boot. The others who didn't, I just did it on my own. No issue.
Agreed. The taxi driver is paid to drive you to your destination, not help you lift luggages into their vehicles. Ofc, it would've been kind of them if they were to help (which is usually the case for me), but they're literally not required to do so lol. Doesn't she have her own hands to put them in?? Calling someone rude just cause of this + they didn't smile, sounds so strange to me lmao

May be She have visited several South East Asia countries like Malaysia , Thailand and Indonesia , expecting Singaporean to act like Japanese people very polite. Singaporean might be more hardworking than Malaysian but in terms of manners I think Malaysian is more like Japanese people .
I am TIRED of people who grew up in western countries coming here and complaining about how expensive we are when I know damn well they're *only* going to places like MBS and eating at restaurants in highly touristy areas..... you wan't cheap stuff go look for it la it's *everywhere*
there are mid range restaurants that costs 10-20 bucks in the basement of most shopping centres... Even food courts or hawkers offer below 10 dollars meals.@@lifeeasier3462
At one point, she mention a previous trip.. which meant this is at least her 2nd trip here. Another note, she mention that she hate it so much (coming to Singpaore). So if she hate it so much, why did she bother to come for a 2nd trip??? That doesn't make sense. Not to mention her friend who act as a tour guide, he must have betrayed her for huge commission that she hate this 2nd trip so much!
I’ve lived in Singapore for 14 years and see tourists like this young lady all to often. To many people visit this beautiful island country without doing any research about what they can do in Singapore! The truth is Singapore is no longer just a stopover while traveling to Asia, Singapore has come of age . You can easily spend a couple of weeks or more discovering this incredible city and have exciting things to do everyday. DO YOU RESEARCH BEFORE YOU START YOUR TRIP…
Well, when my Japanese friend came over to stay in SG for 10 days, I brought her to Wild Wild Wet, USS, Sentosa Beach, Sentosa Ludge, Karaoke, Mdame Tussaudss... there's so many things to do that we got so tired not enough energy to see more of Singapore...
Singapore actually has tons of things to do. Just that we don't usually go and do some of these activities. I also planned my Japanese friend's time when he visited last year. realised there are so many things i want him to see but 5 days isn't enough!
oh did you know there was a hotspring at sambawang? i saw in a video today the hotspring can only soak foot in too bad cant soak whole body. I was like, really meh? i didnt know, next time i will arrange to go with my friends there too.
@@pinky84ism I always went past it in the bus but never visited before. I think some of the PRCs hanging out there have some ugly behaviours based on videos I watched.
Tbh, even though some of her points were reasonable, it generally seemed like she probably didn't do much research coming here to figure out what to explore and look for, and perhaps thought she could rely on a local friend/someone who doesn't look like a person who would've been knowledgeable enough to be a tour guide. And maybe her experience was soured from the whole "value for money" problem that started with her stay at MBS. As far as I know, based on many travel blog reviews, the general consensus is that Singapore hotels aren't exactly world-leading so, it would have been pretty foolish to judge "value for money" based on the hotels here.
tbh, if she had value of money in the first place, wouldn't even stay in mbs, there are definitely other options, at this point there's this thing called ignorance, and a lot of travellers do that then complain bcs it's expensive, ( sg still expensive ah, if ever try to call for repairs or etc still damn ex), but really there are a lot of good places.
In my opinion, the whole point of her video is attention seeking and to make people who havent come to Singapore before have second thought about coming here.
When I was in Singapore, I visited a model flying field. The locals there took me in. Drove me to my hotel. Collected me every day. Travelled around Singapore. Ate in their houses. All the people and families were so hospitable. Had a great time. All totally unplanned.
As an American who recently studied abroad in Singapore for a semester recently, Singapore was really fun and a memorable experience! I think the point she made about Singapore being "too westernized" was quite interesting because one could say the same about Taipei, Tokyo, and Seoul. However its also really clear that Singapore is an Asian country, it doesn't take much to notice that. Also I kinda do agree with her about the taxi thing because Singapore was the only country where I had to put the luggage in myself (this didn't occur anywhere else when I was in SEA nor in SK and Japan). As well as Singaporeans talking about money; I've never met a group of people so focused on talking about money above everything else. Aside from that, the people were great.
It's actually a social ... malfunction or jam... when Singaporeans try to get to know each other, they tend to try finding a common topic to shoot the breeze about and ironically, the most common "get to know you" question for Singapore guys is "What unit were you in?" due to conscription, it's something they can all complain about, some of my Malaysian friends even made fun about this habit. So.... what happens when you take this "common topic" away? They struggle to find another "common topic" and unfortunately the "next best common thing" is your job and salary. So it's not totally about being money minded but also about it being the "lowest common denominator".
i mean being the hub of SEA is pretty much going to make sg a bit more westernized, but tbh, that's somewhat expected, especially in an island this small, but you venture outside the tourist spots, you'll see a lot more. for taxi i'd somewhat agree, it was better pre covid, but after covid i think it got worse. also everything here is expensive af, so making money is important LOL
Actually the Koreans are more materialistic and love money more. Maybe you could not join them in their convos so you didn’t know? My experience with taxi drivers however was mostly positive except once. I do expect them to help me. I will just stand around and wait lol.
With regards to taxi drivers helping with luggage, I believe it is not a rule that they must, but if asked nicely, they will help. I never have much issue with them as most will voluntarily help without me asking. In fact, I have found taxi drivers not helping with my luggage when I was in US. Anyway, not a big deal to me because as a frequent traveller, I always believe in being able to handle my own luggage anytime, anywhere.
Something must have pissed her off during her trip in Singapore ... maybe her attitude attracted a lot of local unhappiness. Anyway, I won't even bother to check out her video, because if 998 tourists praise Singapore and 2 others are unhappy, it says a lot about the two.
As an Indonesian, I will merely highlight one thing about the super Westernized term @2:13. I think that's not exactly correct because Singapore is so diverse, but the way the citizens live daily somehow are influenced by Western culture and that makes Singapore is interesting and unique in my opinion, Easternized and Westernized combination.

I am from Bangladesh and a frequent traveler to Singapore (more than 10 times since 2009), among other countries. I have visited Singapore on account of work, medical treatment and also as a tourist. All things considered, it is by far the best country in the world for traveling. There is much, much more to Singapore than the shopping and the food, and I am not talking about only the museums, the theme parks or the zoos. There are a lot of hidden gems, of heritage and of nature. I also love the Singaporean people and their quirky sense of humor. Above all, I love the fact that despite having achieved so much as a nation over the past 50 years, Singaporeans are not conceited or abrasive when they interact with foreigners.
I just went on google and found SO many activities and events. So many botanical gardens, art galleries, museums, etc. All the places I’d be interested in seeing as a tourist. A zoo or two, and something about an adventure park and/or zip lining. I’m a dork though; I love a little pool/beach lounging and learning/walking.
I’m from Hong Kong and have been to Singapore many many times, I love SG and want to go back again. She needs a better tour guide lmao, I had so much fun exploring local places when I went the last time I went.
I’m not Singaporean. I can’t help but feel that she’s indirectly telling people she’s rich ( by staying and eating in posh restaurants ) but needs “publicity” by trying to be “different” to make herself “popular” by making unpopular remarks, just like what a person that wants to be famous chose to be “infamous” as she’ll be famous either way. That’s lateral thinking !
She is not rich if she needs to complain about expensive prices at posh restaurants. She may be in the upper wealth bracket in her country (likely a developing/3rd world country) or she has only ever travelled to developing/3rd-world countries before. Because you can only expect reasonable prices at posh places in developing countries. Any well developed countries are expensive when you go to the posh places.
As an “avid” traveller, she should’ve done her research before the trip. Prices, attractions, what to find there and see there, etc. Asia is a huge continent with vast differences between each country so if she doesn’t want the developed city, she could’ve opted to go to other countries. There are also plenty of attractions in Singapore that are world-class which she won’t find in the neighbouring countries.
I was in S'pore from 1963 to 1968 and went to MGS till Sec1, due to my father's work. I love S'pore and considered it my second home. Later I had the chance to revisit again when my son graduated. It was a nostalgic journey. Went back to see my old school (which no longer was there at Mt. Sophia. Met my old neighbour and classmate. (still keeping touch all those years- more than 55 years). What I missed most was the food. During my stay there was no food courts or Hawker Centers yet. My friend sent me a cook book and I tried to make those dishes but now there are restaurants here selling S'porean dishes. Btw I'm from Burma.
She complains like a true westerner! I’ve been staying in Singapore for the past month, and as a tourist I feel there is so much to do. I stayed at MBS for a few days and they were amazing, customer service was top notch, but I knew better than to eat at their restaurants 😂 Singapore is my favorite destination and hopefully I can call it home one day.
Museums are a great place to start. I took my Australian hubby to the Peranakan Museum and he was fascinated with the culture. We then explored the Fort Canning walking trail and beading workshop in Joo Chiat and then local coffee shop in that vicinity. Nothing touristy about these places and yet he had heaps of fun and saw a side to SG that he wouldn’t have seen simply through MBS
Thissss. Like “it’s only eating and shopping” but what is it that youre looking for? U surely shouldn’t come here for lake / beautiful beach / river rafting but there are other activities

Well, we're like Modern Malacca and Penang rolled into one. We were the straits settlement once before. The best way to appreciate Singapore is to visit these back lanes before they're all gone and the cultural museums. And when you're done, just step back to modern society! That's what I love abt living here. Enjoy all the modern conveniences and yet still keeping the history from when our ancestors' days who made the trip from China, India, Indonesia, Philippines hundreds of years ago. Makes me appreciate our own heritage even more. What's more beautiful is how each race came to be.. The Indians, Chinese, Peranakans, Malays and Eurasians.. Some might argue that we should not have different races to make up a country but the fear is that, we might forget our roots, which we should be equally proud of
My dear. Not only Singapore is expensive but the whole world. If us as tourists who travel overseas too feel the same. If you want luxury, it's expensive. If you want to know more about a country just explore. Singapore is just a dot in the map. That's the best we can do. Every country does have people with all kinds of characters. That's human. We need to have a gd characters that we can't expect from others. Don't judge others for the doing of one person....cheer up dear.
I think if she like natural so much. Why never go botanical gardens or Palau ubin. Probably used to comfortable lifestyle which is usually more affordable in other sea country. And honestly comparing Singapore price point to European country its REALLY good. Also 50 bucks for in room breakfast isn't unexpected. I was charged 40 bucks for a non alcoholic beverages in a hotel overseas but I don't call the whole country over priced.
I got triggered about the artificial comment because SG has so few resources so we have to put in effort to build up our country with our people and "man-made things" and I felt that the comment showed that she didn't know about this part of SG's history or reputation and it sounds like an insult to the hard work of all the generations before us :( And we still got jungle lah I think that's natural enough LOL
I am Malaysian and had visited Singapore various times since 1979 till present time. I find the tourist's comments are not fairly made. Singapore is a great place and locals are super friendly.
Yea of course it costs you a fortune to stay at MBS. Like, what was she expecting??? After an Indo living in Singapore for a few years, sometimes it baffles me when people say Singapore is boring but then say they only went to Orchard area. Like dude, you could've gone to Tiong Bahru, eat at Tanjong Pagar, and walk around the city. By that I mean walk through Bugis - Bras Basah - City Hall - Raffles Place - Clarke Quay, it's basically a circle of interesting places there.
I call BS on that. She went to 33 countries but stuck to only a certain radius of her hotel in SG? Doesn't sound like much of a traveller. I mean, poor girl had to resort to eating at hawker centres like the local peasants. How tragic 😂
My god, the ignorance of some people! do they know we are one of the most accessible countries in Asia? I bet they dont. I am a wheelchair user and appreciate that most places are accessible for me except the older parts. We may just hear her 30+ countries being mostly 3rd world getaways, so they are such value for money! Land is expensive here, of course hotels are going to be cheap. and what is she, MBS VIP, expecting VIP treatment? I just feel it is oozing entitlement. The local guide must not know wtf he is doing.
U stayed at MBS and complained about Singapore being expensive? 😭then complained about Singapore being "artificial" only after visiting locations built for tourism? 😭
@@shaneethan523 aiyo macritchie pretty lah but wayyyy too many monkeys. I speak from experience because I have CCA there multiple times a week. Maybe somewhere like Jurong Lake Garden?
I Singaporean, and travel frequently for business.. Some taxi drivers are indeed not helpful and friendly.. but there are many things to do in Singapore..
The amount she spent at MBS could have extended her stay for many more days to experience SG as an Asian country with fun things to do. I'm a born and bred Singaporean who does not travel much. There are so many places in SG that I've not visited and lots more to do but can't coz I'm so busy adulting. 😅
Actually Singapore being a small country, can't really expect there will be a random snowcapped mountain and huge waterfall. A lot of things are manmade since that's what tourist attractions are usually at cities. To be honest Singapore hotel pricing is so crazy though, even for 2 star hotel. It's much more expensive than places like Japan. but of course, it's really a You thing, if you not willing to pay, just u know don't go. I go SG for day trips it's much cheaper, go see concert and come back. Done no need pay hotel. Of course that's the perks of being neighbours.
I just love visiting Singapore. Local people are friendly and helpful and so hospitable. I find their taxi drivers mostly entertaining and have some great conversations. Plus the food and shopping…that will always be why I would stopover in Singapore than other cities from Australia to Europe.
If I had the money to travel to Singapore then I would also make the effort and think about what I want to see beforehand. If she is only in the hotel and in the city on the road, it is clear that she sees only that. There are some nice hiking trails and more that I would visit. But Miss big city probably does not want dirt under her made nails. I know everyone is different, but only look at half and then complain about it. Really not the charming and serious way for a self-appointed travel critic ^^`
I LOVE Singapore so much. And I have enjoyed the nature side of it as well as the city. It's all amazing to me (especially the buses for some reason I love them lol). Love from Australia :)
So she starts out with “people are rude, taxi driver didn’t smile and made her put her own luggage in the car.” Um, while I could understand the last bit I also feel like she’s taking it too personally
I am Malaysian. I seen a phrase, Singapore Garden City, if I remember correctly it was at the back of the $5 note, there are nice gardens such as Japanese Garden, Chinese Garden, nice museum, such as Fort Caning Battle Box, National Museum, there is a museum in town about transportation, forgot the name already. Food....Albert Food court is good, some dishes at Encik Tan is good. Hotel... I just need a place to sleep and refresh, Hotel Bencoolen, Hotel 81 were my choice. Best tour, The Original Singapore Walk has a number of choice of tours that show Singapore culture.
p.s. Most taxi drivers in other cities I've travelled to in Asia and Europe also do not help with luggage, unless you've booked a private hire or airport transfer. But I've also come across local taxi drivers who helped me with my luggage when I returned from overseas.
I’ve never had that issue tbh. If they helped me with putting my luggage in the boot of their vehicle, they’ve helped me with taking it out… UNLESS the drop off point requires them to quickly alight u and they basically need to drive off immediately coz if not they might get fined for stopping there. Alternatively before u alight, u could mention you need help- “Uncle so sorry to trouble u again, but can u help me with my luggage? Thanks so much!” I mean we have a mouth to ask and if we do so politely, most of them will help.
Depends on how old your cabbie is. Also, if you are slow, there’s a likelier chance your cabbie will come out to help you unload. When I needed the boot, cabbies are more likely to help. Some cabbies are particular about luggage storage and the condition of their interior so those will help.
if ur going for vacation anywhere in the world dont complain about is expensive la , no money dont travel easy u want cheap stuff go bangladesh..im a malaysian , singapore is a beautiful country even though currency is higher , i still dont complain about the price coz im there for holiday not stress...
living in SG for years now, yes, I wouldn't be surprised someone describing it artificial. NOW, this is not the Singaporean problem. It's not their issue. yes there are no big mountains, more kampong rivers, kampong beaches with natural white sand... very few hills.
Im in singapore now and id say they are more reserved and keep to themselves which can come across as rude to the average westerner. Their singlish is quite fast short and a bit blunt. I don't know if thats how they are but it just feels unwelcoming. I think the attractions and gems makes it great to visit but i overall i would not want to live here.
We went to Singapore a few days ago, and we did encounter SOME Hawker sellers that are a bit rude, like giving us side eyes and felt like they do not want to serve us lol (i think its also because of language barrier since some of them do not speak english) BUT that just a very small subset, 90% of the time, Singaporeans are so friendly to us, and even says words from our language to greet us. We can't wait to go back there. Your country is so beautiful.
LOL, i'm not even singaporean and i know what's lau pa sat and marina bay sands, this b literally went to the MOST TOURIST spot you go. $50 for food, knn, you eat at hotel resto what you expect, went to the hawker center that's infront of bugis+, got cai fan, got a lot of side dish, not even $7 you can even go to taka and still get cheaper food than whatever she had.
In my personal opinion, taxi drivers will help to put your luggage in the taxi unless they are elderly or have medical problems. Asking how much one makes is a taboo question but then again its cultural and being a 'well-travelled' tourist, she should know better and just brush it off.
I guess what’s worth a place ‘to visit and nice country’ to her is the currency where’s she’s originally from is stronger than the country she visits. (Do your homework. Not that you’d just discovered we are a very tiny city state and a developed country. And one of the most expensive countries if not the most).
No one should be inclined to carry your baggage for you. Firstly in case of damages to the baggage and secondly some people overload their baggage and expect others to carry it for them. Not many people like to carry 20kg 25kg baggage for you. Your bag, you carry.
whenever i went to pakistan, uae, saudi arabia, and canada they all helped out with putting my luggage in the car. its not like its something theyre forced to do or even part of their job but its a really nice gesture
If you are honest to yourself then it's true Singaporeans can be rude if they want to be so. The heartland Singaporeans can be crass due to living stress and culture upbringings. The high ses type are often seen being rude too for their own reasons in life. They follow the path of elitists in life where kindness is seen as weakness so they choose to be haughty. Of course there are still good manner Singaporeans everywhere but if we want to focus on the bad ones then it is still relatively easy to find them in their various respective environments in Singapore. You want to find the common bad manner ones you can look for them in the heartlands. You want to find the elitist snobs you can find them in the condos, offices and CBD areas.
theres a writing on the taxi stands on the airport. “please dont be rude to the taxi drivers, they are working as hard for your convenience”. in the hospital “please be patient to our admins, we work for your convenience”. i rarely see that in other countries. that itself speaks volume.
@@anglo-saxonconnor817 Of course I read yr para 2. Jes reinforcing the point that all countries r the same. But I wouldn't frame my observations abt low n high SES the way u did. May be offensive to some.
I have traveled to Singapore twice, and I still wanted to come back because there are more places I didn’t get to explore. Like what some people said in the comments, museums are great places to start. There is so much of Singaporean history, art, and culture that are so interesting to learn about. Hort Park and Singapore Botanical Gardens are great places to be in terms of nature. The latter being more educational for me and the space is so vast enough to explore from time to time. For me, the best thing in Singapore to encounter are the libraries inside some malls. It’s very unheard of in my country and the very few library cafes still require to order something. I like reading a lot, so being in such beautiful & accessible libraries would sometimes be the itinerary of the day.
With the more than a dozen taxis I boarded at the airport only one that I encountered was eirrily quiet (rude?), hey, the guy could be driving the whole day and probably exhausted. But if I want nature well, the Bukit Timah connector, Ubin Island, Sungai Buloh and love the farms at Sungai Tengah, didn't like Sentosa Island. Cycle lah! Rent a bike is free :)
Strange as everytime I arrived in Singapore Changi, the taxi drivers were already standing there with the cab trunk opened to help you put in the luggage.
Singapore was good in the 80s and 90s, now the surrounding countries are providing same or better services and experience for less money and more cheerful and welcoming attitude.
I personally like visiting Singapore a lot. Since I live in a country near by, I visit Singapore very often for my short vacation. I have never had any bad experience with local people so far. There should be bad people out there but people in general are normal. There definitely are culture differences but not about rudeness for sure. What I feel is that people in Singapore are accustomed to multi-cultural society, so they are understanding. I often see locals at bus stops or even inside buses help foreigners.
If she actually researched about Singapore she would find some hidden gems instead of acting like it is so artificial and the taxi, I have never seen someone complain about putting their suitcases in the trunk themselves like seriously get over it also it’s literally a unspoken rule only singaporeans and talk shit about Singapore
She expected SG to be a developing country and having staff to order around. Now if she booked an actual limo service, she has the right to complain. Taxi drivers in SG rude? She hasn’t met the taxi dudes in HK…and the taxi drivers charge a fee for luggage handling in HK.
Such a Singapore thing to happen. My 1st solo travel to Singapore I was asked by the immigration officer of my intention in Singapore, I said, I was only going to stop for a night, heading to Johor the next day. Her response: Good. Good riddance. And stamped my passport very aggresively. 😂😂😂 If you are wondering about context, there was none. My turn at the immi, got asked that one question, and got that one reply. Life went on. I still go to Singapore occasionally of course, you guys get all the concerts!😂
Talking about bad immigration experiences... I have bad immigration experiences from other countries as well... Immigration Officers are humans as well... they probably just had a bad day... Life goes on...
Truth be told, Singapore ain't cheap so if you can't afford it maybe you want to look somewhere else. She's like driving a Lambo and complain about the fc.
It is like going to an branded shop and complaining about the how expensive the products are when there are other shops which sells the same product at an affordable price.
Nah she has a point. I’m Singaporean myself and I’ve heard countless Singaporeans say the same thing she said. We can’t hate in every foreigner who criticises our country, especially when a lot of us feel the same way. To be blunt, it’s pretty hypocritical and reactive
Which points of hers do you agree with? I personally only agree with (1) everything is so westernised + (2) everything is so expensive. Everything else was just plain stupid imo lol. So just because a taxi driver didn’t smile at her and didn’t help her put her luggage in the vehicle, ALL the locals are rude?? She’s literally acting like she doesn’t have hands to do it herself.. Usually in SG, taxi drivers do actually help me, but if they don’t, I can do it myself. I don’t expect them to do what’s out of their job description lol. They’re getting paid to drive us around not put our shit into their vehicles. She said, “what else do you do in SG besides eat and shop?”. Wow. This honestly baffled me. If she even BOTHERED to search up ‘things to do in SG’, she would’ve already known what SG has to offer. From what her video shows, she spent majority of her SG trip in MBS and occasionally hawker centres? If she didn’t venture out of those areas, how can she expect to do anything else other than ‘eat and shop’ lmfao. As for the ‘Singapore didn’t feel like an Asian country’… seriously? What did she expect? She visited TOURIST attractions designed for TOURISTS aka foreigners. If she really wanted to see more asians, then go out of MBS?? Or maybe she wanted to see people dancing lion dance and wearing traditional clothings out in the open in MBS lol. The statement she made literally gives the same energy as telling, for example, a Japanese person, “Hey… you don’t look Japanese”. Like what? Do you want them to yell kawaii or anime lines every few seconds?? I actually visited her actual tiktok page and she had this other particular one where she rated countries out of 10, based on her stay. She rated Niseko, Japan, a 6.5/10, and one of her reasons was that it ‘didn’t feel like Japan’. Damn funny lol. Seems like she has a habit of saying this, which comes off as extremely stereotypical and rude. ‘Everything feels so artificial and man-made’. Also her: shows vids of MBS at that exact same moment, which are obviously ARTIFICAL. I feel the same as what the guy mentioned in his vid. ‘It feels like the Las Vegas of Asia but not quite there yet’. Lmfao. Marina Bay SANDS. SANDS. Literally, MBS is owned by Las Vegas Sands in agreement with the SG authorities. Ironic for her to say ‘but not quite there yet’, lol. I agree with her point about stuff being expensive and westernised as shit. She’s right about that, imo. Point is, yes, foreigners CAN criticise our country, but not like what she did. She obviously put across several claims about SG, and her video suggests she didn’t do enough research about SG before making a sweeping statement about the entirety of our country. We are not hypocritical if we get upset about her, because she’s clearly wrong lol. Edit: sorry for the long cmt, I was just extremely mad about this whole situation and needed somewhere to vomit it out 💀
my personal reasons why sg is expensive: 1. inflation 2. from what i heard sg is a country that earns the most money from the tourists that visit us. as mentioned since mbs is a popular hotel, the prices will be higher to get the most money. tourists are what is boosting our economy the most which is why they are technically 'sucking your money'. also, stuff in the city area is generally more expensive like in orchard. if you went to orchard food court it will definitely be more expensive than a neighbourhood one. its a you thing girl. you chose to stay city area
Every country has good and bad people. To generalized the whole country is not accurate or nice. 😒 I live in the U.S. and encountered many rude situations, but I will not say the whole country is rude. There are rude and polite people everywhere.
We play timezone, study, and do gacha pulls. Wat she expecting? China in singapore? NOH NOH NOHHH WE FARM RICE CHICKENS like what in the char siew bao did you expect
ok, honestly if you think sg has nth to do, thats prob becuz you/ppl nowadays have 0 hobbies becuz ppl in this generation nowadays only obsesses over social media/watching dramas or netflix etc./sleeping. ask yourself, what is your hobby? if you do not have any hobbies, you cannot complain that sg has nth for you to do, becuz you yourself are not interested to do anythingg lolz... if you are someone who loves to try stuff, there's actly so much to do in sg, you jus have to pay for it. Karaoke, bowling, going to the libraries, museums, darts, pool, rollerblading, cycling, ice skating, amusement park, swimming, going on mini hikes, baking/cooking/martial arts lessons, rockclimbing, even bungee jumping to name a few... it depends on your mindset and how adventurous you are. i mean if you are not interested in any of the above examples, then its your problem and not sg's problem. its rly amazing how much you can do in sg given that its one of the smallest country not just in Asia but in the entire world. ppl needs to stop complaining... i rly hate the cancel culture shitz. ppl, esp the newer generation need to know how to appreciate and be grateful for the things that the older generation has done and made possible. i mean without them, we would still be a fishing village now. and by the way, before anyone says anything, i am a gen z myself and not some old Karen just hating on the new generation
Seriously, I dun get these people who visit Singapore and complained that it is expensive!! Hello, didn’t she know WE are the one of the most expensive city in the world??? And SG currency is so strong, tourist even complained that a bottle of drinking water is so ex… 😂 My friend went to Dubai and OMG… many places are man made too… but she enjoy the trip as the attractions were very fascinating to her. Is a personal choice sia… hate is a very strong word!!
Her comment about Singapore being 'man-made' and made for entertainment seems fair to me, I myself as a Singaporean would describe us the same to tourist. However, I don't think its fair for her to categorize this as a 'bad thing'. If you want beautiful mountain views, sea views, and architecture that stems hundreds of years, go to Europe, Singapore is not the place for you. It's like going to New York City expecting it be Mongolia or something. Different places offer different things. Same goes for the point about Singapore being a place just to eat and shop. I honestly feel like all her cons would not be cons if she just did her research and manage her expectations. Her point about mbs is not new. I've seen this all over the internet. Popular place = many tourist = crowded and may be uncomfortable. That just seems like common sense to me.
and she said her opinions. she expected more natural and traditional spots which singapore doesnt have. 😂. she is right on her opinions to be honest. singapore is like a if Karen’s diner is a country.
That might be true but without all the cleanup in line with LKY’s vision, we would not have returning species to our island and the restoration of our biodiversity. We are still the only Asian country that you can call Garden City with authenticity.
i think theres more to do than going to these man made attractions. She should have googled and went on tripadvisor-Top Nature and parks in singapore. Discover dozens of attractions, parks like sungei buloh nature reserve, har par villa.etc, Hiked up henderson wave then to Mount faber for the views, take cable car to sentosa island. you can spend hours on this. Honestly no research done.
It's always fascinating to see people expecting service providers to serve above and beyond their posts. A driver's job is to drive you to and fro your locations; anything else is not a given. Always appreciate all service providers.
Nothing to do? For the jaded I guess. We have internationally known zoos and bird parks, we have nature trails, water sports, lots of heritage trails and museums for the historically and artistically inclined. We may not have operas or classical concerts but you can go to Europe for that. If you are a person of very limited interests, then yes, Singapore will be as boring as you but so will every where else.
she has a point tho, singaporean is full of expat it doesn't feel like I'm in asia, everything is so westernized, from building down to culture and the people esp the young generation
To be fair, 5 star hotels dont always mean better service, it just means a posh environment, the bigger the hotel, the worse the service, 😂 this i can also testify 😂, i work in a 74 room 3 star hotel and despite working alone most of the time, i have had multiple positive Guest Reviews on Booking so yup, lets be real, unless you get a Butler, service in 5 star hotels is sort of bo chap at best 😂
We all know that anything TikTok influencer related content shouldn't be taken seriously. The point about Singaporean's being rude is kinda true, but that's like the minority of Singaporeans. But everything else was her own self doing and has nothing to do with Singapore being boring or artificial.
I remember the one time I visit Singapore long time ago. And yes, the taxi driver ain't smiling, the hotel reception ain't smiling, the restaurant waiter ain't smiling, the street food vendor ain't smiling. But they give good and efficient service. And one of the experience I remember there is not the non smiling people, it's the fun I have strolling Orchard road and having ice cream sandwich. If you want waterfall and smiley people go to Bali. Every place have different experiences to offer. Heck, even in Indonesia not every place is full of smiley people, try to go to Manado, lol
Actually the smile part is probably u caught them on a bad day that's all. From start of work, they probably can smile until maybe close to end of work they are tired that's all.

At one point, she mention a previous trip.. which meant this is at least her 2nd trip here. Another note, she mention that she hate it so much (coming to Singpaore).
So if she hate it so much, why did she bother to come for a 2nd trip??? That doesn't make sense. Not to mention her friend who act as a tour guide, he must have betrayed her for huge commission that she hate this 2nd trip so much!
i feel like asking Singapore to blacklist her from coming Singapore ever again lol
As someone who’s stayed in sg for months and traveled around, I wholeheartedly disagree with this lady.

Dirty Karaok ?
oh did you know there was a hotspring at sambawang? i saw in a video today the hotspring can only soak foot in too bad cant soak whole body. I was like, really meh? i didnt know, next time i will arrange to go with my friends there too.
@@pinky84ism I always went past it in the bus but never visited before. I think some of the PRCs hanging out there have some ugly behaviours based on videos I watched.
In the list that you shared, I have only done USS, the bench and karaok. The rest I have never done yet.
As far as I know, based on many travel blog reviews, the general consensus is that Singapore hotels aren't exactly world-leading so, it would have been pretty foolish to judge "value for money" based on the hotels here.
tbh, if she had value of money in the first place, wouldn't even stay in mbs, there are definitely other options, at this point there's this thing called ignorance, and a lot of travellers do that then complain bcs it's expensive, ( sg still expensive ah, if ever try to call for repairs or etc still damn ex), but really there are a lot of good places.
she clearly didnt know what she signed up for expecting sg to be dirt cheap here, cannot splurge so ended up not impressed 🥲 what a sad story
I agree
Bingo !
ya, exactly. Its a you thing

Thank you Sir
I just went on google and found SO many activities and events. So many botanical gardens, art galleries, museums, etc. All the places I’d be interested in seeing as a tourist.
There are also plenty of attractions in Singapore that are world-class which she won’t find in the neighbouring countries.
the sheer self-entitlement of her…yikes

Some might argue that we should not have different races to make up a country but the fear is that, we might forget our roots, which we should be equally proud of
The museums and art galleries are great. I coild spend hours in those places.
Singapore is not scenic as Europe. But a basic research should give you what to expect. She is horrible in researching I guess.
Mandai exist as well
I got triggered about the artificial comment because SG has so few resources so we have to put in effort to build up our country with our people and "man-made things" and I felt that the comment showed that she didn't know about this part of SG's history or reputation and it sounds like an insult to the hard work of all the generations before us :( And we still got jungle lah I think that's natural enough LOL
😂 This type of tourist is not welcome in Singapore.
I am Malaysian and had visited Singapore various times since 1979 till present time. I find the tourist's comments are not fairly made. Singapore is a great place and locals are super friendly.
So are Malaysian too.... super friendly. Greeting from a Singaporean.
By that I mean walk through Bugis - Bras Basah - City Hall - Raffles Place - Clarke Quay, it's basically a circle of interesting places there.
she travels to many countries before but was shocked by the prices in Singapore? didn't u do ur research?
I'm curious about which country she travelled before.
Indeed. Nobody has ever said, "Let's go to Singapore, that looks cheap!" Doesn't stop SG from being an amazing place I always love to visit though.
😭then complained
about Singapore being "artificial" only after visiting locations built for tourism? 😭
She should have visited places like Clementi forest, MacRitchie Reservoir and SG Botanical Gardens.
@@shaneethan523 or the nice beaches at Sentosa or near the Airport
she basically visited places that are still "quite" new.
Still plenty of domestics from the Philippines working there. You can ask them.
She’s expecting to be a queen, served with tip top luxuries but with only $10
The amount she spent at MBS could have extended her stay for many more days to experience SG as an Asian country with fun things to do.
So she starts out with “people are rude, taxi driver didn’t smile and made her put her own luggage in the car.”
Um, while I could understand the last bit I also feel like she’s taking it too personally
I love the fact that taxi drivers offer to pick up my luggage at the airport, but at the time of drop off, total ignore. lol
Thanks so much!”
I mean we have a mouth to ask and if we do so politely, most of them will help.
IMO I think it's because they think the lifting is the hard part while the "getting it out" is simply letting gravity do its' work.
I died at your last sentence 😭😭😭 she would probably complain about the weird noises if she ever stays in hotel 81 LOL.

For someone so well travelled, not much effort is put into the itinerary tho.
Its like going to New York and visiting times square only
LOL, i'm not even singaporean and i know what's lau pa sat and marina bay sands, this b literally went to the MOST TOURIST spot you go.
Asking how much one makes is a taboo question but then again its cultural and being a 'well-travelled' tourist, she should know better and just brush it off.
lol normally if they tried to make conversation, they would start with "Have you eaten?"😆
One is just hospitality to help someone after a long flight.
Also no one carries 20-25kg of luggage.
whenever i went to pakistan, uae, saudi arabia, and canada they all helped out with putting my luggage in the car. its not like its something theyre forced to do or even part of their job but its a really nice gesture

If you stay in MBS, you just don’t complain about being expensive. You literally chose to burn money.
The 'local tour guide' could be a tinder match or a showaround 'guide' looking to make 'new friends' or anyone in between.
True, singaporeans are rude i dont know why some singaporeans cannot take this criticism. 😂😂😂
Talking about bad immigration experiences... I have bad immigration experiences from other countries as well... Immigration Officers are humans as well... they probably just had a bad day...
Life goes on...
Yup. I'd probably be cringy if I were to be working 12 hours for 6 days straight in a week!?
Truth be told, Singapore ain't cheap so if you can't afford it maybe you want to look somewhere else. She's like driving a Lambo and complain about the fc.
It is like going to an branded shop and complaining about the how expensive the products are when there are other shops which sells the same product at an affordable price.
thats crazy how an expat expect us to be whole asean country
For someone who has travelled to 33 countries, she didn't seem very good at doing research of a country prior to visiting it
Nah she has a point. I’m Singaporean myself and I’ve heard countless Singaporeans say the same thing she said. We can’t hate in every foreigner who criticises our country, especially when a lot of us feel the same way. To be blunt, it’s pretty hypocritical and reactive
Singapore isn’t a hell hole by any means, but it has its problems. Not every foreigner that criticises Singapore is an entitled human being
Which points of hers do you agree with?
Edit: sorry for the long cmt, I was just extremely mad about this whole situation and needed somewhere to vomit it out 💀
@@25_kylie16 haha, dat two points i entirely agree with.. The rest of it are bullshit.
my personal reasons why sg is expensive:
1. inflation
2. from what i heard sg is a country that earns the most money from the tourists that visit us. as mentioned since mbs is a popular hotel, the prices will be higher to get the most money. tourists are what is boosting our economy the most which is why they are technically 'sucking your money'. also, stuff in the city area is generally more expensive like in orchard. if you went to orchard food court it will definitely be more expensive than a neighbourhood one. its a you thing girl. you chose to stay city area
Every country has good and bad people. To generalized the whole country is not accurate or nice. 😒 I live in the U.S. and encountered many rude situations, but I will not say the whole country is rude. There are rude and polite people everywhere.

My late mother used to work in Singapore as a nanny. I wish I had asked her what's her experience living there.
ok, honestly if you think sg has nth to do, thats prob becuz you/ppl nowadays have 0 hobbies becuz ppl in this generation nowadays only obsesses over social media/watching dramas or netflix etc./sleeping. ask yourself, what is your hobby? if you do not have any hobbies, you cannot complain that sg has nth for you to do, becuz you yourself are not interested to do anythingg lolz...
if you are someone who loves to try stuff, there's actly so much to do in sg, you jus have to pay for it. Karaoke, bowling, going to the libraries, museums, darts, pool, rollerblading, cycling, ice skating, amusement park, swimming, going on mini hikes, baking/cooking/martial arts lessons, rockclimbing, even bungee jumping to name a few... it depends on your mindset and how adventurous you are. i mean if you are not interested in any of the above examples, then its your problem and not sg's problem. its rly amazing how much you can do in sg given that its one of the smallest country not just in Asia but in the entire world. ppl needs to stop complaining... i rly hate the cancel culture shitz. ppl, esp the newer generation need to know how to appreciate and be grateful for the things that the older generation has done and made possible. i mean without them, we would still be a fishing village now.
and by the way, before anyone says anything, i am a gen z myself and not some old Karen just hating on the new generation
totally agree
Seriously, I dun get these people who visit Singapore and complained that it is expensive!! Hello, didn’t she know WE are the one of the most expensive city in the world??? And SG currency is so strong, tourist even complained that a bottle of drinking water is so ex… 😂 My friend went to Dubai and OMG… many places are man made too… but she enjoy the trip as the attractions were very fascinating to her. Is a personal choice sia… hate is a very strong word!!
I didn’t realise judging people for not using PEEL structure was such a Singaporean thing until you said it 😂😂😂
I believe she met and spoke with every singaporean through her stay here. I'm sorry i was rude to her
Singapore is known for cleanliness and safety but not for being friendly.

Discover dozens of attractions, parks like sungei buloh nature reserve, har par villa.etc, Hiked up henderson wave then to Mount faber for the views, take cable car to sentosa island. you can spend hours on this. Honestly no research done.
ignorance, self-righteousness and stupidity all blend into one.
It's always fascinating to see people expecting service providers to serve above and beyond their posts. A driver's job is to drive you to and fro your locations; anything else is not a given. Always appreciate all service providers.
Perhaps that's the expected service that they get in their home country. There are lots of countries where that is the normm.
Exactly.
Actually some said felt like china, india, pinoy because in the MRT, you have more of these foreigners than westerners
Singapore is one of the most unemotional cultures in the world. What does she expect?! 😅 Singaporeans are warm and ready to help. Just ask!
I myself encounter such rude people in Singapore and is worst . Cutting in my lane and blocking my way people a lot in singapore
We all know that anything TikTok influencer related content shouldn't be taken seriously. The point about Singaporean's being rude is kinda true, but that's like the minority of Singaporeans. But everything else was her own self doing and has nothing to do with Singapore being boring or artificial.
Just because there are some black sheep doesn't means all sheep are black.
