Body counts do matter in the prospect of a relationship. But not in the way most people think. You're not any better or worse depending on how many partners you've had. But people do view and treat sex differently. For instance it could be a reflection on your libido, as well as if you view sex as something "serious" (e.g. emotionally driven, saved for relationships) or not (e.g. hookups, one night stands). Ultimately it ends up being about compatibility.
Except people with high body counts will NEVER be suitable for long term relationships. That’s what the statistics show.

I don't think I'm ugly or anything, but my number was 0 until age 27. Not for any moral, religious or other reasons. It's not that I didn't want to, I'm just an extreme introvert and didn't participate in social activities like going to bars or parties practically at all in my entire life. People either a) don't want to say b) aren't sure what counts as a sex partner, or c) get blackout drunk.
Sometimes this is trauma related. I've been with 7 or less but the actual number is fuzzy because it started with a trauma. Then I started sleeping around as a form of denial and I was so dissociated at that point that for the couple months where I got all my partners from, it's a fuzzy blur. I can try to think back and get the actual number, but I start to heavily dissociate so I just don't.

Maybe it’s because my number is 0 but I never understood how people say they lost count of their sexual encounters. I can understand not remembering every detail about the other person but I feel like there is a lot of build up before you actually have sex with a person even it’s just a hook up I just don’t get how you “lose count” of that number or even have the time for so many people.
So… I keep a list. And every now and again I revisit it. When I do, I find myself trying hard to remember some of those people. Now, my list includes even ONS experiences, but not experiences where fluid wasn’t exchanged. If I didn’t have the list I would definitely be undercounting as I can’t remember whole experiences without jogging my memory a great deal.

Sex is not a bad thing as long as everything is consensual and safe. body count doesn’t matter, it’s just shared experiences with different people and that’s ok! Remember to get tested after each new partner and to discuss birth control options if its between two people that are able to reproduce. Sex to me doesn’t only include penetration, everyone has their own definition but as a woman who loves with women, penetration isn’t involved a lot of times! Oral sex counts as sex for me as well as any sexual act.
