      @@hipsterjesus9421 what empty words, what shortcomings??? Provide examples please. We all have limited internet access and schedules to work around, thats a personal problem and not valid criticism of dcs. VR performance is hardware related, it isnt a valid criticism of dcs either. There isnt a vr product on the market that can come even close to matching high resolution monitors in terms of graphical fidelity, the tech for VR just isnt even close to being a viable competitor yet, again, not valid criticism of dcs.
      I have never had an issue in growling sidewinders bfm/dogfight servers, you dont need to spend hours upon hours developing online relationships to have a solid multiplayer experience. That rings true even for the more complicated larger scale servers with bvr and ground attack. Again, these are personal issues that arent relevant to dcs.
      Im not saying dcs is perfect, it definitely needs improvement in a lot of areas, but the idea that you got a thousand hours of enjoyment and still arent "satisfied" is just ridiculous. Youd have all these same complaints in any other game or simulator that youve dumped a thousand+ hours in. DCS World is a game, where your only real simulation is the cockpit. The joke "Digital Cockpit Simulator" is closer to the truth than official "Digital Combat Simulator" is by itself.
    The DCS World best offering is to learn how to perform different tasks in different environments. Example, how to use a bombing table to get the bomb dropped on target. Or how to perform a proper gun strafing at low altitude and evade without overflying the target.
    The multiplayer offers possibility for proper basic flight maneuvers for dog fight. To learn the energy management and learn to control yourself when to utilize stored energy and when not. But that is it, not even BVR is properly possible be tested or played.
    The other side that DCS World offers, is same as with any other simulator really. How to navigate. So you learn how to handle radio, how to fly route and how to find the coordinates middle of nowhere and how to get back to base.
    All of these things can be done without AI. And that is where the DCS World works, when you have no AI whatsoever in use.
    But once you add AI to the equation, DCS World becomes bloated with incorrectness and failures. As simple things as dropping a bomb on truck doesn't work right. And even less about other targets that can shoot back, like a AAA or SAM.
    So many incorrectness in those that better just not to even think it at all as "simulator", and only as "Target that can do something".
    This is reason why when I want to enjoy campaign and story etc, I turn to some old 90's flight games, as even simple story in those is far better than what it is in DCS World, because the AI is far superior.

  • @MarcinP2
    @MarcinP2 3 месяца назад

    I played a lot of old fighter sims, like Falcon or Strike Fighters Project and the bandits will do perfectly timed reversals. They do a fine job pretending to be a decent pilot.
    A human can do those by predicting but AI just sees you straight on their 6 o clock (even if plane should not allow it). It never bothered me as the result is the same - no easy kills.
    I suspect DCS has realistic cone of vision obstruction but they did not code the prediction to make up for it.

    • @paristo
      @paristo 20 дней назад

      DCS didn't have that cone of vision obstruction to rear before 2019-2020. Example, you couldn't sneak a bomber from rear as they detected you instantly when you entered their detection ring. (two rings, one for detection, other for engagement. These are for all AI units.)
      And this made it so that you couldn't example come to behind and launch IR missiles and shoot target down, but they instantly on triggering missile launch, released flares and evaded.
      But then they added the rear-cone where AI is blind. So you could now sneak even below them from behind and they didn't react. Or launch missile and they didn't react to it as they couldn't see it.
      But that is not the thing otherwise for AI. The radar has basic rudimental "visual cone" scanning the correct pattern etc. But AI doesn't have such for vision.
      And that is what they should add. AI have one visual cone, that needs to scan around in proper pattern and methods as pilot are trained to do (there are good documents for this). And it would mean that AI pilot would need to middle of dog fight as well look the HUD or other instruments inside cockpit, and possible lose sight to the target. And if you fly behind the canopy or fuselage, AI should lose line of sight and try to reacquire it.
      And once the AI lose the visual lock, it should try to reacquire it by scanning to predicted area, and then start looking more expected areas and try to find the threat. Eventually start flying evasive maneuvers to escape unseen threat and get to safety.

    The milsim market is full of greedy annoying devs. They think making simulators makes them special and the people who pay exorbitant amounts of money to play them also think they're special. It's all so obnoxious.

    Still a videogame at the end of the day and games were made waaaaay harder back then, partly to compensate for being so short. Once they started pumping millions into games did they start to make them beatable.

      Falcon 4.0 has a 5 day dynamic campaign, Falcon 3.0 has three planes and like 10 theaters campaigns red flag.... DCS cries to think about it

      @@andrewa837 hopefully the apparent resurrection of the Falcon series can smack DCS upside the head. Granted, all the mission planning features might scare away most DCS players; but at the same time, maybe not with a 21st-century UI

    DCS is a strange game no doubt! I love Wings over Flanders field because I boot it up and I am placed on a field with my squad mates and we fire up the engines and go. Yes the FM is sucky but the way you just get in a plane and start engines and then have to fly patrol missions with random generated enemies.....it baffles me to no end that DCS cant even do this. WOFF does not have a dynamic campaign and its still amazing. DCS or rather ED are not capable of even a random patrol generator? Click campaign and it just auto generates missions over and over and be random? I mean how "EDIT" easy is this compared to creating an actual dynamic campaign? Anyway not to shit on DCS cause its great at systems but my good God it sucks at immersion and that makes me sad.

    So you compare MiG29 vs F-16 to F-16 vs F-16 and F-16 vs MiG-29 to F-16 vs F-5.
    If you’re comparing simulators then you should run direct comparisons.

    No aircraft has pulled 7g for two seconds. I personally destroyed the DCS forum mods which caused the developers to leave in early 2023. Core DCS development has been stalled for over a year solely due to my arguments against the DCS developers.
