Ok so someone did this to my car after asking them not to, so I found this video and simply plugged it back in. The A symbol on my dash is gone but oddly enough, it's still not working. Any clue why?
When you plug it back in it should run like normal. Which means you have to press the auto stop/start button to switch modes again. For it not to work after plugging this back in, could be a bunch of other reasons.
Also one of the comments on this video, someone said you can do the same thing by disconnecting the hood open switch(I can not confirm if this works or not). Maybe check that?
Start stop system is a killer for modern diesel engine and EGR valve. Why did they put something like this in a offroad capable vehicle as Grand Cherokee is a ridle to me as I am soon going tob buy my first GC but older model ofcourse 3.0 diesel.
Ok, I just got me a Cherokee, driving home - I stopped and the engine shut off - I let go of the brake, running again - is this that auto shut off system??
@@back2ukraine1 hi Alex yes as soon as u take ur foot off brake the engine restarts. It’s annoying yes but I’d rather push a button then see an orange light with a circle on my dash.
If the little light on the dash annoys you when you disable the auto stop/start just put a piece of black electrical tape over the A on the dash.
TOP!👍

Do you think disengaging this feature solves the ongoing battery charging problems everyone is having.
I have a 2020 and so far never had a battery issue. I've also done this right when I bought it new. I will say, it sure as hell saves your starter
2016 , 65000 miles , no charging prolem or any problems . ESS disconnected 30.000 miles ago . Should be named Auto Start Stop
( A S S ) .

instead if this, you can disconncet the hood open alarm
Where’s this? One of the fuses?
2019 or ?
This was on a 2020
I would rather push a button once then to clear the message from the screen and then see an "A" on my dash which his annoying
This is for people that finds pushing a button after every start more annoying lol

you don't have to do this and you don't have to watch the video. Is all voluntary

It's just my opinion, that's what RUclips allows comments. :)
