Hi James, table looks fab. Personally I would have just used a rasp to take off the sharp corners freehand, I thinks the rounded corners takes away the effect of the live edge....if you don't like it you can still round off the corners after. Looking great though buddy....your skills have improved so much since first buying Slow Patrol ....watched you from day 1
If the weight issue is more to do with the grip of the adjusting bolts on the shaft than with imminent collapse might I suggest that as the table is only going be to used in two positions that you drill through the shaft so that the bolts penetrate through the shaft instead of on it
Will you be supporting the ends of the table when it's lowered as a bed? The weight of someone sitting on the bed at one end could lever the top off the centre support.
Maybe an ottoman, stepstool or side-table? You could have a nice little movable/standable table kicking around for the kids to climb up onto the bunks or whatever, putting your tripod or feet up on, extra seat for company on the deck, place to put your beer, etc.?
Trick to use angle grinder on wood and not gouge it. Is to not press on it and move it quickly. I've took paint of a bannister with one before. With only couple of nicks had to fill in.
I would have had it the other way up so it's wider at the top edge - that way it slopes in underneath, better for when people's legs are underneath. Just a thought.
Nice hunk of Walnut! How are you going to finish it? I use equal parts tung oil, varnish, and mineral spirits. Apply, let sit for 15 min, then wipe off excess. Repeat a few times, thenn apply some paste wax and buff. Natural grain will shine through!!
James your work makes you super great. And did your dad make some new music because it is nice to hear? Valparaíso, Indy Anna. P, S. A HOG SANDER works well with sanding.
Is a shame James you never looked at RUclips channel Laggari Products as he does a lot of these tables and resin pours making Thousand dollar plus tables it would of given you a lot more ideas on doing your table
Looks to me like you got the angel on the edge of the table dead on... 👍👍Looks great...............>>>
that is a lovely looking tables, love the idea of the edges, unique, loving the dark channel down the middle, lovely

Gosh James that is so beautiful. Take care.
good job mate loks great and there wont be another one looks unique
I remain in awe of your talent in doing all of this and how you know what tools you need to do these things. Wow. Leigh
I have a belt sander fixed , that way you sand the wood , you will see and feel the angle and round over as you go
Looking great, I can't wait to see the finished product.
Done a bloody good job James 😊
For smoothing out the corners, a belt sander would be better than a grinder. So far it looks great!!!!
Or even the palm sander with a lower grit to rough it out.
By Jove you done a grand job jimmy
Looking good.
great work thanks lee
VERY NICE!
I'd use one of those scrap pieces for the bathroom sink!

Lol for the shoutout to blacktail studio (although I've always watched your channel more faithfully, that's another of my subscriptions)
I would advise the use of a belt sander. I find mine pretty useful for corners. Have a go if you can locate one. Cheers Dick

Then you don’t see the live edge. The idea is to show off the curve from a live edge
Put a sanding disk on the grinder. Looking good either wayy
You know what they say about opinions 😂… but not everyone has a narrowboat and a walnut table so you do you - looks brilliant

Did I miss the special breaking news report?
No services for you, Rob and everyone else for a couple of months. Just when we're needed the most.

Why didn’t you just sand that sharp corner from the underside so it wasn’t so sharp? It hurt to watch you cut that beautiful piece of wood!
Turn it upside down and route it from the bottom.
You over think everything, just go with it.😊
Please remove the battery when changing the router around, or the channel could be called The Narrowboat that stumpy built.

Sorry James but why didn't you make the table to match the worktops..????
