  • I made Carolina Reaper Beer Can Chicken! It was wonderful! I highly recommend this product from Mountain Grillers. Four stars easy! Only downside was the spikes for vegetables. Wouldn’t stay on.

The rub I used was Loot and Booty BBQ Gold Star Chicken Rub! Wonderful flavor!

Interesting gizmo. I like to brine my chicken over night. Really adds flavor and juciness to the bird. Your bird looked real tasty.

One of the best ones I’ve had. Like I mentioned, the spikes were useless, but the rest of the set up worked great.

Looks like a great dish. How did you like the stick thermometer?

Hey Bo, I'm thinking of getting this grill, but I watched videos where the Traeger Pro 22 pot that holds the pellets sometimes lights on fire. Any issues with auger malfunctions?

Be sure to keep the door open until you see a good amount of smoke coming out at start up. Then close the door to bring it up to you temp. Be sure to have it set on SMOKE MODE at start up, when the smoke starts to come then close the door and set your temperature. Then only time where I have had it throw a low temp error code is when I was trying to rush things. Take your time and follow the start up process. And most importantly, ALWAYS clean the fire pot out after each cook and check before a new one. When the ash builds up to high in the pot it can cause the fire to go up the auger line into the pellet compartment. Happy smoking and thanks for the questions.

@@BosBackyardBBQ thanks for the detailed answer. I think I used the wrong word in my previous question. Maybe it’s called the hopper? The thing that you dump the unburned pellets into - that’s the thing that starts on fire for some people.

@@RunAgainRover no worries. Yes, the hopper can do that if you don’t clean the fire pot out after each cook. The ash will build up and the pellets will be so high in the pot that it will cause the pellets in the auger to catch fire. Then it will burn down into the hopper. Always be sure to check your fire pot before and after each cook. 👍
