This improved version of my old Coro Speed boat shows how to fold a 6mm thick 4x8 foot fluted plastic sheet into a hull, how to attach the wood transom using a 1" x 12" pine board using carriage bolts, nylon lock nuts, fabricated aluminum stiffeners and 100% silicone as the sealer.

Nice to finally see you again. Years ago you inspired the 12 year old me to build my very first own plywood electric boat. Great to see something new!

How2Build the Coro Speed Boat! I love it! Thanks for putting these videos out. Like your VW too. I had a '68 many years ago. My brother had a '71 and my dad had a "european" '67. Great little cars. I want to get another one and convert it to electric power. I hear its quite the popular thing to do these days. =)
My first bug was a 62. Every now and then I buy a bug. Not sure why...
@@paulwelkinsdiy Its a love'em or hate'em thing. That's what I think, anyway. If you ever end up with a 1300 and need barrels and pistons, let me know. I've still got a set sitting around here (might work for 1200 too , but research it first. Not sure about that, just thinkin'....it might).

Great little boat, as are all of your designs. I just love the point where you need to fabricate a metal piece and just open the drawer to reveal a huge stash.

24 pounds without motor. I'm waiting for the weather to clear before trying out a 1/4 plywood insert that should stiffen the hull and hopefully get more speed. It weighs about 8 pounds.
Paul Elkins I am an older with advanced arthritis person that really wants to make this as a kayak (or canoe). Would this work for that purpose too? (Without the motor? )

Interesting material to use for a boat. Should be very light.
Another masterful project build! Where did you find 6 mm coroplast? My Home Depot only stocks 4 mm.

Like you PAUL but transoms going to leak I origami the the back may make boat 12 shorter but I have high sides and it's more twitch and responsive in tight areas I took a motor out of a rc 4 by4 attached a propeller to it seald it in a old electric casing now I use a dealt battery to power it total weight of boat and motor 17 pounds
