My country has heavy restrictions on the amounts of ammunition you can keep. We get seasonal hunting licenses that allow us more than usual because we work closely with game reserves who need hunters to help cull out the herds. (It keeps them from starving in mass during dry seasons). We don't keep the meat, and we get paid to do it for them. So it's a win win, we can legally keep a little more ammo than usual, keep our practice up and we're doing our part to preserve our wildlife numbers.
If you read the box, it's just like medicine it's not rocket science. Store in a COOL, DRY place. I prefer my basement thats close to the dehumidifier. Same with my firearms. Stays ideal humidity and temperature year round. Unless your in desert you really are lucky!
Buying ammo you don’t have a weapon for is 100 percent a good idea, especially for a collapse. Ammo is a bartering currency. Stock up on everything you can. You may not need 38 special or 12 gauge, but the old guy down the street may need some and is willing to trade you a weeks worth of food for it. Bad advice to tell people never to buy what you don’t need
I like the vacuum seal idea. Since my ammo never stuck around too long, the top shelf of my closet was always home. Looks like I should change plans!
