- When I was growing up in the 1970s, harpsichord music was frequently employed as a cliché to evoke a sense of antiquity. Now, upon slowing down this same music, I've gained a new perspective. Stripped of its former context, it reveals itself as simply music, free of any forced associations. I'm using metronome markings from Willy Rehberg's late 18th-century editions, which lend a degree of authenticity I find more reliable than mere conjecture. Indeed, these markings appear to be remarkably accurate.
