I'm in the midst of building my K+L deck. I love your take on the pair with self mill. I might pivot to something similar to yours. Thanks for the video!

I like your approach of this Commander 👍 opened during the pre release and wondered how to build it.

I was toying with building a K&L deck and found your video, thanks so much for your insights! I feel it's a bit tough to achieve the Lab man win without some massive self-mill like Traumatize (or Hermit Druid, if you have the budget)...
Anyway, for card suggestions, I was playtesting Zulaport Duelist (that card was made for this deck!), Groundskeeper (1CMC human that recurs lands) and Hypnotic Grifter (1CMC human that connives) and Eccentric Farmer (mills you and recurs lands) and they seem to do nicely. Also the adventure cards from new Eldraine like the selesnya Kellan and Woodland Acolyte are nice as you can flashback their adventure part from your yard to send them on adventure even if they die or you mill them. Also, you can slap Kogla there to have a removal and bounce all in one, though it's a big mana hungry. But the fun!

Loved the different approach, i've just found your channel, i really liked that you talk about the most used cards and how they might not be actually good.

some suggestions: zulaport duelist, containment priest, I think we need at least a creature recursion spell for the lab man in case we mill it.

I like this build, though what cards would you add for a breaking the budget version?
I mean, there is allot of ways to win with this deck but the two you listed was lab and the blue overrun which is interesting and is strong but no trample. So a regular overrun might be better?
I’m guessing it runs lowest cmc creatures as possible to basically turn each of those low cmc humans into card draw engines with an instant/sorcery effect. Keeping your average cmc low as possible is actually stormy if you ask me, very interesting!

With how it’s built is it even worth putting normal blue staple cards like rhystic study? Being that there is no real synergy with the deck design and it doesn’t help you much being that you already have massive card draw?

Thanks for watching! I'm glad you liked it.
      - For price-indifferent upgrades, Worldly Tutor and Mystical Tutor come to mind, though not so much strict upgrades as "side-grades:" approximately as good, just along a different axis, and the price might not justify the benefits. Of course if you already have them then go for it.
In general though, I don't make too much of a conscious effort to minimize price. There are too many people out there making those kinds of videos as is, and I just want to play the cards that I think work best with the commander.
Sometimes that happens to be very affordable (ex. Fynn the Fangbearer is like a $10 deck for full optimization), and when it is, I'll add it to the "Budget builds" playlist for the channel.
      - Not saying "no way" to other overrun effects (por que no los dos?), but Candlekeep Inspo has two upsides that I like over other traditional effects: first is how much power it actually gives you. No overrun effect I know of makes the board into 10/10s or 20/20s this effortlessly without depending on other factors like lifegain or our number of creatures- we get this value essentially for free since it depends on things we were doing already on our way to a self mill victory, acting as a very smooth plan B, and that's probably how it should be viewed: plan B. The second is that CI starts building up from the very start of the game. Every spell you cast, mill, or flash back helps charge it up and there's no real way to stop that. Even if you get board wiped and you end up late game playing this with only two creatures on your board, you're still making these creatures crazy big, whereas a traditional overrun effect would struggle in that setup, and if the board really is that empty, you may not need the evasion. The big downside is that it doesn't grant evasion, but Champion of Lambholt is more than enough to make that a nonissue and actually synergize with everything else we're doing, and the number of humans we have is enough to go around blockers in most other situations (and flashing it back if you didn't finish the job the first time to watch opponents despair makes me chuckle).
      - I probably would say a hard "no" to Rhystic Study though. It's always great- nay, amazing- but in this deck the benefits are marginal as you've noted, and that's reason enough to pass on it, but moreover, playing it tends to put a target on your back, especially at most casual tables. There's something to be said for rolling up to your pod with some weird half-tribal humans deck and flying under the radar because all your card advantage is disguised as your graveyard. Gale makes an excellent commander for similar reasons, though I think people are starting to catch on to that one. There's no reason you couldn't make a cedh build of this, though it'd be *very* different, and frankly have little to nothing to do with our commander.

Thanks, without this video I would've built a terrible deck. I play digital only atm so I hope there's some fun/good arena-only cards I can use to replace stuff.

I would love to take a look! It'll probably be a minute though- I give priority to Patrons, and then newer commanders after that, but I used to have an Archelos deck myself that I'd love to rebuild!

      - Containment Priest (worst)
