Rhodes Island's name is probably a reference to the actual island of Rhodes, where the Crusader/Knightly order of the Knights Hospitaller was based for quite a while, they were originally people who provided medical care for pilgrims on the way to Jerusalem before becoming an armed force.
Welcome new Doctor! Even if you are still in tutorials, you are already showing a lot of good understanding, 44:10 placing your healer with future deployment in mind and 33:25 trying to understand enemy pathing/blocking (even though the slugs didn't have enough hp for your tests to yield much) are things the game heavily rewards. Lots of comments for a long video: -Your first pull is random, mine was Deepcolor who you got second instead -Amiya's infection is very prominent on her hand, so when she reached out to help the civilian spotted it. The game will exposit more about Oripathy soon enough. -Everyone is animals or mythical creatures. This mostly serves as a parallel for real world cultures: Ursus=Russia=Bears, Kazimierz=Poland=Horses, Siracusa=Italy=Wolfs, just to name a few. USA (Columbia) is a mixing pot but mostly birds, while China (Yan) and Japan (Higashi) are represented by a variety of local creatures. Shirayuki is a Japanese stoat, but you'll also come across Oni, Koi fish, and so on. Lots of character history and group culture is shown visually with this system. -You can download the JP voice pack but still have the default be English, this should give everyone a voice and you can individually change languages for each operator from the options they have. -Trust Increase means the "friendship" of the people you used on your team has gone up. For now it's nothing to worry about, the people you use most will get slight stat buffs from it, and it unlocks some lore about them. The base is a great way to raise Trust, along with including them in your material farming missions. For this reason, clearing maps in as few people as possible so that the rest of the team can be there only for Trust gain is a common extra puzzle on top of just clearing a farming mission. -Suzu is a good pull but you actually shouldn't worry about any 6*s for a while. The cost of both upgrading and deployment both go up with rarity, making 3/4*s the best ratio of high power for low investment for a long time until you can actually afford letting 6*s shine. 5*s are very hit-or-miss, for raw power it's better to skip straight from 4* to 6* so a 5* desperately needs a unique passive or skill like Amiya, Texas, or Lappland to be worth it. Of your 10 pull, Gravel is actually the standout winner for being a new tactical option, with Meteor and Deepcolor being great for now too. -Orange bar means the skill is being used, green means it's charging. The color of the skill icon is an indicator of the basic nature of the skill: blue heals, red damages, yellow tanks. -Paradox Simulation is a little puzzle mission that highlights that specific character once you've leveled them enough. The sort will put incomplete puzzles first, once you are actually far enough along to have unlocked some. The "12" sort means something new for them, either due to an update or due to your pulls. -The yellow currency you have 2 of is rewarded the first time you clear each stage without losing any life and has 3 uses: refill all your stamina, purchase skins, or convert into the red currency for pulls. Early on the stamina refills are a great way to blitz through the story and keep unlocking systems and leveling up for even more stamina refills. Converting for pulls can be a backup for getting someone you want before a banner rotates, but pulling smarter to save for skins is the goal. F2P income and rates are generous, and when every team has 12 people, missing out on 1 you want isn't as bad as in most gachas.
I'm coming at Limbus from the opposite direction. Been playing AK for six months and still loving it. Limbus has a lot of parallels to AK that I'm enjoying so far. Having a gacha system where most anything you get can be workable as long as you can assemble an intelligent squad that synergizes. Bringing a dozen characters instead of just three or four. And I can see a glimmer of how the strategy works even if I don't have a lot of tools yet to take advantage of the different systems. AK has the promotion system which is very similar to Uptying. Units start out with limited access to their skills and talents that are unlocked as you promote them. Some units work fine without promotion, while some really don't shine until they have their full kit available. The first pull is actually random, but I think you're guaranteed to get a 4* or higher. I've seen people get a 6* even on that first pull. The 3* operators are still very good and quite usable. Their main restriction is that they only can be promoted once instead of twice like the 4* and above operators can, which means they eventually fall off. However they're extremely cheap to level up. It's kinda like how even the 0 identities at T3 are still better than 000 identities at T1, even though the 000s will eventually be much better once built. The roguelike mode you unlock later (basically mirror dungeons) have a system that will make you need to use some 3* units, which means even if they're no longer getting used on your main squads doing story content they'll still be getting used frequently, so it is worth leveling them as you'll need them for that. The 4* and 5* operators are like the 00 identities. Still usable, and some of them even can excel at certain things and have uses even in very difficult content. And the benefit is that they are much cheaper to level and promote than 6*s. There is a content creator (Silvergun) who beats nearly everything in the game with nothing but 4* operators. In general I'd say that the difference is that 4* operators tend to do one thing very well, 5* operators tend to be able to do one thing well and other things decently, and 6* operators often can do multiple things well. But in some cases the 4* might do the thing it does well better than any of the 5* and 6*s (Myrtle being a prime example), and still be worth using over the rarer alternatives. The first four chapters in AK are the weakest in the game in both gameplay and story. For gameplay the stages are set up without many mechanics and your squad has a fraction of the abilities they will eventually get, leaving your options fairly barebones. I'm running into the same thing in Limbus where I don't have the thread to T2 any new characters which means I don't have S3s, and I don't have any extra EGOs to customize identities with, but I can see how things will eventually work. For story the first four chapters were the launch content. I'm not sure if they got new writers later or if they just had more time to work with, but it improves dramatically. The way damage works is a bit more complicated than it first appears. Physical damage is reduced by DEF as a flat value. So an operator with 500 ATK against a 400 DEF enemy does 100 damage, with a minimum of 5% damage if the DEF equals or is higher than ATK. But if instead of 500 ATK it was 700 ATK they'd jump up to 300 damage a hit - a relatively small increase in ATK (just 40%) can triple the damage dealt in a situation like this. Arts damage ignores DEF and is instead negated by RES as a percentage. So an enemy with 25 RES simply takes 25% less damage from Arts. Those shield guys have a very high DEF, which can be overcome by Physical damage if the ATK is high enough, or simply bypassed by Arts damage since it isn't affected by DEF at all. Some skills can double or triple the ATK of a unit when activated, which can make a physical unit still able to melt even a high DEF enemy. Low level units without all their skills generally won't be able to do this, but it does become possible later, especially with using units that can buff other units. Most people on Terra have some kind of animal characteristics, and the rest may have fantastical characteristics (angelic, demonic, etc.). There are lore reasons for this. There are some humans on Terra, but it's the Rainbow Six team that got isekai'd to Terra as part of the R6:Siege collab. There are well over 300 operators in Arknights at this point, divided into the 8 main classes and then further into one of 65 different subclasses. It's not super important to know what they all do, but it does mean that, for example, under the umbrella of "Sniper" there can be a dozen different kinds of snipers that can work quite differently from each other. There are a lot of different squad compositions and ways to solve nearly anything.
Also, you'll use three star operators a lot, so I do recommend building them, they're not expensive to fully build and they'll serve you forever! This game is praised for the ability of you being able to clear almost any stage with almost any operator using various tactics, self-imposed limitations or such!
Nice to see a new doctor joining. I'll try answer some of your questions. 35:04 They identify infected by the "black rocks" (originium) growing on their skins. 35:21 Everyone in the world are "animal people". 50:57 It filters by [New update available], either: -Recently obtained new character (Operator) -Duplicate upgrade -New voice update -Character story / Paradox Simulation unlockable -New equipment (Module) available

The color icons denotes operator's skill usage: Red means offensive Yellow means defensive Blue means healing Black means passive This is done so you can look at an operator's portrait and immediately know what skill they're currently being equipped with (as some operator has several types of skills at their disposal, meaning they can be set to offense or defense or healer as you need)

Either way, I hope you enjoy the game, it and Limbus are my 2 primary games that I love.
arknights is the ultimate snowball game, once you get that ball rolling its pretty hard to stop but the amount of time to get that ball rolling is a lot
Eh id say its because they are pretty much do a lot of world building , so at the start you arent invested in cause you dont get a dopamine rush until later unlike limbus who hits you with "what the hell is this" in the first 5 minutes
@@bloodyfisht6877tbf limbus is an expansion in an already established world from 2 other games, and the major story beats are related to the stories the characters are inspired by, like Moby dick, or the odyssey.
Definitely download other voice pack too like, some Operators also have their native language as an option (Texas for example is from the country Siracusa, an analog to Italy, so she have an Italian voice as an option). Half the fun in the game is mixing the voice pack, you could listen to English, then Japanese, then German and then Russian all in one squad during gameplay. Its very fun, I definitely recommend it. Some Limbus VA also voiced a few character here so might as well download the KR pack too.
You got the same first operator as I did! Shirayuki is actually my favorite character (but sadly has basically no story relevance despite her position).
In the depot you have two vouchers for free 5* units. One gives you a choice of four, the other has a much larger selection. Don't take Texas or Cliffheart since you get them for free anyway (Texas from pinboard missions, Cliffheart from beginner login). Some operators are more useful than others, but they are all usable so don't be afraid to just pick the ones you like
NGL the beginning chapters are bad in lore terms no sugarcoating that but that's why we have the anime, the story gets much much better the more you play and I suggest that you don't really push yourself to read the early chapters if you don't like it or find it boring, watching the anime is a very legit option here and it's actually pretty good. As you're a Limbus player I should tell you that Arknights focuses much more on world building than character development unlike Limbus and because it's such a big world with so many factions and countries it'll take a long long time to understand the whole picture of the story so don't worry everything will make sense with time. Oh and there are lots of side stories too and most of them are amazing both in gameplay and story and completing them will give you free new characters.
Limbus can afford to kinda ''skimp out'' on worldbuilding because it already has multiple prior games, and will likely have more games after itself that all expand the world and story. Not to mention that the franchise as a whole is hyperfixated on a story that nearly solely revolves around characters developing and growing.
Don't worry we will get use to it, I also will try arknights but man the ui kinda scary.limbus company have linear simple ui but horrendous tutorials so I will try get use to it. Any tips?
@@aimanF987 build the 3 star units you get and look up guides/info about the 6 stars you get and build them if you think it would be good to upgrade them or not
@@aimanF987 I honestly just wrote an essay explaining the arknights UI down to every little detail but decided that just watching a beginner arknights guide on RUclips would be so much faster and people learn better with a visual reference. So just watch one of those but watch another video about the base system too, the base is a complicated thing for many new players so it deserves a full video dedicated to it. Or you can just play the game for about a week or two and figure things out on your own. I have a favorite tip tho that I like giving to new players, don't spend the orignium (the yellow currency) on pulls if you care about skins, Arknights has awesome skins that are totally worth the price but if you don't care about skins just go ahead and buy gacha currency with them
To answer a few of your questions, there are no people in this world without animal features (except maybe the Doctor, we don't know), the way to determine if someone is infected is to see if they have some kind of crystallization on their skin somewhere. As for if Oripathy is infectious? It can be, but you'll find out more about it. Terra (the world that Arknights is set in) is made up of many different countries, all of which are either based on or influenced by existing countries and cultures. For instance, the country you're currently in, Ursus, is based on Russia. As you correctly surmised, the majority of the Ursus population is of the Ursus (Bear) race (yes, Ursus is both the name of the country and a race of people). Welcome to Arknights, Doctor Kylotl, hope you enjoy your stay!
There are races without animal features, mainly being sankta and aegir (the hardest, if not impossible, one to notice without seeing and knowing the specific details). There's also Sarkaz, but some of their horns may resemble animal horns so I don't know if I should say it or not
@@etprinceps9526 The only exception to the aegir are Glaucus, Kirara, and Andreanna as they have "tail", but the rest of them don't. At most it'll be small feature like 2 sets of whiskers or object that shows/gives a clue about what kind of animal they're based on.

Welcome to Rhodes Island where we drink boiling water at 4am and commit warcrimes, the worldbuilding and story of the game are really big, if you do get interested in that, the first few chapters don't give you an idea of how deep the rabbit hole (pun intended) that is this game's narrative go, you will figure out everything in due time, early game is a little bit of a slog since you are still building the foundation of your account, just take your time and have fun and you might be adding another game to your list

I have a favorite tip tho that I like giving to new players, don't spend the orignium (the yellow currency) on pulls if you care about skins, Arknights has awesome skins that are totally worth the price but if you don't care about skins just go ahead and buy gacha currency with them
AAAUUUO MMOG NEW DOCTRRRRRRRRR
There's also Sarkaz, but some of their horns may resemble animal horns so I don't know if I should say it or not
@dindapriska Ah, you're right, I could've phrased it better
@@etprinceps9526 The only exception to the aegir are Glaucus, Kirara, and Andreanna as they have "tail", but the rest of them don't. At most it'll be small feature like 2 sets of whiskers or object that shows/gives a clue about what kind of animal they're based on.
You'll love this game but the beginning part is rather... Ehh
ofc PM player reads the story LMAOOOO
You don't need read all story just watch the anime and season 3 coming soon, cos take long to read all chapter.
Arknights at this point may as well be a PC or Laptop game as the memory requirements is huge 😕
Dude, 2024, for example, azure lane weighs 20+ GB, mobile versions of zzz, genshin, wuva, xsr and other gachas that weigh 30+ GB, your comment is a joke... Don't live in the past
@@NoTraska all those gacha might as well be PC or Laptop as well or you could just look up cloud gaming.
Want a friend in arknights you can send me
did someone say to him to just look anime if he don't wanna play more than 1-2 gatcha games sorry for othere people
If you get myrtle build her
bluestack is shit, LDPlayer is better
Btw...Skip the story and just watch a summary. AK from chapter 1 to 3 writing is a mess.
