Sadly……I can remember those times, when everyone made an effort to look not just presentable but well cut and demonstrated respect to their hosts and guests alike.
I remember how much it meant to a man to take his wife out in a mink or other expensive fur and for the wife just as much. He says to her "you are worth it" and she wears it knowing people think her husband is a real 'catch'. Simple sexual politics back then.
