    very true so much of other cultures have been taken by tongan culture. The mako and the kailao came from wallis and futuna as did the singing style Tongans use. When Tonga was a powerhouse of the pacific it inhabited many islands and took rule over them...in doing so they took pieces of every culture and adopted it as their own. Even the Maululu and Tauolunga originated from Samoa. However, as polynesians we share similar languages Tongan Samoan Niuean Tokelauen all have similar ties in language

    We have a very smart God. He scattered Polynesians on many different islands across the Pacific and gave them several languages because He knew that if we were given our own -one- continent with one language, we would have colonized and ruled the world. Polynesian pride 4 ever.

    Yes it did... It is true that Tonga use to have an influence on Uvea but I learnt that Samoa had an influence on Futuna as well. You can hear it in the languages, some words are the same ...
    (too complicated to explain this in english, i need a translator first ! xD)

    I live in Australia among Samoans and I spend time with em' at school or even at their house. Most of our dialect is only similar to Samoan, there's no way ours is similar to Tongans, as I mentioned in my other comment, Tongans did stay in our island but couldn't imposed their language to us, we had our own and they noticed that it was similar to Samoan by the fact that our first king's parents were Sāmoan reflects perfectly how closer we are to Samoans ;)

    Easy brother, there is no need to use that type of language. To be honest, you don't know anything about our history, there are many Tongans that their ancestors from Uvea and they are proud of it. About the Music and dances, they are belong to you and the beautiful island or Wallis and Futuna. The truth is that our ancestor brought many of your people to Tonga to perform to the King of Tonga. Since that period Tongan people learned your style of dances and chants.

    yes by singing style im referring to the elongated ends of each line in the songs Singing almost middle eastern like to fill in the spaces of a song. all polynesians harmonize not just tongans...and I doubt you were in the islands centuries ago...unless you are an anthropologist and were in the islands centuries ago, then do not come all politically correct

    Sorry for that but it pisses me off when people just write silly things on RUclips about my islands and also my cultures! I know there some Tongans who did stay in Futuna, I'm half Tongan, family MATAELE, I'm not against the fact that I've got Tongan blood in my veins but it just pisses me off when people just talk shit about my culture!

  • @imkinshd2259
    @imkinshd2259 11 лет назад +2

    Futuna is not even Tongan bro :) Even Uvea, it's just our culture that has been mixed up with theirs, just a bit of their dialects but we had already our own language kazz ;)

      Imkins HD no your right bro.. as a Tongan I grew up knowing we have close ties with uvea.. but futuna more close wit Samoa

  • @BASHMENT916

    They adopted their style of singing? Not at all! Tongans have, had that style of singing long before Uveans existed. Tongans are very well known for the way they sing. The Tongan men have harmonized in large groups for centuries. I should know cus I was there. lol. But seriously,

  • @gewing26

  • @gewing26

    "Before samoa"? Samoa has never had any influence on Uvea mo Futuna....the Tui Tonga imposed their language and culture on Uvea mo Futuna but the Uveans should never be refered to as Tongan... Kanava is a plant that only grew in Uvea until they took it to tonga..So this chant being of tongan origin is hard to believe

  • @imkinshd2259
    @imkinshd2259 11 лет назад +1

    Nah yous didn't impose your language to Futuna -_- DA FUCK ! Yous only imposed your language or not even YOUR CULTURE HAS BEEN MIXED WITH THE UVEAN -_- ! FUTUNA HAD THEIR LANGUAGE BEFORE A SAMOAN COUPLE CAME IN OUR ISLAND IN A COCONUT AND THEN THAT'S WHEN SOME SIMILAR DIALECT OF THE SAMOANS HAS BEEN MIXED UP AS WELL WITH OURS ! Believe me
