how to make homemade chicken feed for layers - The best diy chicken feed - backyard chickens
Join me today as I share with you how to make your own, DIY chicken feed!
I also show you how to make fodder easily.
At a time when we hear of the many issues with commercial feed, I think it’s safer (and cheaper!) to make your own feed.
This nutritious recipe can be used to replace your usual store bought feed.
This recipe has all the ingredients and nutritional values your hens will need to increase egg production and keep them healthy.
I got the original recipe from this book:

I just made my own version of the recipe, which is the one I’m sharing here today.
To make, you will need:
1 cup of grains (spelt, buckwheat, barley, etc.);
1 cup of cracked corn;
1 cup of peas (whole or split);
1/4 cup of black sunflower seeds;
1/4 cup of quinoa;
1/4 cup rolled oats;
1/4 cup of flaxseeds;
A scoop of wheat germ (optional);
A scoop of diatomaceous earth.
Note: all ingredients are raw and uncooked.
