We made another long Dark Souls video essay! Better than that, we made one with a unique thesis! We here at Arcane are looking to quickly get our tentacles into the growing video essay business, and if you think we have a talent in the industry you can support us by giving a like, sharing the video, leaving a comment, and subscribing. We also have a bunch of social media links for you guys to follow, linked in the description. Most important right now would be: Our Ko-Fi: ko-fi.com/arcaneincorporated Main channel X/Twitter page: x.com/ArcaneIncorp And our creative head's personal X/Twitter: x.com/A_Airseemawhich (his fiction is freaky but he doesn't bite, promise.) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Really hoping all of you enjoyed the video. If not, feel free to give suggestions for improvement. Hope to hear from more of you in the future, happy holidays, and don't you dare go hollow! --Andrew
This video essay was amazing. It is clear how much effort, time, and love you and everyone you work with (which I am assuming you do by the way you speak). I think you offered a very interesting perspective and I really appreciated your ties to literature and film. At first I wasn’t entirely sure where you were going with it but as the video went on I understood why you tied those aspects in. I agree video games can be outstanding pieces of art and storytelling and this video is an amazing argument for that stance. Keep it up, this video rocked!
Amazing video! Hope algorithms will support this gem. One question. Aren't removed statues in anor londo the ones of nameless king? If gwyn neglected gwyndolin he wouldn't build statues of him in the first place.
Thank you! We're hoping for the best while keeping our expectations in check but are just happy to hear people are enjoying the content! And I'd say, yeah it's a matter of debate. When ds1 was released, there were the occasional references to who would become the nameless king (who everyone initially theorized was Solaire...), but if I remember correctly it was a debate if the missing statue was of Gwyndolin or The Nameless King. Obviously I've taken the interpretation of the former, but am willing to admit the error if a forgotten item description in DS1 proves me wrong. If wrong, I may make a google doc of errors and post it in the description....
