@@dionwoollaston5717 I think in the game’s reality, the praetorians have grown fat and decadent under Nero’s rule, and considering the savagery they display, it’s possible that the guard is filled more with thugs loyal to the emperor rather than soldiers tempered by war. After all, the regular legionaries don’t seem to hold the guard with much respect outside the bare minimum, and if the guard was made up of war hero’s, then they wouldn’t have gone around bullying civilians for a bit of fun.
Shaurya Joshi pretty dumb, can you imagine if the adeptus astartes or custodes from warhammer 40k did the same thing? The imperium might not have lasted as long as it did

I like how they booed when Damocles killed Commodus, went silent when he started to speak, and spoke in horror and shock when they heard Damocles say the Emperor will be next to die. imagine how many thought Nero and his sons enraged the Gods
What I always wondered about the coliseum is how the announcer managed to shout loud enough for the people in the upper stands to hear him, logically the bowl shape of the stadium should reverberate the sound around it or the people who do hear it repeat what he says to the punters behind him. As far fetched as it would be could any experts in ancient roman architecture please correct/inform me as to the how and why?
The Greeks used limestone seats for this. Not sure if this applies to Romans as well though. From a LiveScience article: “Now, researchers at the Georgia Institute of Technology have discovered that the limestone material of the seats provide a filtering effect, suppressing low frequencies of voices, thus minimizing background crowd noise. Further, the rows of limestone seats reflect high-frequencies back towards the audience, enhancing the effect.”
Also the Colosseum was made in the shape of two elongated odeons, so the sound would have travelled easily. If you've ever visited ancient Greek ruins and found the remains of any odeon, you'll find that when standing on the stage at it's center, you barely have to speak and anyone at the very top back row can hear you loud and clear.
The Colosseum is too big for anyone to be heard without modern amplification. I'm sure the speaker spoke mostly for the patricians in the first rows next to him, and for the other spectators, there were some visual and audio signals (like banners and trumpets) that would anticipate fights and give a pace to the events. More or less as it used to happen in wars (the whole general giving a speech to an entire army is an invention of the modern age).
Indeed wish they made prequel story such as play as Leontius a Marius father since he was veteran general and even commander Vitallion of 14th legion knows and served him as centurion love to see him time as centurion as well
I just bought and finish playing this game few weeks ago. Would like to know, using controller is more suitable or the keyboard since the key mapping can change with sets only.
Yeah you’ll have to put historical accuracy aside lol - basically all the high/low points of Rome are connected in one short story. They even throw the Boudicca Revolt in at the end for good measure. And this time Paulinus must not exist because she winds up in Rome lol
Can someone explain me the Story behind this game? Why is Nero so old? Why is Commodus his son, when in real life Mark Aurel was the father of Commodus?
The way I see it, is that the story of Ryse: Son of Rome is that of a Roman myth. And the details of a myth tend to become altered over the course of history.
From what I remember, the devs made an alternate reality composed of many different areas of roman and even greek knowledge, mainly so that just about anyone can understand the history. I mean, the Empire went on to rule for thousands of years in the epilogue, so it's safe to say it checks out.
I actually got used to it, it really was cos i was tired that day lol but i only have one other vid to make and the fact these vids are doing pretty well, so i'd be a shit youtuber if i stopped making content people like lol
There is no way that Marius is 5’7, Marius must at least be 5’10 and up with his height compared to that goddess’s. Also Marius’s father was a Senator meaning they’re wealthy, so he definitely had access to a better & healthy filled diet.
I have a historic question, did the Colosseum change. Did it have different floors like we see in this game or was it always a flat surface like in the movie gladiator? I have always wanted to know if any historians know the answer, I always wanted to know
@@gravey_official yeaah it's funny cos when u see pictures of in real life it's mix n match. I know it's ruins now, but it legit looks like a shiii load was going on down there.

Combat and the way the maneuvering is and camera reaction to your movements in combat are really great. It makes it less dull and boring. Plus really makes it feel like some real shit.

Let's be honest here, not a single Praetorian could be a match against a battle seasoned Centurion like Marius.
Weren't the praetorian guard made up of elite centurions with decades worth of combat experience?
