I lived here in the late 00s was fun but always got in to fights crime was bad but loved the old 40s 50s buildings loved exploring them town still has some originalatity to it
Grew up in Old Harlow in the early 70s. Couldn't have asked for better. Parks. Sports Centre. Swimming Pool. Cycle Tracks. Odeon. Library. This was before the M11 was built.
These photos bring back wonderful memories. I lived here in the sixties. It was a great place to grow up. We had the farm and fields at our back fence, a brand new school and endless places to play in safety. It was full of hope and optimism. My family migrated to Australia in 1969.It’s sad to hear how it has deteriorated.
I was born in Harlow in '53. What depressing architecture / town planning. I can only imagine what it's like now. Migrated to sunny Australia in 1960. The best decision my parents ever made.
Ah, Harlow in it's heyday! Harlow was a briliant place to grow up in the 60s and 70s, Sadly a lot of it has been demolished and replaced. Glad you ended up with the Odeon, loved that old place, I spent many happy hours in there on Saturday Mornings as a kid. Thanks for uploading Frankie, Great choice of music too!! :0)
Gotta say seeing the old photos of Harlow really does show how far down hill it's gone in terms of design, especially with the town centre. The town fully died when the town centre market finally stopped
Was a great place to grow up in 70/80’s. First ever proper job was working in Army and Navy Stores under the block in 89.

Grew up in Harlow in the the 80s and early start of the 90s. Moved away, now I'm back after 16 years. A lot has changed

🇬🇧 🏥🧸💕🛌💤💤💤👨⚕️🏥 🚑 💁♂️ The Good old 😢 day's ? 😢 at least my parent's & grandparent's were live 😥
The council has let the whole town turn into the armpit of essex sadly
yes changed so much but not always for the better
thank you for your kind words
Harlow starting going downhill in the 90s, got even worse in the 00's and as for now, no further comment required
Tragic.
It was over developed in the mid 70s. The Jocelyns were a step too far, and it became overpopulated.
Alot has changed. Needs a Regeneration, Needs a makeover now...
he must have had a bad experience
Oh, what went wrong? Once a nice place to live. A shlthole now.
