98% of the time I just buy the blu-ray in a form with the most special features on the disc. I rarely buy an edition with any fancy stuff in it. I just picked up Umbrella's release of Oldboy on blu-ray as JB Hi-Fi (which I preordered) got the orders early. Mine is number 7 of 1500 slip covers.
As a local collector of umbrella, the day bill posters are a major draw to ordering online direct. The website is dearer than jb hifi but the bonus and not having to put up with the occasional delays of my local jb hifi's delivery is definitely worth the extra. 15% off helps and free postage available if eligible a plus.
Loved the limey and while a 4k scan would be nice the cost of obtaining and importing is too much for this wallet. Nice to extra bonus features on local release, often with other local releases it is reversed (not though for umbrella (usually).
Umbrella have also released titles which I've imported from vinegar syndrome (4k's). While I can play region A blu rays, I've picked up the umbrella releases so I can visit friends and watch them there. Also in case of cloak and dagger the collector pack from umbrella was too cool to pass.
Just hopeful the box of burt is released as standard package like the warriors box set as I was too slow on that preorder.

Great stuff as always, Heath. One potentially controversial take re: pre-orders and buying new releases early: it's getting increasingly frustrating when titles go on sale significantly cheaper than Day 1 pricing so soon - sometimes just a few weeks - after release. It makes one inclined to wait a few weeks. Sony Classics' 4K box set is a great example - seen the price on that today? Similarly, it's upsetting to see recent-ish 4K releases already getting replaced with SUPERIOR 4K editions - Starship Troopers, Mask of Zorro, and Air Force One being recent examples, now offering Dolby Vision HDR and arguably better artwork (all, again, the work of Sony). Double dipping is nothing new for physical media collectors, but these 4K updates feel too soon and lead to early buyer's remorse. With these deluxe 4K editions, do it once, do it right. Please?
I did pick up The Limey, Wrong Turn and Young Guns direct from Umbrella and obtained those lovely slip covers.
I grabbed Ozploitation 20 from JB.
Really looking forward to the upcoming Umbrella Terrifier box set. I need to go and pre-order that. Unfortunately I missed the Box of Burt set, that seemed to sell out quickly. I also have that Day of the Dead set but not this version with the slipcover. I picked it up some time back minus the slip but otherwise seems to be exactly the same edition.
As a collector the pictures and sound is my main priority followed by great knowledge enhancing special features. But of course amazing Arrow style packaging or a nice slipcover is always welcome just to add that extra love and care collectors are looking for. If you can get all of those things in one package then that is the nirvana we all seek for our films.
And it seems Umbrella is evolving and really stepping up it's collectors offerings which is cool to see.
I do keep slipcovers if they feature alternate art from the inside cover, like Umbrella's, or are blinged out with holofoil, embossing, or other eye-popping stuff. But if the slip is just a boring duplicate of the art underneath, as is the case with most mainstream releases, I chunk it. For me, it's kind of a nuisance when accessing my discs. I have also badly creased more than one blu-ray case using slips, especially brick-and-mortar releases that have the square UPC cut-out in the back. The clear film edge can get hung up on the cardboard, and peel back violently as it slides.
Texas chain saw massacre is my favorite horror movie looking forward to the 4k version from dark sky video at the end of February. The limey is awesome.
Chain Saw is my favorite horror movie too. I didn't know a 4K version was coming from Dark Sky. I have it on VHS, DVD, and Blu-ray

I can't say I get the whole slipcover thing. That being said, I am willing to overpay for these deluxe edition box sets with the swag type collectibles, especially with how easy it's become to import and no region lock on 4kdiscs.

I can certainly appreciate nice, attractive packaging, and if I'm buying a film for the first time and the nicer packaging is reasonably priced (IMO), I'll choose it. However, packaging is a distant second for me compared to content. I'd never re-purchase based on packaging. (But, of course, to each their own.)
Also, I'm indifferent to slip covers--I like them well enough, but they never affect my purchasing decisions. Unless they're Arrow-style hard slip covers--I do really like those when available and not too outrageously priced.
I would always order direct but too many companies won't ship properly, so unfortunately, I don't. It is not that hard. You just have to care.
Thank you Heath. I'm very curious if the image quality for Umbrella's Wrong Turn is sharper than the regular previous blu ray...I heard it was soft.
I don't have any other edition of Wrong Turn, so I can't directly compare. However, it's most likely the same transfer, since no mention of a new transfer has been made.

Love your stuff and love The Limey! But it looks like it's only a Blu Ray and not a 4K Blu Ray on the Umbrella website. Did the 4K sell out or is it only available in 4K?

Umbrella's release was always a Blu-ray. The only 4K I'm aware of came from Lionsgate in the USA and was a Best Buy exclusive, which I reviewed in another video. Hope that helps!

For the most part The Texas chainsaw massacre is sold out except for just the Blu-ray you can't get any of that extra stuff that's too bad although there's a lot those extra commentary and stuff on that Blu-ray which I doubt is on other releases. To be honest what I want from companies is the extras commentary old documentaries if they can put them on there stuff like that
The feature-loaded Blu-ray for Texas Chainsaw Massacre is in stock and should not be going anywhere anytime soon.
The limited G'day of the Dead slipcover and daybill poster were a limited time only thing and ended on Halloween, but a new batch of site exclusives is on the horizon!

Heath, do you know if you pre-order multiple blu-ray's from Umbrella with different release dates on one order, do they ship them separately as they are released like Scream Factory does, or are they like Kino and only ship everything together once everything in your order has been released?

Yeah slipcovers for sure. #1 reason: I look back from disc's that r 15 to 20 years old, see the slip on it and know that I likely got the first pressing.
Great stuff. I totally get what you’re saying, but I’m already run ragged in pre-orders for the toys I collect (I keep a dang spreadsheet for my GI Joe Classifieds). I just can’t have orders over 10 different websites. But then, I don’t care about the slipcovers. Eh, I am not a modern man.
I love those slips, but could never justify the double-dips.
