Wainui Hut and Evans Ridge Loop - TRAMP on Takaka Hill

Welcome to S.K.O.A.
In this video, Sam is hiking solo up on top of Takaka Hill in the Abel Tasman National Park.
This loop takes starts at the Canaan Downs car park and heads up to Evans Ridge before descending back down into the Wainui River valley. The track takes in Wainui Hut, a four bunk hut that has a lot of character and charm.
This is a great walk if you are new to tramping and/or want a day walk to give you a great feel for the area and its abundant bird life.

Cheers it’s was a great hut in a nice spot. More than anything though, I caught amazing winter weather for this one. Beats the rain!

I was at Caanan Downs just over a year ago and did pretty much the exact loop only in reverse. Great spot up there. When I was a teenager waay back in the late 90's I attended a dance concert at the Downs new years eve which was hosted there annually in that era. Interesting place now and you'll find the odd person wandering about (usually men) in a "natural state" haha. Great vid....quite short! but look forward to the next one as usual.
