Wheel locks make thieves have to take more time, and that's what they don't usually have. That's why people should use wheel locks. While you're at it don't bother putting a locking doorknob on the front door of your house because a thief will find a way to open the door anyway. 🤣🤣🤣
They can also be broken in really easy, can drill thru the door lock, or they can use specialty tool such as a chainsaw, bad idea, don't waste your money
Main argument is I loose things a lot and that is a problem. Also I cannot properly torque a wheel so I break the key. Wheel locks are intended to slow down crack heads not a pro thief. Pros do not want your rim they want the whole car
Engrave VIN number on the rims, even thief wanted them so bad won't mess with marked wheels because of cost of work to eliminate the engraving will overcome the rim cost. Another trick is to use two lock nuts on each wheel with different socket style from different manufacturers and cover them with caps so thief will not know what exactly under the cups and has to deal with two different nuts at the end of the day. And remember, we are talking about reducing of chances to become a victim of theft, not eliminating them completely. Lock nuts are cheap investment in security.
Moises Beltran nothing non-lethal will stop a determined thief. Unfortunately, unless you live in Texas, it's a crime to defend property with deadly force.
The other thing that needs to be mentioned: you have to keep the wheel lock key in your car in case you get a flat tire while driving out and about. So the thief can look for it in the glove box or where ever you store it and steal your wheels.
Having wheel locks is to "deter" the thieves from getting your wheels comparing to the next car without wheel locks; also, a part of getting a wheel off your car is to jack up the car, you think thieves will jack up your car nicely/appropriately!? Needless to say when they Drop your car to take their Jack away, you are losing more money than just a set of wheels but also all the damages associate with dropped your car on a center block or worst of all flat on the ground!
In most middle class areas if you have 4 locks on each wheel it's a deterrent, most cases they move to anther easier target unless you live in a shit hole area with no one around,. Not sure why u encourage no locks. Your advice sucks to me

Hmm. Theres been a chain of wheel theft in my area and they seem to be going after the Honda wheels (must be easier to sell?). You don't think these new flashy 18's on the sport are catching their eyes? I feel like you have to do at least something, its like locking your doors at night. They need to put some time into getting the lug off so they might be deterred from trying if they knew it wasn't going to be a quick zip-off with an impact gun and drop the car on a cinder block. The thought of it gives me chills.
well if I were in your situation I would definitely consider something like this, but I still wouldn't rest easy, knowing they aren't really that secure even with wheel locks, especially if they are targeting Honda rims (they will likely have a collection of Honda wheel locks). Thieves are awful..
I have those exact locks and I would have to disagree with you on that even though find a way to get them all it's better than having nothing on your car just think about it
I kinda get your points but they seem VERY nitpicky. Anyone with a brain cell won't lose the key to unlock the nut. Just keep the key in the glove box... Yes, someone could drill/break the lock but that requires alot more time than needed and alot more noise making it easier for a person to get caught.
All vehicles should come with a tilt detection as part of the OEM alarm. Even an amateur opportunist thief knows or should know to stay clear and go on to a less risky vehicle.
Thieves need time and convenience. I'll spend the $50-$80 vs spending $2000. Do a side by side compare wheel locks vs none. I'm sure thieves (b/c they usually roll around in a group) will make a lot of racket and make themselves very conspicuous when taking the wheels off, especially if they have cinder blocks with them.
Pretty much. He basically said protecting your car isn't worth a $65 investment. It costs $1000 just to replace my tires alone. I do roadside assistance. I went on a call the other day where the theives loosened all 20 lug nuts, and actually made off with one of the tires before the customer and the police chased them off. If he had wheel locks they might not have gotten away. You don't need to stop them. You just have to slow them down.

What if you are in the middle of nowhere, and you can not find your car jack or lug wrench ? Hey..... you can keep the socket WITH the jack...... What if driving along, and your engine shuts down ? What if you run out of fuel? What if the Supercharger is offline and you only have 20 miles left on battery, and next town with a damn Supercharger is 150 miles away ? You are not being hated on, you just make a weak case for NOT using GOOD wheel locks. Of course, crappy ones are useless.

You have a lot of what if's responsible people will know where that lock is at all times and not lose it Don't leave without knowing you have it simple
Once I get the wheel lock off, can I put a matching out but on it?
Buddy, great recommendation. I was hoping for an alternative.
I have a 21 year old truck and some Yahoo stole my spare tire from underneath. They just cut the hoist cable. With my Jeep, I’d like to make it a little harder for the thief to steal my tires/rims.
Add a 3 lb. hammer and 1/2 inch chisel to your spare tire compartment. For the occasion that the lock tool or lug breaks.
Hmmm..for someone who has had their wheels stolen, this is a fair idea.... obviously this is not me, 20+ years, not one single wheel theft. But I'm sure for someone else, even if it only happened ONE time ,that would be one time too many so having this seemed logical.
While you're at it don't bother putting a locking doorknob on the front door of your house because a thief will find a way to open the door anyway. 🤣🤣🤣
Thats why i dont even use wheels. I just drive on the rotar 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣
I guess you sleep with no door locks in your house Lol.
Right cuz what happens if his house key breaks? Well he has to call a locksmith. So does he recommend door locks on your house? No.
It's about getting in and out, and they will go for the easiest vehicle, most thieves are lazy💯
Lock nuts are cheap investment in security.
good idea!
Locks in general are for deterring honest people, because a thief is not going to be stopped by a stupid little lock.
+Moises Beltran too true my friend, too true
Moises Beltran nothing non-lethal will stop a determined thief. Unfortunately, unless you live in Texas, it's a crime to defend property with deadly force.
locks in general are for honest people
I think you’re right. Good stuff. Is there any way to protect the lugs like a boot without immobilizing the car?
The other thing that needs to be mentioned: you have to keep the wheel lock key in your car in case you get a flat tire while driving out and about. So the thief can look for it in the glove box or where ever you store it and steal your wheels.
+Shark Tooth that is also true, wheel locks just aren't worth it
Just lock your glove box
There's plenty of places to hide a wheel lock that no one else will find it. Get real.
I put mine in my purse and take it with me
Don't loose it problem solved, put it somewhere only you know were it is.
Locks help keep honest people honest...
Honest people don't put the effort to raise a stranger's car to steal wheels.
In most middle class areas if you have 4 locks on each wheel it's a deterrent, most cases they move to anther easier target unless you live in a shit hole area with no one around,. Not sure why u encourage no locks. Your advice sucks to me
You are basically increasing your odds of your tire not being stolen.. as oppose to easily being stolen.. Nothing is guarantee...
I totally agree. Wheel locks are rubbish.
yessir!
Just cost me 50 quid because the previous tyre company I used to replace my tyres ruined my locking nut, got stuck at tescos for ages until a friend came to tow me, absolutely shit.
Thanks for letting people know about the nightmare wheel locks cause.
I find them to be useless and more a problem than they are worth
You apparently haven’t seen Gorilla X2 locks.
Man I just bought some zr1 wheels for my vette and I’m scared there will get stolen
I haven't had any bad luck with wheel locks.
not yet bud, but you might. I take the wheels off a lot (as you can see in the videos lol) and the more you use them, the worse they get. BTW, got your message, I'm traveling today but I'll answer back in a little bit (I can't read messages on my phone for some reason...)
I live in the hood, wheel locks are a must.
Wheel locks and glocks! can't disagree here...
I agree but lets make the thiefs sweat to get the wheels 😳🤣✌️🍺🇺🇸
One of my neighbors just had all four stolen of his 2018 Civic. Factory wheels and this morning the car was on blocks. Who steals wheels in 2019, what's wrong with people!
Ernie Keto Fit wow really ? Now I’m thinking I should get some for mine ! Why can’t people let other people have nice things
Tilt alarm
I just leave the sunroof open.... works for me.
I wish they did, it would go a long way
Thieves need time and convenience.
Hey guys don’t lock your doors to your house to because you might lose your keys
What's your recommendation then..go without them and make it easier for theives..
This guy making it easy for his thief friends hahaha
You don't need to make your wheels impossible to steal, just harder to steal than your neighbor's.
i can remove a Toyota OEM wheel lock in 1 min total time. Adds 4 mins to the total job for four tires
Trouble with Toyota, you cant buy Gorilla or McGuard because they require OEM.
It slows the criminal down...don’t make it easy!
That’s why I keep it in my car
What if you are in the middle of nowhere, and you can not find your car jack or lug wrench ? Hey..... you can keep the socket WITH the jack...... What if driving along, and your engine shuts down ? What if you run out of fuel? What if the Supercharger is offline and you only have 20 miles left on battery, and next town with a damn Supercharger is 150 miles away ? You are not being hated on, you just make a weak case for NOT using GOOD wheel locks. Of course, crappy ones are useless.
I'd rather spend extra money on a tow truck in case of emergency than have sleepless nights worried some tweaker will steal my shit. Not worth it if your running stock wheels tho haha
Yeah, just get the theft insurance.
This was just spoooooid
Worthless information
Bolt???? Not a bolt.
There is a difference btwn nuts & bolts.
Thief stolen my one tyre along with the clamp lock. He was actually a tyre thief.
I only use them so thieves have to work harder to steal my wheels.
the issue with that is that, for the most part, it doesn't really help all that much
It's a cheap deterrent, does exactly what it needs to.
These wheel locks are as worthless as a screen door on a sub-marine
Now days, the the person who want stole your wheel can buy lock nut online.
I'm sure many thiefs want to know your cars location 🎯
guys if you're looking for tire locks here ya go
