- Curacao and Asia-Pacific played in the International Championship Game in the 2022 Little League World Series. The winner would advance to play the winner of Hawaii-Tennessee in the LLWS Championship on Sunday at 3PM EST, while the loser would play the loser of that game in the 3rd place game on Sunday morning at 10AM EST.

I have a combined 4 years of experience as a Baseball & Basketball Play by Play announcer, which is where I learned my skills for commentary/breakdowns.

What an amazing game. Both teams played excellent. Love the emotion Curaçao plays with. They are more like a family than they are a team.
Thats it, you got it right! Thats a thing a lot of people dont know and they thought we wont make it but we are a family not just a team and that unity helps us a lot to reach this far 🇨🇼👊🏽
I couldn't even dream of being as good as these boys are when I was 11 or 12. They are incredible.

Chinese Taipei is really impressive, no huge kids that throw 80. Just really skilled ball players. I was rooting for them.
Everything aside thing that stuck out to me the most about this game was the starting pitcher for Taipei he had some sick breaking pitches. He got a ton of movement and , in the short distance from the mound to the plate in L.L. that's pretty impressive. A particularly entertaining tournament this year . Some very good teams took some tough losses. The final is going to be fun to watch.

I am Panamanian, we beat Curacao, but Curacao is a very powerful team, with powerful pitchers and very focused players, I congratulate you guys, keep it up, so far for me the best team of the tournament. I see several of these kids as future big leaguers.

Wow, Curacao went 6-1 in the LLWS. Of their 6 wins, they won 5 of them by no more than 2 runs. Incredible defense and pitching. I underestimated them adn thought without their top 2, they'd be no match for CT, but hey somehow managed to pull it off, what a team. they play some great defense behind solid pitching, a truly small ball team.

Yes, I went back to that inning when CT held the runner at 3rd. I still think it is the right decision. The ball was already back in the infield around 2nd base and the runner was only about a third of the way home. Plus the following batters were 2nd, 3rd and 4th which were all the front of the lineups....

That pitch was right down the middle, it didn’t come close to the ground until the catcher caught it but when it crossed that was middle middle
It is not where it is caught but where it crosses the plate in relation to the batter. That pitch was a strike all day.
And then he said “these Chinese Taipei hitters are disciplined and hardly ever strike out” next pitch the guy swings at a pitch that nearly hits him to strike out 💀

I wish I could it represent Curaçao and the caribbean last year but we did get a chance to play in the Intermediate world series. Daveyjay Rijke 2 years last year with us and now this year. Daveyjay Rijke the best pitcher of the caribbean last year. I like playing with him.

I'm a big fan of this year's Curacao team. Winning out of the loser's bracket is always tough, even if you can win the championship without beating an undefeated team twice. Curacao is a very solid, well coached team. Pitching and fielding are their strengths, and although they might not be the most talented offense in the tournament they are certainly the best at playing small ball properly. If they make no errors against the annoying Hawaii team I can see them winning it all, and I really hope they do it.
Wow this pisses me off even more that the manager didn’t take out riken with a 7-1 lead in bottom of sixth with 1 out and 85 pitches or he would’ve been pitching tom against the powerhouse of Hawaii most likely
There are a lot of complaints about the double elimination issue but ppl don't understand the purpose. While I think we all can agree, it sucks for a team that has played consistently well as Taiwan to be eliminated on their first loss there are reasons for it.
1. The double elimination runs until the championship, part of this is to retain some parity for the championship game on both sides of the bracket. Imagine if Taiwan had to play again tomorrow? Both teams would have to extinguish more pitchers while Hawaii waits on the other side.
2. On the other hand, the teams from the winning bracket, have a massive advantage, Taiwan had played 3 games before Curaçao, THREE, Curaçao played 6, SIX before the Championship. Given the rules around pitch count, the team in the winners bracket should have better options at pitcher. (Curaçao didn't have either of their top 2 pitchers for example).
3. Finally, it's the rules. It kinda sucks but they've always been that way. On both sides.
Taiwan was great but they lost to a really strong, resilient team. I would've loved to see them play Hawaii and now we get to see a team who beat them play Hawaii, which is also exciting.
Hawai'i knows this rule well as it happened in 2019 and 2020 to us. Undefeated till the Championship game and then one loss and we're out. It sucks but the only way to correct it would be to play an actual series like a best of 3 type situation which obviously won't happen.
Taipei has not in Williamsport for 7 years, and only 4 or five times in LLWS since 1996. The coaches seems not knowing the importance of International Championship game and keep Ace pitcher Liao, so now We know that best pitchers should play in this game next year if Taipei represents Asia-pacific again. I found Hawaii also used their Ace pitcher to face Southeast even though they just hammered them 2 days before.
2 big coaching mistakes decided the international series; Curaco coach not pulling their best pitcher when they were way ahead in the previous game, giving them virtually no chance against Hawaii, and the Taiwan coach not waving that runner in to score in this game...Both could have changed the outcome of the LLWS Championship game. Would have LOVED to see Curacao's awesome pitcher go against Hawaii...

Both teams deserved the W with how they played throughout the tournament! I am happy for Curacao a great team from a little Island. Taipei has nothing to be ashamed of, the whole Island should be proud of how they played on the field. Three teams of the final four are from Island nations or states. ABC is owned by Disney. Disney wants to expand their market in China. China has a stranglehold on foreign investment going into China, and it will be very difficult for you if you acknowledge Taiwan as an independent country. Not saying that I agree with that mindset but that is what they do.
Taiwan has its own independent system, and China has been bullying Taiwan for a long time, but Taiwan can still be so strong. It's really powerful, and we don't need to expect the world now, because interests are greater than justice

Proof that, at every level, great pitching beats great hitting. Chinese Taipei had a 48-1 scored-to-allowed ratio, and Curacao beat them 1-0. Amazing.

Curacao has used up 3 Ace pitchers that could throw 78mile/hr. They only has #15 who gave a grand slam facing Panama. But for them nothing to lose, so #15 pitch well to finish today game. Congrat. for Curacao kids, they play terrific well (compare to Panama game)and deserve the win!

Both teams have performed very well. The Taiwan team has tried their best. The Curaçao team took advantage of the Taiwan team's mistakes and scored the only point. The defense is also a good performance. Congratulations to the Curaçao team for winning the international championship. The strength is really too strong, and the Taiwan team will fight for the third place with the Tennessee team

I've said it once I have said it a thousand times the teams that win championships do the basics better then any other team. Chinese Tai Pei gave up 2 runs the entire tournament and both were by error. Heartbreaking but facts you all. No substitute for learning the basics.

When he landed the bag didn't distort or anything from his weight , you could say he had the outside of his right shoe or even toe on the side of the bag but idk. It's little league I guess. @@Bigpapiofficial933 Mexico was ahead 1-0 by a home run from Miguel Padilla. They kept it like that until the bottom of the 5th when they committed an error. That error cost them 2 runs which put Curacao on top. They lost 2-1 to Curacao 😭😭😭 still glad that someone beat Taiwan tho even if it was Curacao rather than Mexico

Taiwan might beat Tennessee especially since Tennessee no longer has Trent McNiel on the mound who at least slowed Hawaii down to 5 runs (5-1 was the score). But I still hope Tennessee gives it all they got cause I love this team

I believe Curaçao field discipline might give Hawaii somewhat of a problem, but Hawaii have really good hitters that will swing at anything. I got Hawaii winning 6-2 SMH
