It’s not easy to find Western movies with a strong female lead. Or strong women at all.
Women are everywhere in Westerns, just not usually in the key roles.
Frontier women had a hard life, they had to cook, shoot, sew, mend, build, handle livestock, care for the kids and deal with the same hardships the men did. They all deserve our respect and gratitude.

My all time favourite was Ella Raines in Tall In The Saddle with John Wayne. She's absolutely gorgeous! Thanks mate. Have a good Christmas.

All great western movies with tremendous performances by the leading ladies. My two favorites you mentioned are Annette Bening and Laura San Giacomo. Two other outstanding western movie gals were Dorothy Malone and who can top the performance of Kim Darby in the classic 'True Grit'.

Ahh. Yes Crazy Cora Quigley Down Under that movie was made by the combination of Laura San Giancamo and Rickman and Selleck.
