Thanks for this sharing Laura! This is a wonderful series. More cutting videos would be great! No time-lapse videos, just to watch you work in real time in silence or as your thoughts unfold in whatever way suits you.

we have shot another one in more close up - I'm also thinking about trying to do some livestreaming - probably on Instagram, but I will announce it if I do!

Hi Laura! I also have back pain and found that if you sit lower then you do at the video you reduce your back from hurting significantly.
I got a really high table because i work standing up and it helps my back.
    Try it out.

Hi thank you for your wise words - I also now work with a slope which I find helps too.

As good as ever! It would be very interesting to see some of the cutting done from directly above, maybe as a time-lapse... (Sorry, Ben, more camera-work and angles!)

Mark Gibbons you have made Ben’s day he he - but yes that would be good!

Time lapse is a problem because I constantly move the lino around so the cutting angles are optimum. Ben would have to set up a jig and stop me after each cut so the lino could be photographed. It could be done, but I think it would drive us both crazy!!!

As a beginner I am finding these videos really useful. In watching this one and seeing the clearing out work I am wondering how deep can I cut down into the lino. The texture of the lino appears to get more ‘aerated’ the deeper I go so is that ok to expose this generally? If anyone can help with this advice, other than Laura, it would be appreciated.

Hi John - if it is the traditional lino, you can go all the way down to the backing, but do watch out for stray hairs popping up from the backing and catching ink if you go that deep. I think I mention this in one of the set of three on cutting I did earlier in the series

Laura, thank you very much. I haven’t been going anywhere near as deep as that so far, being a bit cautious to do so, with some untidy (but interesting) results. I shall try this out for a neater result which I think would be your preference. I very much appreciate your time and advice in these videos.

Hi Laura, I'm finding your talks quite inspirational, looking forward to the next one. I also watched a Japanese artist demonstrating (on wood), that angled, knife that they use to cut right on the line. They don't seem to be included in lino cutting tools sets. Is that not a good procedure for cutting lino? You used a fine gouge to go around your fine lines.
