💚 Real nice Amy 💚 My largest one, 8" Scarlett may need an up-pot soon. The water just recently began running straight through without hesitation. I just bought some more 10" pots just in case. Must always be prepared at least try anyways. Spring 🌼 🌱 is here and it's beautiful! Blessings 😇 my dear friend.
💚Hi Sharon! Yours are just now blooming, so that's probably why they're not taking in much water. And it's always wise to have a bigger pot on hand. 🤣 Blessings to you dear friend. 😇🌵🤗🌷
@@OrchidWhisperer Don't know. I'm gonna check Scarlet's roots soon probably in April. That one is done blooming as she was the first to bloom. It's time to plant sunflower 🌻 seeds inside now. So much to do before June here. Loving it all tho. 😇
Great video Amy. I gave my TG cacti some CalMag per your suggestion and a week later my red one finally gave me some buds! 😃 She's continuing to bloom and produce more buds. I think she wants to be my Easter cactus. 🥰 Have a blessed week. 🙋♀️💐🌼😎🐦🌱
Hi Amy, great tips for the cacti. I enjoyed listening. Mine don’t need repotting this year. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Many blessings dear friend and Shalom. 🙏🏻🌸🥰🤗🫂
Hi Shirley! I hope mine dont have to be repotted again for a long time! Big Red almost won the fight in our repotting session last summer! 🤣 Many blessings, my friend! 🤗😇🌺🌷
Hi Amy 🌸, perfect timing for a TC cactus update! I added some cal/mag to my watering schedule like you suggested in your last video & they are loving it! Trying to pay close attention not to over water for fear of that ole root rot😱. Didn’t you also say that propagating stimulates new growth? I’ll probably be doing that soon. I thank you & my plants definitely thank you for all of your helpful tips🌼🌺. May God shower you with blessings 😇🙏🏻❤️ my friend. Chrissy 🤠
Hi Chrissy! 🤠 Glad to hear your plants are doing well! 🤗 Propagating a mature plant does help. I keep mine shaped and groomed that way. If I hadn't trimmed back Big Red, he'd be as big as Texas now! 🤣 Have a blessed week, my friend! 😇
I am so glad I discovered your channel. I've grown Thanksgiving Cacti for three years but never had one to re-bloom until this year. This year I've had four of my plants to set buds and bloom. One that is in bloom now is a mass of blossoms. Watching your channel I have learned common sense, easy things to do to keep my plants healthy. As we go into spring here in North Carolina, I am keeping track of what to do and when to do it for my TCs. Your videos are so filled with care info and you inspire confidence in your viewers that they can grow beautiful, blooming holiday cacti. Thank you, Amy, for your knowledge and generosity!!
Thank you so much for your awesome comment and feedback! I appreciate you taking the time to share that with me...it made my day! :) And I'm so happy to hear your cacti are blooming and doing well! Have a great day! Amy
Hi Amy, l have been wondering why I’m not seeing any buds on my spring cactus. I haven’t fed it and watered sparingly. But I’m looking at it and I see it is producing some new growth. Not sure what to do now. It’s getting morning sun and bright light. It looks very healthy also.
Hi Yoli, I did a video on my Easter cactus last month. I dont think mine is mature enough to bloom yet, it's less than a year old. I gave mine 55 degree temps in Nov and Dec, it's supposed to trigger them to bloom. But mine hasn't bloomed yet. My friend who has the mother plant has buds, so hopefully mine will next year! 😇
@@OrchidWhisperer mine was blooming when I purchased last year at this time of year. Well I’ll see what it does,it looks great. It really has grown a lot . Thank you for responding
Any, I’m thinking of getting a grow light for my Thanksgiving cactus. When do you recommend me starting to use it in the spring when it’s growing through out the summer? Should the light be a foot away from the plant and how many hours should the led lamp be turned on? 6 or 12? Sorry, really want some gorgeous blooms this fall. Have a blessed day!
Hi Pietra! I use grow lights on my cactus all year long, and I set the timer for 8 hours all year. Placing the light a foot away from the plant should be fine, but keep a close eye on it the first week just in case. I hope your cactus blooms beautifully for you! Blessings! Amy :)
Great Video, I have a thanksgiving cactus that’s been growing nicely near my west facing window. My segments are still a pale green color. The plant is 3 yrs old. I don’t understand why the plant hasn’t turned a nice darker green color. Don’t understand why the old segments and the new segments are the same color. What should I do?
@@OrchidWhisperer Thank you for replying so quickly. This past Dec. I only got one bloom in my plant.😞. To be honest I haven’t been fertilizing it. I will use all your advice and try to get my plant to produce many more blooms this year! Thank you for your advice. The plant does look healthy. I just don’t have great lighting in my house. May have to invest in grow lights. Thanks again for your help. I’m going to be a life long follower. Bless you
@@pietramatina4827 once you add some LED lighting, your cactus will do much better. That's probably why it didn't bloom well. Have a blessed day...thanks so much for the sweet comment! 😇🌺Amy
That happens. The branches get heavy and the plant cant support the weight. Try putting the plant down into a larger container to support it. You dont have to repot it...just put the existing pot into a larger one. 😇
I purchased a Thanksgiving cactus in full bloom. It has gone down hill ever since I brought it home. I cannot tell if I have over watered or under watered. The plant is totally limp. Any suggestions please.
I would take cuttings of any part of the plant that isn't limp and start a new plant. Also, your plant might still make it. Just be careful about how to water it. I know several people whose cactus recovered, but it will take time. I hope it improves for you. :)
My thanksgiving started to bloom a few weeks for the first time but in 1 full bloomed the rest of the buds fell off before opening I didnt move it at all has this happen to yours
It sounds like bud blast...it happens if there's been a sudden change in temperature. It happened to mine at Christmas when we had really cold weather.
Good tip to keep them indoors, rodents find them delicious and I had a squirrel try to bury food on one of my TCs that I had placed on the porch for a few hours. Grrrr.
Thank you for sharing. God Bless you!!
Thank you Ingrid! 😇

As long as it's growing and blooming well, then it's fine. Some of them aren't as dark green in color, and it's completely normal. Happy growing! 😇
