I can't be the only person that's bothered by this but, I really wish the CPU progressed players in a more balanced way with balanced skillsets and attributes like a WR with 90 DRR and also having 66 SRR at the same time
Same with lineman. it's common for players to be better at a certain thing but not so much to where it's unrealistic. like the upgrades should be spread out. not just towards whatever raises the overall higher
The worst is lineman. Pretty much every other position will increase ratings from other archetypes to raise their overall. You rarely see quarterbacks with more than a 10 point difference between their best and worst accuracy, and the same can be said for Route running and man vs zone coverage. RB’s increase BTK, CAR, etc with elusive upgrades or JKM and SPN on power upgrades. LB’s gain both tackling and coverage, especially if the main archetype is Field general. However, DL and OL will be exclusively good at one thing. You’ll have a 90 OVR power RG with 68 Run Block Finesse and an 89 OVR run stopper DT with 70 PMV. DE’s are even worse with 90+ pass rush moves and 70 BSH.
Like most power rushers in the NFL will be somewhat good at shedding blocks and even some guys who win with speed can set the edge. they shouldn't have low 60's block shedding. And corners that are better in Zone like a Byron Murphy also aren't absolutely horrid in man coverage. Don't get me started on how all Pass protecting archetypes are weak on the O-line too 😭. My biggest gripe with the game. the interfaces and stuff are cool but I really need that to get fixed
@@yO-qw5mq I manually fix it by lowering higher ratings and raising lower ratings to be more balanced. It’s tedious, but it works. I agree, it’s a big issue with the game, but my biggest concerns are things that we can’t fix by editing players
No matter what they add to drafting, the most interesting part of the offseason, is including draft day CPU trades. Without this feature it's all for nothing. Draft day becomes much more dynamic and interesting knowing any team could trade up for the player I'm targeting. There is no reason why the projected 1st pick should fall out of the top 3 picks. Whether it's from a team trading up for the 1st pick or having a more dynamic and ruthless regression system it needs to be added. In their example, they had Denver finishing with the 1st pick and TB with the 4th pick. At some point there should be a regression system that makes Nix a mid 1st rd pick and Baker a vet, lose value and regress in ratings for not being able to get it done. Those teams should move on and look for a blue-chip QB with that high pick.
I agree they need CPU trades in general. I don't think that the CPU actually does any trading with anyone but the player and only if the player iniates it. As for the regression you mentioned Denver having the 1st pick but do we know how far into the future this was? There's also the possibility that Nix got hurt and missed an extended amount of time. Now if after say 4 years they're consistently picking top 10 or top 5 then sure maybe have him regress if he's not getting it done. But if they're picking top 5 but he's throwing for 4K and 30+ TDs regularly that's not his fault and he shouldn't be punished for that. I agree that regression shouldn't just happen when a guy hits 30 or whatever. They need to have a system like what MLB the show does where if an aging veteran has a good year they may not get hit as hard by the regression and if a rookie absolutely bulbs then he should see some regression.
EA NEEDS TO DO THIS! My problem with all the new breakout scenario stuff is that there will be too many players that go up in development during the season only to go right back down at the end of the season. There’s been too many seasons where players that have a good season still go down in development trait because of their end of year rankings. The way to fix this is to remove the attachment of abilities to development traits like CFB 25 did. Development traits should strictly impact how fast your player will level up their ratings, while abilities should be earned based on the players ratings. A 95 OVR star dev player should still have lots of abilities compared to an 85 overall X Factor player. In order to avoid too many players being overpowered by abilities, they need to make abilities, less cartoonish and more of a slight like they do in CFB 25. Additionally, I think that the ratings cap for ratings categories in CFB 25 would be a perfect addition to Madden. Some ratings should not be able to be improved. I’m tired of seeing a 95 speed corner go up to 99 speed after three years. It’s completely unrealistic and makes players’ initial ratings irrelevant as long as they have a high dev trait. Speed, acceleration, agility, change of direction, injury, and toughness should only be able to increase by 1 attribute point each (maybe 2 for all except speed) Throw power and accuracy rarely improve IRL, but for the sake of game progression, just have THP be the only stuck rating. A QB drafted with 91 THP shouldn’t be able to become Mahomes and get up to 97 THP. They were drafted with the understanding that their ceiling was limited by their arm. MLB the show has the best progression system in sports games. Players who play well progress, and those who don’t, won’t. It makes younger players wild cards and not a sure bet to become a superstar player. In Madden any player 76 OVR or higher with hidden dev is a guaranteed quality starter for years. Furthermore, the potential rating provides clear tiers of player without having to mess with XP sliders. Some players in the 80’s play at an MVP level, but they shouldn’t always go up in overall. Look at Cooper Kupp, who is objectively around an 87-89 overall WR when healthy. He had a 99 overall level season in 2021 which has proven to be a huge outlier. If you have the attribute caps like CFB 25, it creates a potential system similar to MLB the show where you can draft an 82 overall rookie DE who will only ever be an 84. This happens frequently. I just want players to be more defined in their skillset to make the draft matter more. You can have a wider variety of floors and ceilings within certain skillsets that allow teams to be more safe or risky with their player acquisition. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

I feel like madden should borrow from the cod dev cycle. Split up there dev teams and do bi-yearly releases of madden franchise vs mut w seasonal updates.
my least favorite thing about franchise and it might be nitpicky but for years and years now players under 28 or so literally only get better there’s no chance of having a lower overall…it’s quite frustrating having the same players every different franchise be at very similar ratings if not the exact same at the same points in the future. clyde edwards helaire is a case that happens so often. he’s only gone down since his rookie season but in madden if you have him the same stat line over his career he would still go up every season no matter what. like i said it’s nitpicky but as someone who strives for simulation style it’s frustrating to see the only player regression due to age
I really hope they totally upgraded the Draft Day visuals beyond what we’ve seen here. For years now, the background is made up of what seems like zombies crowded around the stage. Bring in some shots of the fans of the team waiting for the pick to be announced or wide shots of the war rooms. Even overlays a teams needs and best available at that position. I’ll probably do what I’ve done in the past, continue playing my franchise on Madden 24 and wait for a significant upgrade before buying a new version.
Formation subs is enough to keep me in Madden. It's crazy EA expects us to run a cfb dynasty defense without formation subs. And what's worse is the formation subs that can be made(in game) are unreliable at best.

Please you definitely need to do the new Madden. So many story lines to create with all the CFB vids you’ll be doing…also I love the Cardinals series but I feel you need to focus more on the CFB for your view$. CFB everyday and give us a day or two a week with two videos? One being an hour plus long Cardinals Epic. Your core fans will watch those long videos!
I do worry that with CFB25 being released, there’s a lot riding on this year’s Madden doing well. If both games perform well independently in different markets, they’ll likely be motivated to continue developing both as unique, individual experiences. If Madden takes a hit because a sizeable chunk of their core demographic bought CFB instead, I can imagine the games becoming less distinguishable from each other every year until we end up with what is essentially a reskin.
I think Madden buyers will mostly buy CFB in addition to, not instead of, Madden. Remember pro and college football are completely different brands of football
People already think CFB25 is just a Madden reskin so if Madden doesn't perform this time around then EA may be less likely to do anything to change that narrative because I imagine CFB25 cost more to develop and would likely be the one to suffer if Madden doesn't perform
@@memeteam2692 yeah, but I think for a lot of the age 16-24 demographic without disposable income (which is apparently 20% of Madden’s sales), as well as more casual players who don’t need more than one football game, there will be a decision to make. For adults making enough money for a retail game purchase to be negligible, there are plenty of reasons to buy both - but I know when I was in college I wouldn’t have been able to justify the $150 spend for two different games, and as a kid growing up I know my folks were sure as hell making me choose which of the two I wanted more.

The contracts aren’t too bad. MLB the show is definitely the worst of the major sports games for contract demands. The problem I have is CPU roster management. They will pay an 86 OVR FS with a very replaceable skillset while letting their franchise QB walk. It completely breaks immersion
idk how the sales will compare, but honestly i think that the reception for this coming madden is going to be way more negative than even what it usually is. when you have CFB to compare it to, this just looks like a business as usual roster update with a couple new presentation features you'll end up skipping after a while anyway would love to be wrong though
I understand your concern about the long term accessibility of a web based team builder, but I have to disagree overall. It is much easier and much more versitile to be able to do all of the work necessary to design a cool team and roster on a computer than it is sitting there with a controller trying to do all of it. It's much quicker and, honestly, I would give up on trying some of the detail work if I had to do it that way.
In a perfect world they would release each game (Madden and CFB) only every two years. So one year Madden, the next year CFB and so on. Not both in the same year. That’s the only way each game could really improve over time.
Maybe im just jaded against EA but I have a really hard time believing they put real effort in madden this year with ncaa 25 coming out. Going all in on storylines is concerning considering how bad its been since its rollout. My dealbreaker is whether or not they fixed the generated player body types. It ruined my franchise last year when every OL i drafted looked like a WR and i couldnt even fix it in the player editor. If thats not fixed and they didnt put any real effort into the gameplay side i cant see myself playing madden over ncaa
I disagree with cane here, defenses in real life all play as one. I’ve seen way more qbs and wrs, and generally guys fighting with each other on offense than I’ve seen with defenses. Defenses play as one and I respect that kinda culture, you get a pick we all win. If you jump offsides your teammates support you. Meanwhile on offense if you drop a pass or don’t target a WR. (Cough Stefon diggs) you suddenly have QB and WR drama, and just fighting on the sideline. Defenses play as one. That is why defenses celebrate as a unit.
I think my favorite add to this whole deep dive was the fact they will show old stats and awards accurately… THANK GOD FOR CF25 Bc it’s not looking promising here bois 😭
I think it’s the right move to focus on CFB 25 Madden doesn’t seem like a huge improvement this year and the team building aspect in college is much more fun

What you said about team builder in 2k is kinda half truth half lie. Yes the actual team creation is in game but all of the non-generic logos and such are all downloadable only so when game servers get shut down those go as well. Obviously better than Madden but still pretty generic
Can we just get a custom slider based coach/player creator please? I mean, they used them in so many of their other games. 90% of the coaches in NCAA just look awful...and its the same 8 coaches in 400 variants. Awful. Just give us a proper create a player. Honestly, I'll probably be taking a year off of Madden and sticking with NCAA. I don't have time for both. And while some of these additions are cool, it doesn't fix the main issue that the Frost Bite engine does not work. Never has, never will.
This could be a really cool and unique video idea. Following a players pro career in a like longer form almost documentary style video using Madden as the base(not sure this is what you meant but it’s what I image. Cane is great at making storylines feel organic while never being over produced)
I don’t think they did enough to get me to go all in with this game versus CFB. Also cannot justify paying $70-$75 for a reskinned game. I’ll wait till it’s like $30 and then buy lol.
Also, why did they not add the option in CFB to save the draft classes and import them into Madden? That would’ve been a serious game changer like it was in the past. Huge missed opportunity in my opinion.
Licensing issue. They only have the right to those college players names as college players, not as pro. So they cant have their likeness carried over to Madden by EA, it would be a violation of the agreement. They could do it in the past because players had no names and there was no likeness dispute for a while

Madden gameplay imo hasn’t been good since Madden 13. Madden 25 and 13 was Maddens best gameplays imo. Those games were decent at best though because they were bare bones everywhere else. Maddens 05-08 on the PS2,Xbox,GC were great overall products yes but who wants to go that far back and play those games still? I know I don’t. Graphics matter some to me and most of all physics based gameplay matter the most to me and a lot of football sim gamers.

I tried out 23 and didn’t like the way it felt… I got the game used for like $15 and got rid of it after a week of playing it… I haven’t bought a Madden full price since 20.. 20 was fun but broken gameplay and a buggy mess. 19 was a complete disappointment I played that game like 2 weeks after being so excited and I was fooled… I went back to playing Madden 18 which wasn’t anything special…
As a slight change of pace from all the people who aren't excited... I'm actually looking forward to this. I get hundreds of hours every year out of maddens franchise.
my biggest gripe is a minor one with madden, tell me why a tight end with his archetype ratings of 65 blocking, 80 possession and 90 vertical threat, his OVERALL still 90. Why call it "overall" if you're just going to have his best archetype be his "overall rating". A player like Mike Gesicki could be a 85 vertical threat, but a 40 blocker, that should allow him to be a fair overall for his actual play, while highlighting his strengths more than ever. I hope this makes sense.
all of this is irrelevant when your O-lineman walks by the defender that tackles you behind the line on a run play. fix the actual game then worry about all this shit
if you do some sort of series where you play the games on Madden 25 I will be happy. But please don't forgo a played season for a sim franchise( in my opinion the last 3 sim series are really forgettable, if I'm being honest all of them are forgettable)

Why is it all about simulation for so many people? I played last year game and loved it. Other then like between games was a little boring but it was good and gameplay was good. There will always be something to do to improve the game and the mode but as for how far they come in the past 5 years it’s a lot better. If you play dynasty to simulate all your games then I don’t understand why you play it at all. It’s a football game for you to experience playing football with professional players not to simulate every game and let the computer pick how the game goes for you. I think it played just fine and how every other team did was fine in my opinion. I have been getting madden every year since like 07. They are leaps and bounds better then they have been since like 2013. So the complaints I think are just people being picky. You don’t like it then don’t buy it but people like me just enjoy football and when we can’t watch it we want to play it.

For adults making enough money for a retail game purchase to be negligible, there are plenty of reasons to buy both - but I know when I was in college I wouldn’t have been able to justify the $150 spend for two different games, and as a kid growing up I know my folks were sure as hell making me choose which of the two I wanted more.
The only way commentary fixes the issues of presentation in maddem for me is if they hired back Gus Johnson

The contracts aren’t too bad. MLB the show is definitely the worst of the major sports games for contract demands.
The problem I have is CPU roster management. They will pay an 86 OVR FS with a very replaceable skillset while letting their franchise QB walk. It completely breaks immersion
If they added 70 storylines and didn’t add a training camp hold out…. Madden will probably be the online game for me bc I can’t stand CFB online.
idk how the sales will compare, but honestly i think that the reception for this coming madden is going to be way more negative than even what it usually is. when you have CFB to compare it to, this just looks like a business as usual roster update with a couple new presentation features you'll end up skipping after a while anyway

I understand your concern about the long term accessibility of a web based team builder, but I have to disagree overall. It is much easier and much more versitile to be able to do all of the work necessary to design a cool team and roster on a computer than it is sitting there with a controller trying to do all of it. It's much quicker and, honestly, I would give up on trying some of the detail work if I had to do it that way.
I’m surprised that there hasn’t been more fan fair around the ability to customize your stadium. I wonder what toolset were going to get for that.
In a perfect world they would release each game (Madden and CFB) only every two years. So one year Madden, the next year CFB and so on. Not both in the same year. That’s the only way each game could really improve over time.
Thought this looked promising, I'll give it a try on PC, especially as I don't have a CFB-ready console lol

Maybe im just jaded against EA but I have a really hard time believing they put real effort in madden this year with ncaa 25 coming out. Going all in on storylines is concerning considering how bad its been since its rollout. My dealbreaker is whether or not they fixed the generated player body types. It ruined my franchise last year when every OL i drafted looked like a WR and i couldnt even fix it in the player editor. If thats not fixed and they didnt put any real effort into the gameplay side i cant see myself playing madden over ncaa
I disagree with cane here, defenses in real life all play as one. I’ve seen way more qbs and wrs, and generally guys fighting with each other on offense than I’ve seen with defenses. Defenses play as one and I respect that kinda culture, you get a pick we all win. If you jump offsides your teammates support you. Meanwhile on offense if you drop a pass or don’t target a WR. (Cough Stefon diggs) you suddenly have QB and WR drama, and just fighting on the sideline. Defenses play as one. That is why defenses celebrate as a unit.
I think my favorite add to this whole deep dive was the fact they will show old stats and awards accurately… THANK GOD FOR CF25 Bc it’s not looking promising here bois 😭
They need to add more generated Faces to the game or allow us to customize our rookies like you can’t in superstar mode.
I think it’s the right move to focus on CFB 25 Madden doesn’t seem like a huge improvement this year and the team building aspect in college is much more fun

No reason for it to exist for ME otherwise. I didn't buy this years CFB and won't until classes are back in.. If it never does then so be it. Already went a decade not playing it, I can keep on not playing it.

What you said about team builder in 2k is kinda half truth half lie. Yes the actual team creation is in game but all of the non-generic logos and such are all downloadable only so when game servers get shut down those go as well. Obviously better than Madden but still pretty generic
Can we just get a custom slider based coach/player creator please? I mean, they used them in so many of their other games. 90% of the coaches in NCAA just look awful...and its the same 8 coaches in 400 variants. Awful. Just give us a proper create a player.
Honestly, I'll probably be taking a year off of Madden and sticking with NCAA. I don't have time for both. And while some of these additions are cool, it doesn't fix the main issue that the Frost Bite engine does not work. Never has, never will.

This could be a really cool and unique video idea. Following a players pro career in a like longer form almost documentary style video using Madden as the base(not sure this is what you meant but it’s what I image. Cane is great at making storylines feel organic while never being over produced)

I don’t think they did enough to get me to go all in with this game versus CFB. Also cannot justify paying $70-$75 for a reskinned game. I’ll wait till it’s like $30 and then buy lol.
Also, why did they not add the option in CFB to save the draft classes and import them into Madden? That would’ve been a serious game changer like it was in the past. Huge missed opportunity in my opinion.
Licensing issue. They only have the right to those college players names as college players, not as pro. So they cant have their likeness carried over to Madden by EA, it would be a violation of the agreement. They could do it in the past because players had no names and there was no likeness dispute for a while

Being better than Madden 17 as a whole is good yes but is the gameplay going to be better.
Madden gameplay imo hasn’t been good since Madden 13. Madden 25 and 13 was Maddens best gameplays imo. Those games were decent at best though because they were bare bones everywhere else. Maddens 05-08 on the PS2,Xbox,GC were great overall products yes but who wants to go that far back and play those games still? I know I don’t. Graphics matter some to me and most of all physics based gameplay matter the most to me and a lot of football sim gamers.

I tried out 23 and didn’t like the way it felt… I got the game used for like $15 and got rid of it after a week of playing it… I haven’t bought a Madden full price since 20.. 20 was fun but broken gameplay and a buggy mess. 19 was a complete disappointment I played that game like 2 weeks after being so excited and I was fooled… I went back to playing Madden 18 which wasn’t anything special…

my biggest gripe is a minor one with madden, tell me why a tight end with his archetype ratings of 65 blocking, 80 possession and 90 vertical threat, his OVERALL still 90. Why call it "overall" if you're just going to have his best archetype be his "overall rating". A player like Mike Gesicki could be a 85 vertical threat, but a 40 blocker, that should allow him to be a fair overall for his actual play, while highlighting his strengths more than ever. I hope this makes sense.

Why is it all about simulation for so many people? I played last year game and loved it. Other then like between games was a little boring but it was good and gameplay was good. There will always be something to do to improve the game and the mode but as for how far they come in the past 5 years it’s a lot better. If you play dynasty to simulate all your games then I don’t understand why you play it at all. It’s a football game for you to experience playing football with professional players not to simulate every game and let the computer pick how the game goes for you. I think it played just fine and how every other team did was fine in my opinion. I have been getting madden every year since like 07. They are leaps and bounds better then they have been since like 2013. So the complaints I think are just people being picky. You don’t like it then don’t buy it but people like me just enjoy football and when we can’t watch it we want to play it.
