Btw if your key fob dies and the car thinks the key is not there, the engine will not start (says key is missing) - an *emergency override* is to flip open the center console, insert the key fob upside down into the little slot, & push down until it clicks into place. The car will read your key even when the battery is low. Then you can start the engine! 👍🏼
Thank you again, Anthony!! My battery which I replaced a year ago has already died, so I came back to find your video to watch it again. It worked!! - and didn't take too long. :-)
im dumb as hell too. I dumb bought a dumb cr2025 battery instead of a dumb cr2032 on dumb accident because I was dumb rushing at the dumb dollar store but dumb figured I’d try it anyway for dumb shits n gigs. Turns out it’s working so far i dumb think because even though it’s dumb thinner, the dumb fob is holding it in dumb place well enough to work for the dumb time being until I can dumb get back to the dumb dollar store and dumb buy the correct dumb battery!
It is much easier to pry it open with the tip of a butter knife. Insert it 1mm at the top of the chrome piece on the bottom plastic side (the one with the H logo) and gently pry open. Don't forget to properly fit the rubber piece all around back in place.
"I'm dumb as hell" made me laugh because clearly I'm even dumber as I need to watch your video to figure out how to open the fob. Thx for the good directions.😊
Something else other than being very careful not to accidentally cracking your case, be careful not to let the spring loaded valet release to pop out. That thing is a real pain in the @$# to get back into place. Overall, I think your video is great.
If u are using too much pressure to pry, try using a razor blade at that thin space along tha side and pry. U got a strong chance of breaking the fob using the key
This method did not work, and I ended up with a now chipped and damaged plastic casing of the key fob, both externally where it chipped on the edges and internally around the supposed gap referenced in the video. I ended up using my fingernails and sliding them between the vertical metal trim piece on the fob, after removing the valet key. I had to gently rock and slide my fingernails up and down the crack between the metal trim and the brown plastic until it eventually gave way.

That's some great, worthwhile, very useful extra info. Thanks Robert.
Thank you. It literally took me like 2 seconds. It was so easy!
Thanks a lot!! You explained that very clearly and me and my car appreciate it!!

OMG you are a life saver!!! My car is 3 months old and i flipped out. Thanks for making my life easy :)

Excellent video. Wish I had seen this one first. That's cool that you can use the key to separate the fob and remove the battery. Great job!
Much easier than I expected, thanks to you!
Good video. No wrecking fob with knife like others show. Thanks!
Thanks for the video. You saved me a dealer trip. I thought my secondary key was not pogrammed to the car. Nope just a bad battery.
Thank you, just saved me a heap of effort!!
Excellent commentary & excellent video. Thanks, TED
I cracked the plastic using this method. Be careful. I finally used a thin knife to remove the back panel safely.
Thank you for this excellent, simple explanation!
I appreciate your presentation and delivery A job well done, Thanks

Your video is too blurry, i cant see where to put the key in to open it.
The same slot the key sits in all of the time.
