    Nice! I’ve been really liking the 686 Everywhere pants. They’re not fishing -specific but they work really well and are super comfy.

    Great video. First time anyone has talked about wet wading pants in greater detail. Thanks! I need to try the Orvis Jackson Hole. Currently using Columbia Silver Ridge convertible pants. They are lightweight, dry very quick and at the end of the day i can unzip the lower pant leg and have shorts on the way back home or campground. The lower leg portion can be rinsed off separately since they tend to get muddy and dirty walking back to the truck. They dry quickly and can zip them back on.

      Came here to say the same. Silver ridges are my goto right now, for the same reasons. For all the pants, make sure you’re using synthetic material underwear.. otherwise you’ll stay wet

    Speaking of jeans….I do a lot of survival stuff on my channel, one of the most important thing I’ve learned is the phrase “cotton kills” when it comes to outdoor clothing. Love my orvis pants! I’ve got both a pair of wet waders, and insulated ones that I wear early in the morning under my waders to stay warmer.

      patagonia swiftcurrent wet wade pants for me as well. i've noticed that the material can sort of "catch" water when it's wet, but just give the fabric a tug and it dumps out.
      just yesterday when getting out of the river, the cargo pocket was full of water as i crawled up the bank. took awhile for it to all drain out.
      i still love 'em though

    I choose my wading pants at Costco - I paid $9 for Union Bay tech pants and $14 for Weatherproof Vintage tech pant. I fish in the Sierras in California. They work great

    Any pant can be sprayed with Permethrin to repel bugs. Sawyer makes a good one and can be purchased at Walmart. I spray all pants, shorts, shirts, and jackets.

    Wet wading is not that big here in the UK, but I do do it a couple times per year. I have a couple of pairs of Simms G4 Arapaima. Great trousers, shame Simms discontinued them. Using them not only for fish but walking/hiking/trekking as well.

    Great video! Hardest thing for me finding pants for wet wading has been sizing. I can admit I am overweight but the sizing some of these companies use is crazy. Always a difficult thing for me when it comes to techy clothing.

    Use the Orvis Jackson and Duluth Dry on the Fly. Wearing the Jackson pants now fishing in the Black Hills on the way to Montana and Idaho. Duluth has deeper pockets better for keeping wallets, car keys and floatant. Orvis Jackson pants has an elastic waist band. Like both pants.

    Rivers in my area are lined by heavy brush and thick nettles but I gave up wading with pants because of current drag on the baggy legs. I may wade a couple of miles one way and the drag takes it’s toll. My current system is a pair of nylon shorts over a pair of heavy spandex running pants. This gives me protection if I have to get out of the water and freedom of movement with much less drag on my legs in the water. I’ll stick with this until companies start making wading pants with tapered legs which may be never.

    • @rodc4334
      @rodc4334 2 года назад +1

    • @FlyFishFood

    • @myrlstone8904
      @myrlstone8904 2 года назад

      Ditto on that, my feet won’t tolerate soaking for an extended period. Macerated skin can lead to some very nasty blisters. Zip front waders can be much cooler than regulars if worn open. Expensive but worth the cost in my case.

      @BigDoeJ424 2 года назад

      @@BigDoeJ424 I’ll relate a very ugly personal experience. Macerated skin on the bottom of my foot and big toe led to some very deep blisters. Just how deep, I didn’t realize until they failed to heal properly. This ultimately resulted in an antibiotic resistant bone infection in my foot. This led to amputations after antibiotics were exhausted, first the big toe, then another toe, then another, then a metatarsal bone. Doctors warned I was in deep trouble if it could not be stopped. Obviously I’m still here, but the ordeal robbed a year from my life. It was opined that the open wounds being submerged for an extended period may well have been the source of the infection. It seems there are some antibiotic resistant naturally occurring bacteria in soil etc.
      I find that opening the front zipper on zip type waders gets rid of about half of the hot factor.
      You’re right there needs to be a less costly solution.

    Easy to overthink this. Go into your closet. Find a pair of lightweight synthetic fabric hiking pants that fit you. Put on. Go fishing.
    Tip: if you might go in crotch deep, no underwear. The personal parts you most want to dry will dry a lot quicker, vs even if you are wearing lightweight synthetic underwear. For sure no cotton underwear, you may never dry out!
    That said, I do like the ankle drawstring, I have a pair of hiking pants with that feature.
