Me and my friend were in Paris 2 months ago. And had similar experience in the subway. I was litrlly carrying my bag like yours, except its from zara and had couple of zips. I was also having my passprt with me. It was cold and rainy so i also had a shopping bag, umbrella and was wearing a trench. Group of women ( including girls) got in the train, tried to separate me and my friend and litrlly sorrounded me and started asking directions. I felt the lady beside me put hand in my trench and someone opened the zip of my bag. I freakedout and reacted shouting on the lady to give back my phone. Usually i carry myphone with right hand and subconsciously thought its in my right pocket. But very very lucky that my phone was in my left pocket and the lady was like check ur bag but saw the nervousness in her face. Litrlly next station they got down. I checked that the subway tickets were gone and my bag zip was half opened , but i had my book inside which made it difficult for them to reach out to anything. Going forward had discussions with locals and they shared their experiences. Moral: SITUATIONAL AWARENESS ALWAYS. we were not drunk, but cant imagine if we had couple of drinks and were unbothered about surroundings. So guys no drinking and getting on a subway!

Italy is an extremely unsafe country. We were on a family trip and my dad's phone got stolen and it was such an extremely difficult situation for us! Whenever visiting Italy be very careful. We even lodged a complaint to the police and they seemed to be pretty unbothered.

The emergency response in Sorrento (Police, Italian Coast Guard, Ambulance, Fire Department) was inefficient and unprofessional. On April 30, 2024, around 18:40 local time in Positano, Italy, we boarded the Position Jet Ferry from Position to Sorrento. About 100 passengers were on board, including families with children. The people onboard were from the USA, Canada, the UK, and Italy. Since we started the trip from Position, the driver has been speeding and playing with the ferry, going left to right. Around 19:00 local time, the driver of the ferry lost control of the boat, and the boat went sideways and started to sink for about 40 seconds. The lifejackets were not available. Water came into the ship, and a lot of people got hurt, traumatized, and panicked because the ship was not going to reach a floating point until a miracle happened that put us in a position to be normal. People around the world have to be aware of the tragedy and trauma that we experienced that day on the Mediterranean Sea-Gulf of Naples. Since the accident on April 30, 2024, we have never been contacted by any authorities from Sorrento, Italy, to provide us with an incident report number. Hi Gopali can I please suggest something....for your future travels... This is something my father told me when I travel .... Never use metro etc just to save money when u have luggage.... Usually travel from the airport/train station to hotel nd vise versa. Just pay the extra there and save yourself as when u hv to much to carry and figure out in a new country it's difficult...so it's better to pay for taxi/ cabs instead getting looted.❤ Just realised you did say this in the end !!!!!
