Wouldn't be surprised if these two teams will play against each other in the final. However i think it will be Switzerland against any of these two in the end in the final. Well played Suomi but now you see Sweden don't have the Swedish version of Marjamäki as the coach? (Garpenröv). Now we have Sam Hallam the Swedish version of Jukka Jalonen. Let's see who wins in the end. In my opinion Finland was better team but winner takes it all. Glhf Finland in last games and hopefully see you later. Loves from // Swede.

i knew it that once it gets to penalty shots sweden is going to win, there is no good shooters in finlands team, we controller most of the game but the problem is that happened also in USA game is that we cant score for some reason.

Also you are very lucky that Dallas won Seattle krakens in game 7 since Finland would had gotten 6 NHL players to their team including hintz who is leading playoffs leaderboards, he makes your Nylander look like a joke.

Hopefully we get to see Finland v Sweden with the actual national teams in the near future. Finland still has never won a best on best tournament. But they could with all the talent they have now.
Our problem this year it seems is not being able to score. We had the puck in swedens zone for such long periods of time but cant finish

Finland was better through the whole match. Luckily the penalty shots dont tell about anything. Finland played much better and a couple goals not going in was just bad luck. Luckily this game didn't matter.

It's simple... TAM-pay-ray with the emphasis on the first syllable, and the "r" is lightly trilled. These announcers must be mispronouncing it on purpose because a two-second conversation with a Finn would straighten them out 🤣

American English speakers tend to say 'tam' as /'tæm/, however æ is closer to Finnish ä, and the correct sound is 'a' as in palm (/pɑlm/). Therefore an American speaker might get quite close without really practicing by saying /ˈtɑmpɛɹɛ/. The Finnish pronunciation in IPA is /ˈtɑmpere/ with a trill or 'rolled' r, but that can prove be quite difficult for English speakers to master.

@@SomeNordicMan Probably because unlike in football where the team gets together a few weeks before the start of the tournament in the hockey WC many just drop in right from the NHL playoffs for instance. It takes a while before the machinery runs smoothly, if it ever does.
@@MrH0lm Well they just finished EHT matches about week before the first wc match with that team, so they should have been pretty prepared already.
If it couldve ended in a draw that would have been fair, but Im happy that Sweden won (and maybe a bit extra because I know of more than a few finns who place an unreasonable amount of importance in winning against Sweden because of the past).
Also, even if Sweden defended pretty well, Finland did as well (especially in the beginning where Sweden could not get any sort of weighty play in the offensive zone), though I also dont think Sweden where anywhere close to perfect, there was a few mistakes and chances given that Finland probably should have taken, I know that when two good teams meet, theres bound to be a chance or two eventually, but it felt like Finlands best chances came from sloppy or unfocused play by the Swedes (even though they had very good movement in the offensive zone, a bit like watching bandy at times even.)
I'm half Finn half Swede and you are indeed correct. Many of my Finnish brethren are absurdly obsessed with beating Sweden, in anything and everything. It's almost overwhelming how much it matters to many Finns, whereas my Swedish brethren doesn't seem to care all that much. They want Sweden to win of course, but it's not a bigger deal if they lose to Finland than to any other country.

@@mannydcbiancot's just because you always win in every single thing. And Finns also want to be good at something, but there is always a Swede who does things better. This is why Finland has become obsessed with Sweden, but not as much nowdays as in history.
Let me clarify that there is a stereotype in Finland that Swedes are better in everything and Swedes have money and Swedes laugh at Finns and think we are drunks and inferior. Because of this, Finns take all competitions where Sweden is against very seriously.
@@rivality100 The games against Finland are the most important ones to me and I know many other swedes as well. Sure it's not from some inferiority complex or an ingrained hate for Finland or anything. It's more like we are these two tiny nations who can swing it with the big boys and thus our clashes are the ones who decide the ACTUAL best team ;). And in what national hockeygame will you ever see the frenzy you'll see in the closing stages of an important swe-fin game!
Finland is also the only other nation I will follow in any sport and if Sweden can't make it to the final then I'm backing Finland. Finlands sak är vår :D

@@doommarauder3532 It depends on how you define Scandinavia. Me and most I've met Swedes define it purely geographically, which makes Finland Scandinavian, not Denmark. I don't understand this Finnish thing about not wanting to be seen as Scandinavian, in my view the difference between "Scandinavian countries" and "Nordic countries" is nothing more than counting the amount of potatoes you have planted in your backyards, you may give them different names but we're all the same in a good sense. Just FYI, I am Swedish and I love Finland, there's no contradiction between these two. Some of the best people I've known are Finnish.
@@Bragosso I'm swedish aswell and the reason Finland is not scandinavian is because its a peninsula. You cant include the country who is for the most part not in said peninsula. Denmark is arguably connected by land but again not really part of it. Nordic countries refers to a region, attitude and heritage. Estonia by all means fills the first two, but its not nordic because of heritage. Finland is the outlier there aswell, isn't far removed by the russia presence, but is so intertwined with the nordics that it is. The islands like Iceland and the Faroese are deeply connected through heritage, so they are nordic.
I love finland, I'm from the north which has alot of them. But I just have the need that region by their name should be distinct.

Finland has never been anything special in shootouts. Good thing is that finland dominated most of this game.
Dominated ? Not really. Maybe third when Sweden was defending the lead but before that it was maybe a slight advantage to Finland.
This is Sam Hallams defining tactic that has won him three SHL Championships in ten years with Växjö Lakers. Outstanding defensive play that allows very few clear chances for the opposing teams. He now finally leads Sweden after the catastrophe that was Johan Garpenlöv.

Sweden won Eurovision and aswell at Ice hockey, thing is that Sweden always does it better than Finland every year at ESC so Sweden is better at Eurovision, better at winning that is. Finland don't always lose against Sweden in Ice hockey but Sweden can still beat finnish butt even at their own home turf. Sweden is not a push over and knows very well how much finns hates to lose to a swede.

когда в хоккее всего лишь 6 топ-стран, исключать одну из них (на минуточку чемпион и экс-чемпион двух последних олимпиад - это выстрел себе в колено, но тут как говорится Россия виновата сама, ничего не попишешь.У той же Чехии, которая последние 7 лет не могла взять медали, в прошлом сразу бронзу взяла - без России легче играть и проще брать медали.Желаю всем участникам соревнований удачи
