  • On this episode of The Car That Ate My Brian we stop by Mark and Kelly Skippers on the way home from a trip to Nor Cal to check out their great collection of cars as well as pick up some needed parts! Then we start getting to work on making the car look even more like Tweedy as we tackle the headlight stands and get to cleaning up the chassis.

    Coming together. Exciting to get those moments where it looks like a actual car and not a pile of parts.

    It's so rewarding when you see your vision come together a piece at a time , slowly making it's way to completion ... even if your vision was originally someone else's .

    I'd love to see an episode devoted to the Skipper's cars -- that '34 custom roadster and a drive of that bucket roadster. Both are impressive!

    So damned glad to see this coming together!!!
    Those headlight stands do expose a dilemma about building a clone though, that gets me every time I get involved in stuff... When the original was a bit "weird", do you take the artistic license to make it a bit better? I'm glad you stuck to your guns and cloned what was there! I know I would probably cave to my own OCD.

      At first there was a few things I thought were weird but the more I got into it the more I loved the weird.. like the steering wheel.. it’s big and ugly and I use to hate it.. but now I love it cause I can’t see it any other way.. hahaha gotta be accurate..

    I think i would have to go with the four headlights on this car!

    • @MADFABRICATORSTV
      @MADFABRICATORSTV  2 года назад +1

      Man I love the quads as well.. but if I do that I’m now building the Roth version.. and that is way more pricier with all the chrome he added.. Also that’s pretty much the version the original currently is in.. So I decided not to go that route.

      Makes sense,I built mine loosely after Grabowski's .(I knew him) I look forward to your progress.

    Hey brother when you’re going to weld something completely and you do not want it to pull kind of like your gas tank mounts if you Backstep your welds I find it doesn’t pull nearly as much which means weld 2 inches then skip ahead 2 inches and weld back towards your old weld and do that all the way across I find things don’t pull nearly as much especially if you jump around while doing this for instance do 2 inches on one side and then go to the opposite side opposite corner and do 2 inches over there I am able to make thin metal stay pretty much exactly the same way it was when I fit it together this works very well for me if I am stuck in a position where I’ve got to do a long weld on the very thin metal especially if you tack it up a lot first this would have worked very well for the weld you did underneath your grill and please excuse the lack of punctuation I was in an accident so I dictate my messages
