Brilliant. Your timing couldn't of been better for me. I made a greeting card yesterday for a friend of mine, and it's not finished because I do need to add a greeting font and I was a bit lost at the thought of it. Thanks Ashley. :-)

Well explained Ashley...it is certainly all about the font size and pen size.
Thank you so much for taking the time and showing us how different pens perform...very informative and interesting...
I have the universal holder and the calligraphy set and would like to ask if the small barrel holder is worth purchasing please??
Hope you are keeping well and staying safe...here in Western Australia 🇦🇺 we have an app on our mobiles which we have to use to scan into shops, cafes etc when we are out. This is done so that anyone can be traced if someone tested positive....and it’s mandatory...you can write your details on the form if you don’t have the app on your phone.
    Huge crafty hugs Alison xx

Hi there is not a lot of difference in the width size of the universal and small barrel, if you're happy to add tape to your pens then i would stick with the universal

Thanks for gor that, never thought of putting paper at the base to stop marking - Doh! I have struggled to get pens to grip in these holders but I found another style made by 3D Printz which has never failed me, no tapng and the grip holds the pen firmly.

Glad it was helpful! The 3d one has been mentioned to me a few times by other people too.

I try to set my draw pressure as low as the pen will connect to the paper at, usually -3, sometimes -4, and my draw speed all the way up to 5 so the pen has less way and time to bleed into the paper. Bradley Hand ITC and Because I'm Happy are good fonts. Haven't tested all of mine but these two tested great today. I tried using just the fill and setting the font line to 0 but that didn't work out so well even though doing that made the line skinnier, the machine just wanted to fill and fill so it was a blob.
Edit: oh, also it seems to work smoother when I convert my words into shapes and then weld them, makes for a more continuous draw on the machine, especially if so the letters are connected. I think there's a random bits in the text that makes the machine blade go up and down more which can make blobby text. The Micron 03 pen works very well for me on the skinny lines, the thin sharpie not so much.

thank you, but is it really necessary to have the card in the bottom of the pen holder, doesnt the auto blade technology on the DX work out what depth the pen needs to be at. I use my universal blade holders all the time and never put a paper in it. Well I did when I first tried it because I had seen people do it on you tube, but I dont think it is actually necessary, perhaps on older models.

I dont actually use my pen holder very often and if i do i sometimes grab a holder that hasn't got the card on the bottom, but as its a universal holder and works on both the CM and SDX machines i think its nice to point it out and show how to use it. I do find that if i dont get a good result and then reset the pen using the card i get a better result. If yours works without then thats good too.

@@applelover53 thanks, I was worrying that perhaps I was damaging my machine somehow. You might be right, its probably a good idea to go with it.

Is there a way to delete files that were sent wirelessly to SNC at the machine? Can they also be delete from canvas workspace?

Hi yes ive shown how to do that in several videos. on the machine select the design and hit the trash can. in CW hover over the thumbnail icon of the design and an "X" should appear, select that and its deleted.
