In this short video I'll be going through why flaring is a good thing to do with your bettas as ive learned in my years of breeding and keeping these fish. With wild bettas the first symptoms and sign of stress is always the lack of interest to flare as this is a clear indicator that something is either wrong with the water or the fish itself so us wild betta breeders use flaring as sign of health check.
Flaring is considered very healthy for the fish as it promotes blood to flow throughout the body of the fish including the fins, it is always good to get your fish to become more active and interacting with them will greatly boosts their confidence. Naturally Betta's will flare at anything that they are curious about such as snails, shrimps or their own reflection.
In the video explains a process in which us breeders in thailand use to condition our fish so that we can exercise them when we need too and check on how their form is doing during the conditioning process. These up close flaring method gives us time to inspect for any defects, injuries or details on that fish that we need to know about to see if they are healthy or unhealthy.

He’s absolutely gorgeous and cool vid. I’ll have to try with my new betta

Sure give me some time and ill through all these suggestions!
Beautiful fish!!
Thanks for sharing the technique bro!! I hope I can keep all my bettas healthy with this flaring exercise from now onward. You Rock 🤘
Thank you!
what this fish name.???
@@Franksbettas this is also the kind of fish I will be breeding blue paradise fish with
Thanks for sharing 👍
Their iridiscence looks awesome on camera. For me the easiest way to build their condition when it comes to flaring is to just uncard them every now and then, but that only works when you keep them next to eachother in seperate containters.
Nice tips,... I will try it with my betta. Tq
Great 👍 video Frank, now I want to keep a betta fish 😆
Thanks for watching brother!
great content, thanks for sharing, new friend here, keep it up

Hey Frank, I would be very happy if you would make a video about which local fish and shrimp you can socialize with Bettas.
Very useful😍😍😍
Beautiful fish
Dude I’m trying to get a 2-3 alien’s. I contacted you through ig. Beautiful betta’s.
I will actually stick the very tip of my tweezers in the water and they will chase it. In the end they 1 pellet for a reward. My males are never carded. They flare for about 30 mins in the am. Then they chill for the day, just before fedding they flare again most times walter doesn't any more, but he is almost 3. I also have bettas in with guppy fish. They eat the fry. Those that get fry have better color in my fish room. I love your fish.
My moms sometimes feed my fish with tweezers bc its feeds off bloodworms
Btw what a beautiful gorgeous stunning fish!!❤ 🩷🧡💛💚🩵💙💜🖤🩶🤍🤎💖 🌈🦄
These shiny pearls the fish might've gotten from eating moss on those rice paddies. Same thing happens to flowerhorn when you put fries in a small pond setup with lots of moss. You fish them out after a few months and their scales are shiny as hell.
Oh he is stunning
Can you make a video about selective breeding that would be pretty cool
Estes Bettas são simplesmente belíssimos meu nobre amigo . Parabéns que Deus te abençoe sempre . Em nome de Jesus ...
I do it like a total of 1 hour to 1.5 hours a day, but like 8-10 times, is that ok? I mean, I play with him 8-10 times a day, like 10-15 minutes each time.
I do it because I always see him floating like he's deas or laying on top of a deco, like he's sick, so I get worried and get him to move. He seems to get bored. As soon as I get close to his 2.5g tank, he gets active and with energy, and follows me, swims with my face or finger, swims left and right, up and down. So cute.
Saya suka!your info!!
Dang you got a sick betta
Please show us videos of the wild bettas you caught in the aquarium set up.
Fish room tour !
lets take a moment to appreciate his betta
Amazing
Would also like to see what you feed them
I'm in Bangkok.... I want some of those bettas. I'm going to out some in my ponds too
Edit' beautiful channel

I have mine in a 3.5 gal n a 2.5gl n my female is in a 55gal n the 2 males have fin rot..i do 50% water changes every week n clean the spomge filter inbetween the water changes ..i put half an almond leaf in both small tanks..i have a water softener n thsts the water i use..i tried the salt for a few weks n nothing seems to help. So please do one on fin rot..thanks for sharing..all my takes are sand bottoms with many plants
That is such a pretty fish! And i thought my betta fish was pretty 😐
So beautiful 👌👌👌❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Is that 20 mins in a single episode? Or break it up in small time increments
Hi, may I know what camera and lens you use to take the video?
For what I know is this is a bellica fighting fish . This is from my country Malaysia . But bigger
Hi recently got an wild male and he isnt flaring up to anything what can I do to get him to start flaring any tip will be greatfull
I have an alien betta pair & the male is a dull color any help & he doesn't flare no more .
Which is Better? "Indoor" or OutDoor Which Do you prefer?
I have a double tail betta that doesn't flare at all he just watched the pen curiously and then swims away. What should I do?
Are those colors for real no editing..?
Can you do a Betta breeding tutorial
Can you make a video about Giant Bettas, how that breed was made and if you can find them in the wild?
True Giant Bettas are propably the least natural bettas in existence. They are the result of EXTREMELY intensive inbreeding with unpredictable results. They are the same species as the rest of domestic bettas with an expression of an extremely rare gene that makes them huge. They also tend to have weak immune systems.
On the brightside, the gene seems to make them extremely mellow and non-fish aggressive... of course thier health is a huge price to pay for that. They would *NEVER* survive long in the wild.
Where did you get your wild type betta?
So I couldn't find much other videos than this one to teach a Betta fish to flare. But what if my Betta fish doesn't flare at a mirror? I've tried putting another Betta beside him (through a video, not an actual Betta) and a mirror and all he did was stare at it, but nothing else. No gills flaring up, no fins opening. Even th Betta floating mirror didn't work. I need advice.
This is the most beautiful betta i have ever seen. Can someone let me know the name of it's species?
Hybrid betta = B. sp. Mahachai
@@brokental219 oh damn, Thankyou! I wonder if my country have any supplier selling them.
This is Betta Smaragdina Guitar.
What if my fish doesn’t flare even with a mirror? He still chases my finger around because I usually feed him with my finger
Help?
My betta suddenly spreads his fins widely and he isn't even flaring, just swimming around usually, but now, he spreads his fins widely, unlike before.
What type of betta fish is that
Mine doesn’t flare at all. He’s really shy. He just hides hahaha. How do I get him to flare and boost his confidence?
“The fish she tells you to not worry about”
Can I break those 20 minutes of flaring on a day into 4 minutes X 5 by giving gaps
Like certo! 🙏👏👏👏
This work for my mahachai and alien and imbell but not imbell hybrid alien
Should one wait for their betta fish to settle into their homes first before having them exercise through flaring? Are bubble nests an indication that the betta has settled?
Yes definately as flaring can cause some stress
I recently purchased an alien betta and I had a question. How do I tell the difference between male and female? I've looked at different examples of males and females and they have features that seem to be similar to both genders. Is there any defining trait I can use to definitely tell the difference?
put a mirror in front of it if it flares then it is a male
How do you order Bettas?
Which colour is this ???
Can you export betta to india
fesh name.....???
Any advice of bringing on betta fry if you don't have access to live foods? I only have walter worms... Other than that frozen or dry foods
You can use meat. They like it more than pellets and it makes them happy.
@@user-uh7vn2ut3e what kind of meat?
@@zyzla87 the same meat that you eat for food It can be chicken, pork or beef. He prefers raw meat over cooked meat. Make the meat into small threads, about 1 centimeter in length, it would be better for him to eat.
@@zyzla87 I used to raise wild and fighting betta fish for stakes. I take care of them like this every day. And you should add a little salt to the water to keep your betta from getting sick.
Hi Frank,
I recently got a new Betta Alien. I started this method with a pen and he started flaring right away. But now, after a week my betta stopped flaring. Instead he hides aways as soon as I show the pen. Is my betta sick? Or is he jsut shy?
I would be thankful for a response.
There might be loud noises and vibrations that would frighten him.
dat alien😎
Make a video with two mails togather in the same tank until one runs.
Are those blood line bettas
Can you still teach it to a 7 year old king koi betta?
I will try to teach him but slowly
Yes! Bettas tend to be pretty receptive learners for thier entire life. He might have less natural aggression and less of an urge to flare though. Koi Bettas tend to be a quite bit less fish aggressive than other domestics. Older Bettas also tend to be less likely to flare. A old koi betta is typically one of the most relaxed domestic bettas around, so the hard part is probably getting him to flare in the first place not the training part.
I tried showing himavideo
What's this betta name?
งดงามยิ่งนัก
Frank, my betta flares at his reflection in the sides of the aquarium? How to stop it?
555 Block or celocate
Can send some to India ?
Great video! I'm new to betta fish. Could someone tell me what type of betta is in this vid pls?

@@Franksbettas But both species look the same bro. Could you please clarify their distinction?

What do I do if my betta isn't flaring???
He wouldn't flare at anything at all. Not even to a mirror.
His name is Sky and please please PLEASE help me,
I've had him for 6 months now and I REALLY want to train him.
Contact me if you have any advice for a lazy betta.
But he does react to the container of food.
Whenever I bring it out and pretend to unscrew the cap,
he comes to the front of the tank and tries to jump out.
And he sees the food in my hand and looks up to my hand when I feed him
@@Sky-bc7zv Uh.. your betta sounds like he's just might be mild mannered. Also check his water conditions and overall health. If he is indeed genetically inclined to be mild mannered than it will be *much harder* to make him flare. Certian showlines have a higher chance of producing such betta fish. Out of curiosity, what kind of betta is Sky? He's definitely human social. The deliberate eye contact is a great sign of that.
@@kidwolf0015 Thanks but you're kinda late, he died 2 months ago of age and got a new one and he is flaring so that's good
good evening sir plss choose me for the give away thank you ireally love betta fish.
