Ive got the Flight tus-35 in d blue. Has a great sound. Sounds like a small guitar - its that boomy. Also have an Acacia. The tus-35 is made to last. Will be a reliable uke over the years.

Hi Ms B - I just bought the Flight travel in dark blue - I have been looking at travel ukes for camping season - which is sneaking up on us 😳 my choices that I reviewed where the Waterman, Flight, Outdoor uke ( which I highly considered but it was pricey) and the Flea (really $$$) so I went with the Flight - can’t wait for it to get here and hope I made the right choice 😁

What are your thought about this ukulele for a 6 year old first time beginner? I would think that the plastic parts would help make it a little more survivable in the hands of a child but I am worried about the rounded back when trying to teach them how to hold and play it. I know when Ovation guitars first hit the market with their unique round back, I found them very hard to play as I was always chasing it on my belly. I have a unique set of wash board abs that are soft, large and round! What are your thought with this in mind. The ukulele For a kid not my pot belly.
Yes the dolphins are nice, but you also have an all plastic uke from makala ( I think. I’m not sure) called the water man. Barry from gotaukukele (arguably the best ukulele review channel ) gave it its approval. And as far as I know, that guy is not biased, is very harshly telling his opinion and will not be bought for ransom or whatever.
Awesome video! Your unboxing and reviewing videos are my favourite 😍🤓 Saying that, I do have some questions for youuu... (which I've wanted to ask for all the unboxing videos but I was too shy) -
How does the ukulele feel to touch? Matte? Gloss? Rough? Varnish? Chalky/Scrapey? Grainy/Bumpy? Smooth/Sleek? How does each part (headstock, tuning peg, neck, fretboard, body back/sides, soundboard) actually feel? Does the ukulele feel heavy/light? Is it balanced and/or weighted? 😬
I know this all probably sounds ridiculously pedantic and kinda weird but touch is an important thing to me. I'm a very tactile person (not with people though) and I like to feel things in terms of their quality and service - ideally the balance of aesthetics:function is equal 😅
It's also a mental thing; if I don't like the touch of something (e.g. chalky items make me queasy and the instinctive need to destroy them arises) then I don't want to buy it - my point being that there are little/no ukuleles in the instrument shops near me (they're grossly overpriced anyway) but buying one online is difficult without knowing how it feels... I just want to make an informed decision! 😱

Hi! I purchased this travel uke this week, I had some points on Amazon to use and have kind of been wanting one of these for a while. I wanted to purchase it from the Flight website but they were out of stock. The uke is exactly what I thought it would be -it's fantastic. I'm really disappointed with the gig bag however. The gig bag they gave me has the Flight logo, but it is very cheap, very thin, no padding at all and looks nothing like the gig bag that yours came with. And that's probably because mine came from Amazon instead of Flight. I still got a good deal so I can't complain too much, however I am going to go to the Bondi website now and purchase a better gig bag LOL. Oh well more excuses for shopping! 😂😂 just wanted to comment on here in case anyone else is shopping for the travel Uke. I would definitely order through Flight instead of Amazon!
And to add: it was higher priced on Amazon compared to Flight!

Bernadette Teaches Music Hey Bernadette, That’s good you researched it that’s what I did. It dose what you said help get a playable action!! It was used a lot on Low end instruments and a fast way to adjust a lot of guitar like maybe mass production!! It would cost less than making and adjusting nuts. It was used on some other instruments not just guitar. Some instruments would be hard to adjust with a nut because the way they were made!! I have played instruments with it on them and they played fine most of the time. I don’t think maybe your students may need to know everything I said but that mostly what I know about the 0 fret. The bad thing is there is no way to adjust a 0 fret. If your action got high a nut can be adjusted and that could help to make it playable. I hope I don’t sound like a know it all because I sure don’t know it all!!!!! Hope you have a nice visit !!!!!!))) P.S Did I get this black heart for some reason at the end of your comment!!

Based on your enthusiastic review and the attraction of a slightly wider neck I decided to purchase one of these (Red). The price for me on Amazon in the UK was £34.99 ( ~ $46), which despite my reservations I still think is a good buy.
I like the look and the sound of this Uke however I do have a few things to pick on which to me reduces its attraction.
1. neck width at the nut is barely wider than my Kala and Fender Ukes (34 mm), at a push I'd say it's 35mm, so this was disappointing.
2. the 1st and 4th strings are just a fraction too close to the edge of the neck which at the moment I'm finding a bit awkward. Unfortunately because the nut and neck are one mold , there is no possibility of replacing the nut with a more comfortable string spacing.
3. the faux wood grain effect on the neck makes it feel really rough, not a nice feel at all.
4. and finally it is heavy, relatively speaking, to my all wood Ukes. It was a bit of a shock when I first lifted it out of its box.
Overall I'm still happy to add this to my collection.

Luisa I will spend some more time with the setup, but it most likely is like the Enya ukuleles. The strings are put through the inside of the ukulele. They’re tied to a washer. I’ll let you know in next week’s video. Good question :)

I do believe the big voice is due to the arch back , and if I’m correct, the back has no bracing right? just molded into its shape? I have taken a liking to your videos, and as I grow through music I begin to watch more and more tutorials that continue to teach me new musical skills for the ukulele. My whole life I have loved music, starting from the young age of 8 when I began to learn violin. Because of this, I would like to become a music teacher or possibly take music as a future career. But I would love to know what it takes to teach music, and how you make it so enjoyable and exciting. It would mean a lot if I could just get a few tips and pieces of advice for the near future, so hopefully the role of music will continue to grow in my life.

Nice unboxing! I have just been on the flight Homepage. These Ukuleles are actually pretty cheap. I did not expect that, to be honest. I'm kind of tempted.. They've got them in really cool colours too and shipping is free in Europe. It would be pretty cool if they had strap buttons - eventhough you dont really need them on sopranos :p

I got a Mitchell MU5OSE sale for 4th of July at guitar center. Instead of it costing $100, I got it for $80!!! It has a pickup AND a built in tuner, so that’s a crazy good deal! I recommend it if you want an electric uke. For it I got a really nice fender amplifier for cheap along with a cable and a cleaning cloth for it. It’s on amazon prime so it’ll be here tomorrow! I’m sooo excited!
A soprano shouldn't necessarily have a narrower neck than a concert or a tenor. My soprano has a 35 mm nut width, whereas I have a concert and a tenor that are 33 mm. All three are Lunas of the same model (Vintage Mahogany) My Cordoba concert is 35 mm and my Enya tenor is a whopping 38mm!
Yes, you're absolutely right :) some people are concerned about buying a soprano because they're afraid that it will be too small for them. This ukulele has a lot of space, which is great news ☺️

Hmm... I'm wondering if the buzzing will go away if you reposition the capo. Try to change its position on the fret

I bought and learned to play the ukulele (usually played guitar) *for* travelling, so I find it funny to actually see travel ukuleles 😂 Even a Baritone is so much easier to transport than a guitar. However, I took a tenor because otherwise the frets are just too small for me. You may imagine that from a soprano ukulele to a bass guitar... it's quite a difference 😂 I like my low G to sound nice and big.
yes, I like the sound of a low G as well. It would be difficult to choose a favorite :)
I fly all the time with my concert Kala travel uke. I usually travel with both a suit bag and small sling backpack as carryons, in addition to my uke. Occasionally I'll get a super grumpy gate agent who wants to force me to gate check one of them, but usually in a pinch I can just tuck the uke into the suit bag until I'm on the plane, when I find creative ways to hide it from the attendants if it sticks out slightly. (In an emergency the uke would break long before someone could trip and fall, so I don't generally feel bad about that.)

Bernadette Teaches Music Oh, never. The concert neck does, however, slightly protrude into my own foot space. Typically I'll place it so the bouts of the body are towards the front right corner of the seat in front of me and the head sticks out towards my left foot. Between the longer neck and the fact that I'm 6'2" this usually has the head resting over part of my foot, which can freak out the attendants. The easiest way to hide this is to simply drape a scarf, blanket, or jacket across my left leg or my lap for takeoff and landing. To be fair, I really only have this problem on older planes or on planes that have had smaller seats installed. Some planes leave more than enough room for my uke underneath the seat.
I know you mentioned flying with the Bondi uke vertically behind your shoulder, but even at only 210 lbs I tend to fill the seat a bit too much.
Another way I've flown with the uke is actually to just leave it head down between my legs. Again, with something on my lap they can't see the body and I'll often wrap my away-from-the-aisle leg around the neck a bit to make it harder to spot the bag's shape.
It also might be worth pointing out that for the 40-50 trips I've taken my uke on the plane I've always had a black gig bag, not a colored one. It has always been a concert size, though. I expect that you should have no problems whatsoever with the soprano. It'll probably fit underneath on just about any plane you could ever take.
Ah, yeah. I only put mine behind me for the part where the flight attendants check under the seats. After that I had it in the floor in front of me. It fit nicely but I was afraid they'd ask me to throw it on top.

Yeah, for the tall part I blame my parents. For the flying part it's mostly just time. I have 5-ish trips a year, mostly for work, which is 10 flights. Over five years or so it adds up! I never travel without my uke. Sometimes I joke, "sound of uke, sound of mind."
My sincere hope is that I won’t be reading how a 6’2”, 210 pound man was arrested for not complying with a flight attendant 👩✈️If a flight attendant asks you to do something, you should be very respectful and comply with them as best as you can. I show them the greatest respect as I know how easy I could get into trouble. There are very good reasons they don’t want items in your lap, by your side, or in the isles. I’ll give you credit where credit is due as you touched on a few of those items.

What was it that was so different as you expected? :-) Congrats to this nice travel uke.
Merja the back of the ukulele is made of plastic, but the plastic is texturized to look like wood. That surprised me :)
You will see, its still slippery because of the body shape. I did add a strap that has a magnet-holding (so I didnt need drilled holes in the plastic body).

you should the carry-on size dimensions with your airlines. The Flight travel uke was smaller than the dimensions required from my airline.
Mine dosent play barre chords very well.... it’s good for everything else...
