- It's time for an annual Evo 9 update video! Today's video is a chill garage walkaround of the Evo and what's been done over the last year. I go over the JDM mods, maintenance, costs, and my current thoughts on the car. I hope my Evo people enjoy!
This year marks 10 years of ownership with my Mitsubishi Evo IX! This car brings me an equal amount of happiness and stress, but I love it regardless. Over the last year I've installed a few JDM mods and OEM refresh parts on the car to breathe some life into it. The Evo 9 JDM HID headlights has easily been one of my favorite mods, so I talk about the tips for install, and the differences between OEM and JDM. The Evo 9 JDM MIVEC Valve cover was also installed and I go over the differences on that as well (since nobody talks about it).
My main goal with this car has changed over the years. From wanting to mod everything in my younger days, to now trying to preserve a tasteful OEM+ car. My biggest complaint is simply not having enough time to drive it nowadays. It's too fun of a car to sit in traffic with it, so I try to find time to enjoy it on my free weekends (which is almost never). I have no plans to get rid of this car, so I'll continue to do some OEM refresh parts on it and some tasteful mods in the future!
This isn't an exciting video by any means. but I know there's a handful of fellow Evo owners that will appreciate it!

@@sonicallstarifylow mileage evos are already hitting 60k$+ get one while you can before it’s too late. A evo 9 five speed with let’s say 80k miles easily sell for 24k it’s wild
If only people could see this car in person. The camera does not do the Graphite Grey paint on our car the justice it deserves. Car looks better than it did when it came off the show room floor.

Congratulations on the no emissions in your area/county. Back east here in NC I’m praying and patiently waiting for that to happen as well. It’s getting old swapping the cat and test pipe every yr and the “limitation” on power mods due to emission testing. Love the whip, I own a 06 red EVO IX, stay safe homie

I love that you’re trying to keep it somewhat stock and true to its original concept. I am trying to do the same to my Evo X. Good tasteful mods, some from Mitsubishi from MR and FE editions and some jdm parts. I’m located in Washington.

Timing belt kit is like 1k and labor is around $700 from what I got quoted last week. Yeah it’s getting expensive but I don’t mind it. It’s one of my dream cars.
If you can get all the timing belt parts separately by finding deals you could save a couple hundred. But yea your basically on point with the labor
@@quhectic221st so what makes the timing job almost as expensive as a clutch job. I got quoted $750 for labor on the clutch job. I’ve heard nightmares on clutch jobs so I rather just pay to sit on my couch while they work on my car lol. Friggin TOB popped out of the clutch on my car fml.

I can sympathize with you on parts being discontinued and maintenance becoming more expensive. Recently had to spend over a grand in maintenance for custom fabrication because Subaru of all companies has discontinued some parts for the 04-07 STI's.

I'm starting to understand how a DSM owner feels like with wanting to hoarde all these parts now before they become scarce. OEM water pump prices are kinda ridiculous now, not looking forward to my next timing belt job lol.

I just bought a 2003 Evo with a blown engine. Stocking up on parts. I have close to $10k in spare parts. I learned from the Integra Type R parts that quickly started being discontinued.
My new-to-me Evo has 212K, too. Likely needs lots of maintenance. Ugh!

Can any one explain why aluminum knobs just get dinged up? I noticed pretty much all aged aluminum knobs from all males get all cracked and stuff. Is it cause salty sweat?
