Thanks for watching. I’ve been meaning to get back to that Model 4. I meant to put some Kroil on it and let it sit for a couple days… It’s been over a year.
Hey Scott, current student here. On Week 6/8 right now for the Intro course. Thanks for the upload, good for preparation of the final project. Wish me luck! Very informative, in my eyes (for what it's worth). Be safe out there!
Good luck! The classes are like everything else worth doing in life, you get out of them what you put into them. Keep your eye on the prize and remember to HAVE FUN!
Hey Scott. I looks like you were able to take all the firearms building courses, how did you accomplish this? I asked SDI to sign me up for all of them but they said they could not. Did you sign up individually over time? Excellent videos as always. Thank you for your assistance!
Yeah, they don’t offer them individually unfortunately. You have to do the whole program. I did the associates in firearms technology but they also offer a firearms certificate program I think.
I have a 7400 in 30-06. The only difference between yours and mine is the rear stock. Mine does not have the Monte Carlo. These guns are known to have the POI change. The forearm screw tension will affect the POI. My gun like when the screw is just snug. After a few shots, the screw become loose. I added a split washer like yours. Hope it will stay put. I have a load that can print 3/4" with my gun.
I haven’t developed a load for mine yet. It’s more of a safe Queen at the moment. But my dad had a good load for it and he said that adding the washer really helped tighten up his groups quite a bit. I’ll probably end up replacing it with a regular steel washer and blue it to match the rest of the gun. Thanks for watching.
I think it’s funny how it never caught on despite being a solid performer. Then PO Ackley comes along and blows it out and changes the shoulder angle to 40 degrees and and made the 280 AI. But even as outstanding as THAT cartridge is, it sat for close to 50 years until Nosler finally got SAAMI approval for it and started marketing it. Now we have a beast of a cartridge that hardly anybody knows about. It seems to be starting to catch on though.
In 740/742/7400 there are so many moving parts with the action, oil looses its effectiveness quickly even with rifle just sitting. Grease clings to these moving parts keeping them lubricated. Oil also collects much dirt and grime. Do a little research, widely recommended to use grease.
I’m only in my second semester but so far I am enjoying it. I’ll be posting more videos as assignments come up, so you might be able to get a good idea of what to expect.
my friend, you really need to learn how to completely and fully disassemble the rifle and be able to put it back together in a minimum of 15-20 min! You did alright but i would suggest you do it until you can reassemble it without having to think about and, and learn the tricks and which if any pins are tapered and which way to drive them out.
I see your point and agree wholeheartedly. However that particular rifle doesn’t get used much. It’s more of a family collector type rifle that I like to keep around. Honestly after I cleaned and lubed it up in this video it will likely sit in the safe until the next time I dig it out, clean and lube and put it back. Thanks for watching.
@@Kimaracustoms It’s a hobby that has turned into something I may want to get into as a side job someday. For now I just like taking a gun all apart to see how it works and then putting it back together. Learning about systems I’m not yet familiar with. That’s why I chose this Model FOUR for my assignment. Nobody needs or wants another speedrun video of a guy stripping an AR at this point anyway.
@@scottbozarth8459 My favorite shotgun as far as function goes is a browning citori, If you get a chance or have not already, it is an amazing shotgun !
I need to revisit this rifle. It’s just been sitting in the safe since this video. I did apply some Kroil to that stubborn pin. Hopefully 8 months or however long it’s been is long enough for it to loosen it up. Haha
I couldn't get that bolt pin out on my 7400 - 270 cal either. Great content.

I start next month super excited... Great video.
Good luck to you! I can honestly say I’m learning a lot and having fun with it. I’m sure you will too.
That’s what I like to hear. Which course are you taking? I am going to be doing the certification course
@@scottbozarth8459 just curious what are you using to record your video and how is it mounted?
@@JohnRando904 I am doing the associates of firearm technology program.
@@JohnRando904 it’s just a run of the mill iPhone 13 mounted on a cheap-o articulating arm I got off Amazon. Nothing fancy.
the 280 was called the 7mm rem express because they were trying to attract more european purchasers.

Should use grease not oil for lubricant.
Hi, thanks for watching. What makes you say grease is a better lubricant than oil?

Reassembling the rod and spring is a real pain, bad design.
