You could make the “medallion” into a lens cap holder… so you never lose it. I’m not sure how you could make it stay, maybe utilize the clips that are already on the cap? Idk… it’s pretty cool and you could definitely make use of it for more than just joining the links. A few more options would be: a base to add a pouch for lens cleaner, a spot to hold an Apple AirTag or something similar to find your camera if you lose it or get it taken, or maybe a little slot dispenser for ND filters or something similar… It just seems like the perfect spot to have quick access to small items you might need while shooting.
Wow that was awesome: Great storytelling Kept my attention Easy enough to understand Brought me along for the adventure I wish I could be like you! (I got time constraints cuz of school and other stuff)
looks amazing honestly, i might waanna print this later for a small backpack that i have i would have made some snap in ( or glued) parts inside the strap, and then printed a long rectangular tpu piece that snaps on the inside, making it foam like and more comfortable to use, maybe make it connect every 5/6 connections so it bends apropiately, but it does look good this way!
Love the idea of using TPU. That’s not a material I have a lot of experience with . . . maybe it’s time I give it a shot!! Thanks for the view and the comment!
Something I noticed that I may have done: I would not have actually made the medallion round. i would have trimmed it down to match the width of the tread portion. it would make it a little more cohesive, comfortable, and saved on material while still affording you the functionality that you designed into it. all in all that is awesome. Maybe you could also make it a modular system. instead of having the pivot rod in between each "tread" go all the way through just have it be a tab on either side allowing you to snap the next tread into place. this allows for more sections and slightly better printability. you dont have to worry too much about the strength at that point because the actual stress is not on the print itself with the paracord taking most of the load.
@@TheFaithfullMaker Hey! All excellent suggestions. I agree making the medallion strait would be more cohesive and functional. Having the individual links snap together is also brilliant! Great ideas for the next revision. This is why I love posting my stuff - the community suggestions are awesome. Cheers! Thanks for the comment.
@@pearigeeyou can make the medallion as your lens cover holder. I remember buying a lens cover holder for my camera strap, and this made me think of it. This way your medallion can function as another accessory!
The pinch points worry me a tad. As for knots, you want to do a sliding knot at the end. Either join both ends to each other with double fishermans, so you can slide them apart to shorten/tighten the strap (this is how some wristbands are made) Or loop the ends back on themselves and tie a prusik knot that you can slide up and down to make the strap tighter.
@@liammurray9274 Thank you so much for the thoughts and knot advice!!! Really appreciate the suggestions!! The pinching is actually something I thought a lot about. All of the surfaces are rounded (to avoid any sharp pinching areas) and the joints are spaced in such a way that even at full bend they leave a few millimeters of distance between them. I was also concerned about the joints ripping out arm hair, haha, that is why I opted for the central cylindrical axle. That allows the body of the chain to mostly cover the opening and reduce the risk of something getting caught in there. More iteration could probably improve the comfort further though. :) Thanks again for the comment and view!
@@liammurray9274 I will experiment with the knots you suggested this week. If they work well I will update the MakerWorld/RUclips description with your recommendation and credit you!!
I just finished trying these knots. The double fisherman's is perfect! Thanks for the recommendation. I updated the video description and MakerWorld documentation to recommend this strategy.
“Well, here we are…”. BORN TO BE KINGS! Were the princes of the universe!
the medallion looks nice! The size make it look more impresive.
Great project!
Thanks!

@@pearigee What an awesome make!!! my first thought was "why wasn't it TPU" since all the strength and security is covered by the paracord?

i though the whole idea was to use the medallion to clip de lens cover.
Haha, that’s an interesting idea!
