I’m a life long Tekken fan. I recognized Kazuya the moment he threw Ganondorf off of the cliff. It’s a call back to Kazuya throwing his own father Heihachi Mishima off the cliff in the first Tekken game. This is awesome!😊🔥🤘🏾
I never played tekken, and i recognized it too (probably because of watching a top 10 video of bad fathers in video games)

If Wreck-It Ralph doesn't appear as the last DLC fighter I don't mind having a Wreck-It Ralph costume for a Mii fighter there is two more characters who should be a last DLC fighter first one is Crash Bandicoot or second one is classic sonic those are my choices.

It really sucks that Tekken has been around for years, yet only some people recognize and appreciate it.

Yeah, they should really look up his history/lore. Total badass, and easily the best Mishima in my opinion.

I gotta admit, it's been years since i last played Tekken. But the moment i saw the cliff and the volcano, i immediatly knew it was him.
I never cared for tekken but I defenetly knew about the franchise
Hate how some smash fan would think Kazuya is another "shoto" chracter. Which is totally wrong since shoto is a street fighter thing. Kazuya is a Mishima archetype. The Mishimas specializes the ewgf, spinning demon kick and the crouch dash. People should really learned thier gaming history and lore.
RIP to all the gamers that never got to see this moment of gaming history. Respect.

Kazuya is definitely a welcome addition to smash. Namco needed a rep and Tekken is the perfect choice. Plus it’s cool to see another villain added to the roster.

I wouldn't say Kazuya's the villain ..... Feels like every Mishima character gets their turn to be the protagonist/antagonist throughout the franchise. That aside, I totally agree, awesome addition.

I was like that as a kid. I only liked a few Nintendo series. Smash introduced me to other game series. Now I play Mario, Pokemon, Street Fighter, Tekken, Wario Land/Ware, Splatoon, King of Fighters, Yoshi, Star Fox, Overwatch, Legend of Zelda, Kirby, Donkey Kong, Soul Calibur, Halo, Crash Bandicoot, Shantae, Bayonetta, Final Fantasy, and Digimon.
Games series I will be trying out: Metroid, Mortal Kombat, and Shinigami Tensei.

I'm actually very surprised how many didn't recognize that someone being carried to a volcano is Tekken.
It wasn't until they say Kazuya's glowing eye when they found out it's Tekken.

I recognized it from the music. That theme has been stuck in my head since Tekken 4 when it was used in one of the Tekken Force stages.
From what i commonly see, it was either his eye or the volcano. I recognized him from the music choice used. I loved Kazuya's theme ever since Tekken 2.
I just recognized him because of the soundtrack playing in the background.

Yeah my dream characters are Crash and Dr. Eggman but at the end of the day, we can’t change who gets added to Smash. We should just be thankful that Sakurai is working hard to give us new characters. And Tekken definitely deserves a rep.
I know what you mean, you know this could be the last smash ever or at least one directed by Sakurai, he looks tired of developing the games so who knows if he will continue with franchise and even if there'd be another smash in the future nobody knows if he'd be the director so even if the character I want wont be added I'd be glad with any character he will dedide to add

There were no Bamco reps added to Ultimate's base roster or DLC until Kazuya. Pac-Man was announced for Smash 4 all the way back in E3 2014

@@ogun4921 I can cut M2K some slack because he actually gives the characters' games a fair chance. When Seph was announced, he played through FF7. He played through Xenoblade 2 a while back and a few days ago tried out Tekken 7.

Absolutely, when the character was revealed it was 1:30 AM and I yelled, I didn't buy any of the DLC characters but him, it was a very welcome surprise
It's not so much that Tekken "earned a spot" in Smash, it's more like Tekken took time out of its day to bother with coming to Smash.

Some people didn't play the first tekken game, I only played 5 and 7 so for me it was also a surprise up until they came down with the "Get ready for the next battle"
Tekken is the OG 3D fighting game. This is awesome.
That would be Virtua Fighter, and Tekken was made by some of the same people behind Virtua Fighter.
Well the first 3D fighter was a 3D boxing game that came out before Virtua Fighter and maybe a while before Tekken. I dont know the name of the game but you can look at a video called "Why Virtua Fighter is more important than tekken" by Virtua Bros to see a snapshot of it in the video.

Fortunately lava doesn't kill you in the Smash universe. You just bounce out of it in searing hot pain.
In some defense in how some say Heihachi should be the chosen character, you must remember that his japanese voice actor died not long ago and when that happens in the media they often chose to not include them in upcoming projects, yes excepctions happen like with Bulma on Dragon Ball Super Broly
Another example in smash would be the Colonal for the snake codec talks for fighters, they didn't include new ones in ultimate cause the JP VA passed away
This the second time that Heihachi's voice actor dies though. Heck he only voiced him in 2 games.
Even more heck, the one that recently died was his 4th voice actor.

I don't understand why people are disappointed and don't understand why this doesn't work. Tekken is Japanese made game, Mario Japanese, their guest characters in Smash are mostly Japanese gaming companies, Tekken is an OG fighting game! Makes perfect sense to me. I'm happy even if I'm not a good and active Smash player. This is lit!

It was a cool presentation. But for me, the entrance of Sephiroth, was the best cinematic, presentation and the biggest Tsunami world wild in that game. No one expected him to join the battle.
And I would say that Sephiroth is my best and strongest bad guy in a video game. Anyway everyone has there own opinion and I respect that.

Realized some people are disappointed for a variety of reasons. At least it’s something everyone will agree that it’s not another sword/fire emblem character. Shit if it was me I would’ve loved to see a soul Calibur character too. I know it won’t happen but it would be funny to see other’s reactions. Anywho I’m really happy that a character I know and love is added into the game. I’ll definitely be getting back into smash now >:D

Emotionless Passion is burned into my brain. I woke up and first thing I saw was the direct, and right when I heard the first second of chanting and the drums kick in I knew. The intro is unmistakable
