I did this with my dog at Crufts really recommend it makes your dog fitter
and your dog learns to really listen but with big dogs like great Danes don't because the tunnels are too small

A good tip is to integrate hand signals with all instructions, dogs should be able to interpret your commands from sight as well as sound.

Sarah Bolton Yea, that's what I was thinking. Very good dog, but the owner could use a bit of work. Not bad though, just a little more training could make them an exceptional pair
Yeah, his energy was pretty mixed up in general. I think he was either nervous about the crowd or too invested in what the crowd thought of him? I dunno. Just a feeling.
Is the course the same all the time? Does the owner have to memorize it once? or do they change up the pattern? Mine just started learning and has done 3 (1 hour) sessions. We had our first little competition last night at she won. (off leash). How we did it was just pick what we want and each item was different points. But we could pick the course as we wanted. I'm curious about real competition like this?
+Ron Kramer For each group the course is the same. They have diffrent classes that have diffrent opsticals in them. Yes, you do have to memorize it. However once the course is up you can walk as many times you like in a set time before they start. They also offer a paper version as well.

This is regionals. Therefor, it is actual agility. I'd like to see your dog run at regional championships? These dogs are pulled from Cynosport USDAA Nationals, AKC Nationals, CPE Nationals, AKC International Team Tryouts, and NADAC Nationals. A select few get to run upon request. You don't get much better than that.

So, what do these dogs do when they are not doing agility? Tear up the whole house? I love the concept, but prefer a well rounded dog, as opposed to using them for competition and entertainment. Just my opinion. The dogs in this particular agility competition, and others I have seen seem so possessive to their owners like "let me run this course or else!" The border collie, who happened to have the best run in this video, was by far the most well-behaved.
Actually it's the opposite. Agility is great for dog who have a lot of energy, it helps them channel it and really help them with being attentive to their owners. I started with my dog because she gets inattentive every time something around her happens and she has greatly improved. I see more change then when we were doing obedience...
+rapso5 Your dog must know obedience before it can respond to cues. In my comment I was referring specifically to the dogs in this video that are barking at their owners.
My agility dogs will sleep the whole day when it's time to train or compete they have both brains and drive.
I have an agility dog who is also a working sheep dog. She can also come and cuddle with you at night, despite how energetic she is. It all depends on what kind of dog you get and how much energy is being burned a day.

Just a Collie, not a Border Collie, but close to it in terms of intelligence and agility. Border Collies aren't eligible for "small dog" competitions.
