I have one of the original edition decks and man oh man, the Tarot of the Holy Spectrum is a wonder. I'm still amazed that more people aren't talking about it. The colour scheme is punchy, yet not overwhelming. The line art is rich with imagery that draws your eyes to so many different places, but at the same time it doesn't get in your way when reading purely intuitively. At first I thought the lack of a guidebook was a cheap way to get out of the work and expense necessary to produce even a basic-level LWB for the deck, but it truly is one of those rare tarot decks that is best enjoyed without a guidebook. The deck invites you to read it more from pure, raw intution like an oracle, even though you could just as easily read it like an RWS. It really is one of my favorite indie decks, alongside The Spacious Tarot. You're an incredibly lucky person for someone to have given you such an incredible deck (and you totally deserve it of course!). Oh, and happy belated birthday!
A very special deck indeed. I think this is the best graphic novel type tarot I have seen. I adore the different perspectives...I think this has a power for shadow work as well. The contrast between the plain black backs and the vivid colours is extraordinary.
