Haven't seen a 5.4 with the oil filter right next to the oil pan. My 2001 has it sideways right above the front differential. My brother's 98 it's right behind the front bumper on the driver's side.
@@keegenm.6154, yeah, and you can barely fit an oil filter wrench to get it loose. It's also tricky to get the new one to catch the threads on the engine.
Just sold my 2018 Silverado and bought a 98 F150 4.6l 4x4 exact same color as yours the body on your truck is in insane shape. Mine will be getting patch panels and repaint soon... but I paid 2500 for it. So not bitching..
Regarding the plug being rough coming out in the beginning, don’t really worry about it. I work on cars and doing oil changes, over half of all fords from this era just don’t want the plug to come out. I’ve never seen that be a culprit of a leak but it just makes a mess when you take it out since oil starts to drain as soon as it’s remotely loose
I really don't like ford but I love the 10th gen. Amazingly reliable and I have fond memories with my uncle and me just enjoying life going around town having fun in that truck.
I used to hate them, but the appearance has kind of grown on me. I'd definitely drive one because the 4.6/5.4 2 valve are amazing engines but it wouldn't be my first choice. Unfortunately a lot of them, like a lot of good trucks, ended up with these types of people that beat on them, or high school kids and they've all been ragged out.
@@PathwayPrivate I loved mine. Grandpa passed away and my grandma kept it and gave it to me when i turned 16. drove it till i was 20. 2 years into my army contract, i walk out of my barracks one day and find it on bricks. someone stole the tires, wheels, and my bumper. in the process, they jacked it up by the drive shaft, causing it to snap. had to scrap it as i didnt have the money to fix it up and i already had a newer truck that was more practical. still miss it though.
What color is used oil supposed to be just curious? I always thought black was the right color and an ok condition but then Ido not drive I just watch these for fun.
If you go buy a bottle of Lucas Oil Stabilizer, The Super Thick Stuff. Add it in and in about 1000 miles of driving it will seal the rings and valve seals and won't use another drop.
