The technical difference between Marimba and Xylophone is actually that Marimba bars are tuned with (double)octave overtones and Xylophone bars are tuned with 2nd quint overtones. This is the main difference in the sound characteristics of the two mallet percussion instruments. Vibraphones are tuned with octave overtones like the Marimba and the Glockenspiel usually has no overtone tuning as the instrument is already so high in frequency that these overtones would not really be audible or make any audible difference.
Cool video. Beautiful to hear these instruments. Do you recommend any home sizer or travel size version of mallet instruments? I'd like to play music at the lake in the summers.
"Listen really carefully and see if you recognize the theme that I play after the first two bars of music" I guessed it before the theme came in I know those runs...
Please tell me, do you think this is not too fast for a vibraphone? I played it on a midi keyboard like a pianist. And now there are doubts. ruclips.net/video/HmP9R8dQDsk/видео.html
I also started on clarinet, at 10, and changed to percussion at 13, and it became my real passion, along with chorus.

An Orff instrument (mostly used in education) would be very portable. Still pricey though (can run as high as $1000).
Thank you!
