  • Depends what you want out of a guitar. But I’d say that if the brands marketing pitch speaks to you (i.w. A barebones, stripped down guitar, thin automotive paint finish allowing the wood to breath, brass hardware for tonal sustain, and good electronics, at an affordable cost w no bells and whistles) then you’ll like them.

I have one of GFS's teles and honestly it came to me perfectly intonated and just overall ready to be played, just did a string change on it. Honestly if you're looking for something very usable stuff from them is great

I love mine. It’s weighty like a swamp ash body should be, the pickup sounds amazing (as stated in the video) and my frets were in great shape. Didn’t notice a sharp fingerboard thank goodness.
I a world of solid budget guitars this one is a standout in my opinion.

I fully agree with you that the slick guitar has kicked off the Golden age of cheap playable guitars. Properly set up my slick superstrat is something I would probably pay upwards of $800,900 for

I own one of those and with a normal action at the bridge the strings can not be removed without raising the bridge each time I replace a string/re-string. I could shim the neck in order to raise the bridge but then I'll have a pickup height issue. ( That p90 already sits pretty high) Eventually I will Dremel that area behind the bridge but what a pain.

Excellent sounding P90…but not giggable until I fix that string access problem at the bridge. Plenty of room to add a tone control, huge route/ big access plate like they intended to have a tone control.

I like the idea of a slick but I am a bit hesitant to order a cheap guitar by mail sight unseen

Understandable. Mine worked out well, but I only have the one experience so I can’t speak to the brands overall QC.

You can find them on guitarfetish.com. They have quite a few different models to choose from. I liked this one for the sand blaster body and single coil pickup. Little rock machine!

I've been looking at these for years and the price is just too good for a workhorse. I personally don't like the logo and it looks huge on the headstocks, but I really like that case you got. 😮

From a distance the headstock logo looks like it says “Suck”. Lol I covered it up with black electrical tape. Great guitar! (SL50)

Better or worse than a $200 - $250 ibanez ax?

I would say better, but it also depends what style of guitar you're looking for.
