Here's a theory of mine, Xaden is going to use the conduits that Violet has embedded energy into, as a source of energy for him to pull from. It just hit me while walking around the house, and I wanted to see what other people think about it.

I think Violet's Dad became a high level Venon. Ready for this? Her Dad became a high level Venin before she was conceived, and didnt tell lillith? He worked in the library so he could stay hidden. Which he then uses to his advantage to cure Violet of this "Sickness" she had since she was born. She was basically born half human half venin a hybrid so to speak, her mother was an extremely powerful signet holder, so it would only make sense as to why her power is elemental. It doesnt pull or drain the source, but originates from the source. Her dad knew this would happen, so he trained her to be a scribe and told her those "fables". Why else would her dad have been obsessed with helping her and training her? What if the archives do in fact have the "cure" so to speak to not necessarily heal the venin, but neutralize it? Return it to the source? That's why she was "cured" and her hair started growing into a different color. To represent her as a joining of the two types? It's definately a stretch but a fun theory 😭
I’ve thought all along that Violet is a distance wielder and because of that can also travel a distance through time… and that is connected/foreshadowed by Andarna’s feathertail magic. This theory is the only thing that is making me think that the silver-haired venin is POSSIBLY Violet 😅

It’s when Devera has to cover RSC class and they were talking about how culture was lost after the unification. She talked about how Navarre gave an opportunity to some to come live within the borders for a short period of time, but not all could. As a result, you can fight some drifts and encounter a distant relative. What if the silver hair Venin is a distant relative. There’s no way Yarros put this in the book and not have something pop up out of it
Maybe Lillith knew something more about the venin and the archives and that's another reason she was insistent Violet joined the rider's quadrant instead of the scribes, and she's been trying to protect her from something more that we're yet to find out. Maybe she knew something from Papa Sorrengail?? Aahh so many questions! Off to re-read fourth wing and iron flame now 😂 also on a side note, I love how many of us are re-reading the books and rewatching your fourth wing content in preparation for onyx storm
I believe that Venin has been involved all along within the scribes, hence the history being altered and Venin disappearing from history and only being carried on in outlaying fables or word of mouth and consequently just being the boogie man.
My Violet second signet theory but don't quite have the proof to back it as I am rereading: First book, first battle brief, FJB makes fun of Violet for believing that precognition is a signet when she argued about how the riders were already flying to where the wards were down. It is so briefly mentioned and covered up with Violet's embarrassment so easily hidden within the situation.

I think her second signet is siphon “The art of imbuing comes naturally to only a handful of signets, and automatically only to one: the siphon” from chapter 53; would explain why she can read xaden’s thoughts, and sense runes as well? She does use Andarnas powers to due them in runes class. Just my thoughts also in one history lesson there was a discussion about how in battle they may have to fight against distant relatives hence the silver hair venin because they talk in fourth wing about cut her hair because it’s a dead giveaway on who she is. Her mom and sister both have short hair because they cut the silver hair off so they are less of a target during battle.
But Violet also mentioned her hair does it no matter the length, so I don’t think Mira and Lilith’s hair does it or else it would be mentioned. And the siphon excerpt was on the same chapter where Sloane manifested her siphon signet
To Violet’s hair, I think that she was turned into a venin at some point, but she was imbued with some element that prevented her from turning fully into a venin. The reason why her hair is tipped in silver is that the hair is too far from whatever element is preventing her from turning venin. Why else would her tips persist as being gray, but her roots are her natural hair color. In the same way that Xaden is not cured, Violet is also not cured-just maintained.

Yes. And we HAVE seen this before. At the end of the battle at Resson. The one venin that ‘escaped’ or disappeared when Garrick (i think) was coming for him. I hope I’m remembering this correctly.
Rebecca yarros did say in an interview that her signet of choice that she would want would be distance wielding because who doesn’t want to travel through space and time quickly. I think she accidentally let it slip.
Also, I think they want JFB because of his signet powers. We know Xaden still has his even though he turned. I would imagine that they don't get many riders to turn because they already have power so the ones that they do have are probably of great value. Imagine having a Venin army that also have signet powers in addition to the their Venin ones. And the silver haired Venin may be another former rider that has telekinetic powers. And, this may be a secret that the dragons have been trying to keep. They know some riders and their dragons have turned and don't want the humans to know this has happened.

Btw I was rereading the final battle of iron flame the other day and I was thinking about how Rebecca said that at first Violet was the one who was gonna turn venin, I wonder if it was supposed to be at the moment when she tells Tairn “you shouldn’t have to lose two riders this way”. Obviously it could just mean burning out, but knowing that Violet was supposed to turn venin, could it also be a little clue of what happened to Naolin?
As for the silver-haired venin girl, I've got the idea, that Lilith may have twins, and faces some real complications during labour. She kind of chose 1 child to stay alive (or had enough time just for saving 1), the second child was thought to be dead, but somehow that children ended up with venins... like, why not?)
Saving Jack could be as simple as he knows where the ward stone is but the runes camouflaging it is preventing the other venin from finding it and bringing the wards down again
I guess the question is, what does being in the Archives give the venin if they’ve been in Basgiath for a long time? Access to information since all info is sent there first before Calldyr and info is power… it also allows them to monitor the truth being held down while they amass power for their assault since the the battle felt like a long time coming… also, they’re not as powerful inside the wards and maybe only need to “feed” randomly like Jack (whose eyes aren’t always red in IF) so it wouldn’t necessarily be obvious…
Off topic but I have a question… how do we think venin control wyvern? Like the runes on the blocks inside them feels big and like a clue so maybe it’s through a rune on their bodies that matches the ones inside the wyvern which is why when the venin die, the wyvern do cause they can’t channel power to them anymore? And the wards break that connection of the rune with the ones that are etched into the stone which is why the wyvern die when they cross the one at Basgiath
I wish the venin were trying to save Jack because as a foil to the dragon riders, who are cut throat against each other in Basgaith, the venin were super loyal to each other. But we know that’s not the case based on previous interactions we’ve seen. Would’ve been interacting tho.
It’s hours later when we get his POV after the Battle and she’s asleep next to him, so I never thought she’d be angry with him or scared of him like he’s worried about… I also think the first chapter could contain a flashback of them talking about it as well as her processing all that’s happened at the end of IF… there’s too much to discuss between them to leave it up in the air and not show us either
Could Daddy Sorengail have turned Venin in order to save Lilith when she was sick with the fever and that venin-healing power was what caused the silver hair for violet? That would tie into the reason why Lilith was searching for a cure for venin. And if Papa S was venin, perhaps that is why the Venin are infiltrating the scribe quadrant…he discovered something around the venin (the weapon to kill them?) and they are trying to find the research to destroy it.
I’ve also said this so many times but why is he is the ONLY person on the continent with the Fables of the Barren?! Did he write it himself when he learned of venin in the quadrant or from Lilith? Was he a venin but when he turned it was also for love so he kept his humanity and left his knowledge to help defeat what he has become? Did a fellow venin kill him with poison and that’s why he declined over time and wasn’t making much sense by the end??
Or perhaps there's a familial connection to Jack. We haven't probed the depths of the venin society, but they may have bonds we aren't seeing at present. Also, we've never seen a dragon break the bond on the page. Tairn mentions that Solas chose poorly, and Varrish boasts of manipulating his dragon. I don't believe once the bond resolves it can be broken. Since we saw Jack kill his dragon, I suspect that is the path that venin tread.
I said it on your Instagram, but I think that intentionality is going to matter with the draining… it’d be very RY to make the choice matter and since he turned for love instead of greed and jealously and power, I think it may change his whole venin-ness
So who do we think knows he’s venin???? Like the Leadership of Basgiath would probably not promote him if they knew, so I think it may still just be Violet at this point and the cadets he’s training later possibly?? They’re not supposed to be able to use all their powers… like they can drain and such but disappearing feels like using too much power with active wards… which is one of the reasons I don’t know if she’s really there and only Violet is seeing her which would make her disappearing not a venin power but more like an apparition 🤷🏻♀️
Crazy ass theory time - What if it’s not even really Brennan but Naolin in disguise… like the rune on his hand is a cloaking rune or something that he added there after he tried to save Brennan and actually failed… we know that venin riders can control their dragons so what if he is controlling Marbh and broke the bond with Tairn, making it appear he died? I don’t know his reasoning but I feel like there’s more to Brennan and he’s sus af which led me down this rabbit hole lol

Brennan’s signet just feels so powerful, like more so than Nolan’s, which got me thinking! It’s one of those theories that stays as a basic thought and probably won’t develop anywhere 😂

If Lilith did encounter venin while pregnant and this affected Violet, I believe Xaden knows this and it’s one of his secrets. Oh and his scar above his heart for her is silver, and she (violet) has a silver scar from the knife cut from the venin. 🤔Connected??
Okay - venin and dragon bonds have been bugging me. Tarin was Naolan’s dragon and Brennan saying it cost him everything to bring him back and his “death” almost killed Tarin. Tarin has said “we shall not talk about the one who came before” because I think TARIN BROKE THE BOND with Naolan since he turned venin and hasn’t told anyone. RY has said that venin can be bonded to dragons… same with JFB but once your venin you’re not tied to the death of your dragon anymore. Therefore until/if they can find a cure for venin, xaden can die without the others dying now…
I wonder where Tairn was when Naolin was saving Brennan? And if he was there and saw him turn venin, Tairn could have killed him and that’s why he went into the Vale for five years - to mourn what he had to do… could also be why Sgaeyl doesn’t like Brennan since it forced her mate to have to kill his rider and she blames Brennan 🤷🏻♀️ alternate theory if Naolin really is dead and why Tairn refuses to talk about it cause at this point, knowing Naolin is venin would be something I feel like Tairn would share with the class since it matters now… but he wouldn’t feel the need to share if he had to kill him
So Xaden HAS to stay if he’s still bonded to Sgaeyl since we know riders can’t be away from their dragons for long… we also know he’ll have to break the bond to be able to leave since he can’t take Sgaeyl with him because Sgaeyl and Tairn can’t be away from each other either as mates… so when Violet goes off to find the truth, Tairn, Sgaeyl and Xaden need to go with her unless Xaden breaks the bond

And we don't know what the poison was it could be Venin Blood and that's why Lilith was that sick when she was pregnant. A mender heeled Lilith but it was maybe too late for violet so she started draining her mom and herself she was a baby she couldn't know what she was doing

Off topic but I have a question… how do we think venin control wyvern? Like the runes on the blocks inside them feels big and like a clue so maybe it’s through a rune on their bodies that matches the ones inside the wyvern which is why when the venin die, the wyvern do cause they can’t channel power to them anymore? And the wards break that connection of the rune with the ones that are etched into the stone which is why the wyvern die when they cross the one at Basgiath

I wish the venin were trying to save Jack because as a foil to the dragon riders, who are cut throat against each other in Basgaith, the venin were super loyal to each other. But we know that’s not the case based on previous interactions we’ve seen. Would’ve been interacting tho.
It’s hours later when we get his POV after the Battle and she’s asleep next to him, so I never thought she’d be angry with him or scared of him like he’s worried about… I also think the first chapter could contain a flashback of them talking about it as well as her processing all that’s happened at the end of IF… there’s too much to discuss between them to leave it up in the air and not show us either

Could Daddy Sorengail have turned Venin in order to save Lilith when she was sick with the fever and that venin-healing power was what caused the silver hair for violet? That would tie into the reason why Lilith was searching for a cure for venin. And if Papa S was venin, perhaps that is why the Venin are infiltrating the scribe quadrant…he discovered something around the venin (the weapon to kill them?) and they are trying to find the research to destroy it.
I’ve also said this so many times but why is he is the ONLY person on the continent with the Fables of the Barren?! Did he write it himself when he learned of venin in the quadrant or from Lilith? Was he a venin but when he turned it was also for love so he kept his humanity and left his knowledge to help defeat what he has become? Did a fellow venin kill him with poison and that’s why he declined over time and wasn’t making much sense by the end??
Or perhaps there's a familial connection to Jack. We haven't probed the depths of the venin society, but they may have bonds we aren't seeing at present.
Also, we've never seen a dragon break the bond on the page. Tairn mentions that Solas chose poorly, and Varrish boasts of manipulating his dragon. I don't believe once the bond resolves it can be broken. Since we saw Jack kill his dragon, I suspect that is the path that venin tread.

How can the white hair sage use her venin powers if the wards are up? I think the venin was a rider with distance wielding because riders can channel in the wards. Thoughts?
I’ve wondered and said the same thing!!! Cause if they can use their powers, what is the purpose of the wards?? They’re not supposed to be able to use all their powers… like they can drain and such but disappearing feels like using too much power with active wards… which is one of the reasons I don’t know if she’s really there and only Violet is seeing her which would make her disappearing not a venin power but more like an apparition 🤷🏻♀️

Crazy ass theory time - What if it’s not even really Brennan but Naolin in disguise… like the rune on his hand is a cloaking rune or something that he added there after he tried to save Brennan and actually failed… we know that venin riders can control their dragons so what if he is controlling Marbh and broke the bond with Tairn, making it appear he died? I don’t know his reasoning but I feel like there’s more to Brennan and he’s sus af which led me down this rabbit hole lol

@sproutswithjoy he could always siphon the power from the earth and push it into people, kinda like how I feel like venin use the power they take to keep them alive for a long time… it’s the only thing I could think of this was even remotely true which I’m not convinced it is… but it would be wild if so! Brennan’s signet just feels so powerful, like more so than Nolan’s, which got me thinking! It’s one of those theories that stays as a basic thought and probably won’t develop anywhere 😂

The question also is who are JFB’s parents? That could matter too… like who told him about venin and had him turn? He could have been a plant and them having not wanted him to turn until he was inside and bonded to a dragon to help take down the wards

Okay - venin and dragon bonds have been bugging me. Tarin was Naolan’s dragon and Brennan saying it cost him everything to bring him back and his “death” almost killed Tarin. Tarin has said “we shall not talk about the one who came before” because I think TARIN BROKE THE BOND with Naolan since he turned venin and hasn’t told anyone. RY has said that venin can be bonded to dragons… same with JFB but once your venin you’re not tied to the death of your dragon anymore. Therefore until/if they can find a cure for venin, xaden can die without the others dying now…
I wonder where Tairn was when Naolin was saving Brennan? And if he was there and saw him turn venin, Tairn could have killed him and that’s why he went into the Vale for five years - to mourn what he had to do… could also be why Sgaeyl doesn’t like Brennan since it forced her mate to have to kill his rider and she blames Brennan 🤷🏻♀️ alternate theory if Naolin really is dead and why Tairn refuses to talk about it cause at this point, knowing Naolin is venin would be something I feel like Tairn would share with the class since it matters now… but he wouldn’t feel the need to share if he had to kill him

So Xaden HAS to stay if he’s still bonded to Sgaeyl since we know riders can’t be away from their dragons for long… we also know he’ll have to break the bond to be able to leave since he can’t take Sgaeyl with him because Sgaeyl and Tairn can’t be away from each other either as mates… so when Violet goes off to find the truth, Tairn, Sgaeyl and Xaden need to go with her unless Xaden breaks the bond

after listening to this breakdown i had a new thought. is papa sorrengail also not dead but alive and leading the venin somehow? maybe he turned before violet was conceived, hence the silver hair that’s now becoming venin trademark. it would make sense why so many venin have to keep her alive, why the venin would be heed in the archived he knows so well, as well as all his mysterious foreshadowing in previous books. it’d be kinda funny if another member of her family also faked their own death but who even knows anymore lol

So I’ve been wondering why they want Xaden so badly… and how did Xaden know the Sage wanted him? Was it to get Violet or because of something else? Like his power, his being the leader of the revolution, what? What is it about HIM specifically?? And why does it feel like they wanted him first before they even saw her wield?
I have a feeling that violet, at some point in the story, will be kidnapped. I wonder if it will be this book.

Interesting but I don´t think she could be draining herself, I guess the dragons would have known and wouldn´t have bonded her. Also, she would be draining herself since she´s a baby which is highly unlikely.
@leamichellemuller2173 I think that's exactly why Tairn and Andarna chose her like he said " I know exactly who and What you are Violet Sorrengail " and I think she became part venin because her mother was maybe stab with the same type of poison Violet was. And we don't know what the poison was it could be Venin Blood and that's why Lilith was that sick when she was pregnant. A mender heeled Lilith but it was maybe too late for violet so she started draining her mom and herself she was a baby she couldn't know what she was doing
