  • The Oregon Historical Society’s museum collection includes over 200 quilts, that document and highlight many aspects of the region’s history, provide a glimpse of women’s work over the past two centuries, and hold the memories of those who made and used them. In her recent blog post on “Dear Oregon,” Curator of Collections Helen Fedchak discusses a recent project to rehouse about 70 of the quilts, which provided the opportunity to photograph them and update records in the museum’s collection database. I hope you will someday have an exhibit of some of these quilts at the museum. As a quilter I would love to see these quilts up close to admire their handiwork. Oregon has thousands of quilters and many quilt guilds. I am sure the guilds would organize trips to get their members to see these quilts.
