Purchased a Marin Team 1 Hardtail from BO last year - also a great value hardtail. Upgrades: Fox 36 Performance Fork with GRIP (thanks to a mate who had a 2019 fork spare!) SPANK Spike Vibrocore 35 Bar, Ergon EVO Grips, FUNN Ripper SPD Peddles, FUNN Crossfire 35mm Stem, Tubeless with Maxxis Minion DHR II 2.4 front and rear, Brand-X Ascend XL Dropper Seatpost (170 & 200mm) - It's now a BEAST!
Recently picked up a base model 2023 Specialized Rockhopper for my wife. Immediately felt the need to make some changes. 😂 First five have been as follows: 1. Pedals (Raceface Chesters) 2. Saddle (WTB Volt Chromoly) 3. Grips (ODI Elite Pros) 4. 1x Drivetrain (Shimano Deore M5100) 5. Air Fork (Rockshox Recon Silver RL) Next items on the list are Shimano M6100 Hydraulic Disk Brakes and a 180mm rotor for the front. Never thought adding a hardtail to the family stable would be so much fun!
Love the GCN copy studio.... I might do that for my next video 😎. Also like that you said 2x and hydraulic disc last. I prefer 2x as I have a rodie background, but if it gets muddy on my gravel bike I wish for 1x.
Thanks Bryon! The studio and a good mic makes all the difference! After our latest test riding all the siskiu D bikes im doubling down on the 2x as the last upgrade!
How did you get that dropper passed the the water bolts? I had to saw mine out. I have the same bike and I’ve done almost all the same upgrades! It rides like a dream!
6:48 It's the first time that I hear about lower external headset cup. I'll surely look into it when I proceed with upgrading the fork of my Giant Talon 2 (2017). Thanks a lot for the info, Phil! Lots'a love, cheers, & Mabuhay, from tropical Philippines! #KeepBiking
I'd buy a bike on line if they would only add a few minor upgrades, and charge me for it. I ride in the desert so tubeless thornproof tires are a must from day one. Or simply sell me a bike with the majority of the upgrades built in. That's the primary reason I haven't upgraded my 1990's Trek.
I’m debating if it’s worth adding an air fork to this bike, or ride it till I have maxed it capabilities and get me a new full suspension bike? What’s your opinion.
Why upgrade when you can just upspec to a better bike? I’d like to think that Polygon and Marin have more research, development and knowhow than I do when it comes to components
Well it mainly comes down to what you can afford when you get the bike. Then once you save a little you can upgrade as you go and add your own personal touches.
The 44mm option would be the more modern selection of the two. As modern bikes have gotten more slack in the headtube, offsets have gotten smaller to account for some of that.
Phil… you’re going to get me addicted to upgrading my hardtail 😂

Sounds like a solid build!
The best upgrade suggestion video on the Internet.
Thank you! 🙏

Fork and contact points are very important! Brakes are overrated 😂
They only slow you down!!!

On the large frame and being around 185cm, there was enough room without having to go all the way down to the bottle mounts
@@bikesonline lucky! I’m 179 cm on a M frame, and it’s pretty far down the tube. But, anyways, who cares about warranties!
@@bikesonline do a bike check vid…

Thanks! I would definitely recommend doing some research into it. Just need to make sure is 44mm oversized and sometimes it may or may not work.
@@bikesonline Sure! I'll ask my trusted bike mechanic to guide me through the process!
Thanks again, Phil!
@@yengsabio5315 Awesome! More than happy to help :)

There are always bikes available that have better spec. Feel free to browse the lineup at BikesOnline.com!
New fone who dis?
🤣
What is the widest tire we can run on the stock bobcat trail 4 rims?
For that bike we would recommend a 2.3 - 2.4 or so!
Just upgraded my bobcat trail 3 from a 3x9 drivetrain to a 1 x 11 deore and it’s sooooo much better and lighter
Great job!

My point exactly...when they do that is when I will buy.
hello...what's the possible maximum chainring for this Marin Bobcat Trail 4...the stock for this is 32T can we use maybe 34T for this?
We would recommend asking Marin directly for this one!
I want to buy MARZOCCHI BOMBER Z2 but i got 2 options tapered / 15 x 110 mm / 44 mm and tapered / 15 x 110 mm/51 mm what option do i have to get?

@@bikesonlinegood to know thanks for responding so fast
Do yo think is possible to put on some 2.5 dhfs on the bobcat trail?
It's possible, but we can't confirm that with 100% certainty.
The z2 fork you upgraded? Hm travel does it have
130mm :)
@@bikesonline where did you get the custom Marzocchi decals?
