What are the dimensions of the block you start with? Western white pine is readily available here in Washington state. Is it suitable for carving decoys?
@@NATTUD Murphy's set includes Canada goose, mallard, pintail, wood duck, scaup and canvasback, so only 3 puddlers. I believe you could find a used set on-line but it's not exactly what you're looking for.

What kind of wood to the body?
Amateur. Use a piece of form fitted tin for the side profile.
