That’s awesome! Many people have said they spray store bought potatoes with something to stop them from sprouting. These were sprouted so will see how they do. Thanks for watching ❤️
Wonder Why Farm & Homestead idk if I believe that because we had sprouts on some russets that were about a foot long. They are growing great, better than the seed potatoes I bought at the feed mill that had no sprouts what so ever. Not even little buds. And are not doing well at all.
The seed potatoes I planted all had sprouts and look good. Seems to be a crap shoot! Last year I hardly got back the amount I planted. I just keep trying stuff maybe I’ll stumble onto a method that works. Good luck with yours ❤️
Saw you on Angela's busy bee garden and Homstead. Came to check out your channel. I'm fascinated by the different ways people plant the potatoes. I have mine in grow bags and a Rough Stout bed. New friend here also hit the like. God bless.
Well in early June of this year my wife became very ill. With taking care of her nearly full time my garden suffered so I don’t have a answer. I hope 🤞 2021 is a better year for her and my garden. Thanks for watching and hopefully I can try again and post a vid with my results 😊
Oh my - I certainly wish the story had a more happy ending. My thoughts are with you, your wife and the rest of your family. Thank you for getting back to me - I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you & your garden.
They are I find easy to grow but my yields have never been great. That’s why I’m trying the horse / rabbit manure growing and since I had that bag of potatoes we bought to eat and they had gone bad why not plant them! Nothing to loose. Thanks for watching ❤️
New follower here. I found you on “just a few acres farm” and joined. We have a similar channel. I’ve been waiting on some store bought potatoes to sprout myself. Great video.
yes in November I will purchase a 20lb bag of white potatoes from Costco, they have the non-treated for cheep. I let them go to bud, and plant in spring. but is there a difference between bought seed potatoes and non seed? that’s what I want to know.
The only difference that I know of is the Seed Potatoes are certified to grow but you pay for that. I’ve planted lots of just regular grocery store potatoes and they grow fine. Thanks for watching 😊
New subscriber here! I'm also interested in the outcome! Ill have to go see if there's an update! I just posted about some corn we just put in a few weeks ago, and are experimenting with high intensity spacing (6 inches apart). Its kind of fun to test new ideas. 😊
Unfortunately after releasing this my wife became extremely I’ll and I had to put all other things on hold while I still take care of her. Hopefully I will one day get to follow up with this. Thanks for watching 😊
Just come across your channel. This video came up in my stream - it is incredibly timely. I was recently asking myself the difference between regular store potatoes and a seed potato. I am in the process of building raised beds for my first garden in about 8 years. I want to start with some potatoes. Learned a lot from your video - thanks. I have subbed to follow along with your channel. We have a small family homestead in NE Florida. If you get a chance, check out our channel and consider subscribing.
I have literally planted store bought potato peelings that had a few small buds on them and got a harvest of Potatoes from the peelings.

Thanks 😊 I’ll be sure to check you out as well 👍🏻
Have you harvested the crop of store brought potatoes that you planted as a test? Was wondering how it turned out...

I’ve heard they put stuff in store bought potatoes to keep them from growing well. I haven’t tried. Can’t wait to see how they do!
Well since planting them they have popped up so will see if they make potatoes or just plants. Thanks for the support my friend 👍🏻
Looking forward to seeing which method works best for you!
I have yet to plant potatoes, but I love to eat them! Looking forward to seeing the results!
